I've had the D3 for...has to be over a year now. It has a TON of bang for your buck.

Simplicity is a definite plus. Lack of low-cut could be a small issue on location. With that price, it is definitely going in my kit. THANKS for the review.

Learning about (battery-powered) mics for my new Fujifilm X-T4, and I really liked this review. Well-produced, clear points, easy to digest. Thanks.

I haven’t noticed any at all, there shouldn’t be any so long as you set your gain correctly. Sounds like the videomic you had may have been faulty because both mics are very good in terms of signal to noise ratio 👍🏻

You mentioned that the Rode microphone is made of plastic. There are different strengths of plastic. I have a plastic grate covering the access to the pump on the French drain in my back yard. The plastic is so strong that I can walk on it. What strength / build quality is the plastic on the Rode microphone?

1:20 - ONE AAA battery not two. This mic has been my go to mic for the past two years especially for run and gun and solo shooting. I've even used is on a boom pole in several situations outdoors. The short barrel means less phase issues indoors, which is very important for indoors content creation. It's still direction enough to minimize unwanted sounds that are off axis. I'll share a video of a baptism at the Jordan river where I had someone hold the boom pole underneath the frame (untrained person) and running a cable into my A7ii. (not forcing religion on anyone, this is just the best example I have shot that shows both strengths and weaknesses). Harv, feel free to delete the comment if you don't like it, I won't take it personally. fb.watch/bhA_1oQq04/
