It's interesting you have a rule not to write anything negative. I have the opposite rule. I feel if I write it down, I remove it from my mind and trap it on the paper. I've always had a journal for things I want to just get out of my head and let go. That's the one I would never want anyone else to see, because it would make me sound really crazy and violent.
In the past I only journaled when I felt bad/ anxious. The problem is that once I looked back at this journal and it made me feel awful to see all this negativity and I even was a bit shocked about my thoughts. I then also decided to not engage with these thoughts on paper again. The negative thoughts are often floating and writing them down makes them persistent. I also saw a very good RUclips video from Ryder Carroll (bullet journal creator) on “toxic journaling” that was eye opening as it was exactly what I did - now I focus on my goals dreams and things that make me feel good - that’s the things I want to remember when looking back.
I want to say this was so warm of a feeling to watch. I absolutely loved your perspective on life goals as far as what success looks like for you. That it’s not a big house and nice car. I can relate. You brought us into your vision with your creation of your planner and that’s beautiful to me. I love to learn a persons why if their open to sharing and I believe that makes you a creative genius in this way. Well wishes to all your goals and accomplishments for 2023😇
I'm a little late to the party but I thoroughly enjoyed this video and your process. I've saved it so that I can go back to it once I receive my SI planners & 5-year journal. 😊 One of the things you said that really resonated with me was how you don't write anything negative on paper. That's my rule too! I know a lot of people find it helpful to regurgitate and let all their feelings out but I don't. I want to find ways to re-direct any negative emotions I'm feeling into something else.😊 Getting started is something I struggle with so this real time planning will help so much - thanks Catherine!
Thank you, Catherine. It is very helpful, considering I never had a class or really did this before. The last few months I have done a lot of reading on various ways of setting and pursuing goals, but it is always useful to actually observe another's process. Looking forward to using my Common Planner.
Thank you for sharing! I've started my goal-setting for 2023 in my common planner already, but I really enjoyed hearing your thoughts. I have very similar interests, so listening to your perspectives helped me frame my goals in a different and more structured light. I admire your passion and wide variety of hobbies, and I hope you and your family can reach them. It's clear to me, from your videos and business, that you are already a beautiful person and that you can only grow from here. I came across your products by chance, fell in love, and am so glad that someone like you sits behind the products. I can't think of anyone more deserving of success. Happy Holidays, Catherine! I can't wait to see where the future takes you and Sterling Ink.
Catherine thank you for sharing goal setting but especially for sharing yourself in this way. You are a beautiful person. You are a person who I would like for a friend or sister. Some of these goals are mine and you have helped me to break these down. Thank you so much. Blessings
I’m in love with your tea set… and am determined to actually goal-set this year in the hope of not only articulating my ideal life, but enjoying a more focused journey through time and circumstance. So happy to include your journal in this year’s lineup. ❤
Thank you so much! I love them too. Goal setting and planning into my daily schedule changed my life and I hope it will help you too! Thank you so much and Happy New Year!
Hi Catherine, thank you for sharing, I only found you recently via Rachelle in Theory and I’m so glad I did. I’ve never done any goal setting as I didn’t really know how - at least I had in my mind what I wanted to do but never wrote it down or broke it down - guess what? I didn’t achieve what I wanted to do 🤦🏼♀️. Thank you for helping me to understand the process. By the way you really ARE a beautiful person! Blessings to you and your family ❤
Thank you for sharing! So inspired by your ambition, creativity, and personality! Would love to see a what’s in my pen case video where you share your tools if you’re up for it in the future!
Your Hobonichi project planning style changed my life. And this time thanks to your goal planning sheet, I set goals with a pragmatic day-to-day breakdown. Thanks so much!
I did not know that your son was Sterling! I have been making my 2023 lineup and written Sterling Ink Common Planner over and over, so I was wondering. Love that! Also, thanks for sharing this. I think you are a beautiful person. 🫶
I'm really enjoying the video. I'm like 30 pages into my common planner already and I love it so much. I'd buy a completely blank grid notebook version in a heartbeat
I have not even tried to get my goal set up guess I better get it done sometime this coming week to make sure we have it up before the first of 2023. Thanks for reminding me about the goals I’m setting for next year I don’t like to set them up too high I wanna be able to make them if I can this year I did not make it
Love the look of the filled in Common Planner! Can't wait to start using mine. What pen did you use in the planner so far? If a fountain pen, what nib size and ink combination? It seems perfect in size and depth/darkness. Thanks.
Hi Eva, thank you so much! I am using a mix of pilot vanishing point (fine nib) and platinum 3776 (fine and medium nib) with a mix of iroshizuku take Sumi and archive and document ink.
I finished NaNoWriMo twice a long time ago. I should make that a goal again this year! It’s a great way to get *something* on paper within a specific time limit to keep the inner critic at bay. Thank you for this video! 💗
Hello, you make extreamly beautiful stickers. Please sell digital stickers for digital planners here. That could be a new revenue stream with very little extra effort ;)
I’ve been waiting for this video! Thank you so much for your perspective. What will you use for tools for learning a new language? I have a goal of learning French!
I like learning from textbooks, but will also pair with elementary school reading in Japanese and add my favorite tv shows (I know I said I won’t watch tv shows, but this is a must for leaning speaking in my opinion)
Love your videos. Can I ask what you use to print the pictures you put in your journaling pages? I have an HP Sprocket and I'm not satisfied with the quality.
Thank you so much for sharing this! So fascinating and super helpful as I set up my common planner. Just curious, do you want to write a novel or a nonfiction book? :)
I really hope I didn’t make you feel that way. Goals are so personal you can have any kinda goals. I don’t meet all my goals. I forgot to mention that. As long as I know I tried my best and focused on the priorities I am happy and content
I haven’t set up goals in years, but because of you and the Common Planner I have. I’m super excited about doing so and have been hitting them.
Thank you so much!! I love goal planning 😄

I currently allow myself to vent for a bit but will move onto happier thoughts to prevent the negativity from spiraling. 😅
I love the fact that this was done in real time. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you Robin, I had fun doing it :)

it looks like a Cartier Tank
Hi Gina it’s Cartier thank Hannkg is correct
@@hannkg7715 I thought so too, but I looked up close & it’s not Cartier. I can’t read the name tho.
