Beautiful work. I've been climbing since 07 I bought your "Schultz Effect" and learned lots and still am. Also 'studied' your "Pfanner man in Cali" video countless times. Great stuff! Thank u! Reuben Vancouver BC
Awesome work here bro. Your editing prowess is totally outrageous. I read what you said about double blocking and your 5/8 is not quite long enough, I have a 250' that I've only needed once fully. It gets expensive having 400 and 500 foot ropes just sitting around. Thank you, James Rescue.
Question So I know in the beginning with rings. 3 rings were to be used for your termination rigging point. Then you were able to use 2 XL rings for the proper bend radius. Noticed a lot of guys using a single ring. To the best of your knowledge, what is the latest. Can a single ring be used?
in tree work we go with a 4:1 bend radius (ex: 1/2 rope should go around a 2" bend). any tighter and the outer fibers see more of the load, weakening the rope. but (if you're using proper hardware) there is no tighter bend than the knot you're making (unless you're using splices) so if you're using a running bowline that is your weakest link, not a single ring. personally, for the most part, i do a single small ring for 1/2" rope. 2 small or one large for 5/8" rope. also one large for 3/4" until the load/ force get near the WLL/ MBS, then i will upgrade to 2 large rings. i also use splices and shackle on my 5/8" and 3/4" ropes cuz i don't want the strength reduction of a knot.
@@LawrenceSchultz3000 nice. Well great work brother. I’m in Santa Cruz county California. So redwoods are always on the calendar. Always enjoy seeing other guys work on them.
this one was pretty straight forward. just using a ring where one might use a block. crank/ lift wood from the neighbor spar into the rigging point. negative the wood in it on the spar it's on, rinse and repeat, many many times...
approximately 2,500lbs. using Notch's 5/8" which has a WLL of 1,850lbs. i have a splice on there with a shackle so there isn't the massive strength loss due to a knot but i was still pushing the limits with that. I couldn't really upgrade to my 3/4" at that point because it wasn't long enough. I should have double blocked it but my 5/8" wasn't quite long enough for that.

the ropes and slings have known MBS/ WLL values to work with. the tree/ stem does not. i know how much weight/ force my rigging can take. how much can your trees/ stems take?

Well done mate. Glad the rain held off for you
Much obliged 🙏 yeah we were very glad too, last thing we needed were wet ropes...
I come back to this video every couple months. Absolute art

Solemn and poignant Law,
a fitting sendoff indeed.
Killer footage, site, song, editing. Amazing as usual my man. 👍👍 probably felt like a robot half way down, that’s a lot of rinse and repeat!!
The music makes it sound like your saying goodbye too a friend.

That looked like a long day of standing on spurs rigging down wood. Great footage as usual.
long 2 days :p
Nice rigging Lawrence. That is some weight you were cutting off there. Amazing!
Liked the double tie in. Looks as if it would help to hold you square to the spar. Nice job.

absolutely incredible.
Looks like that job bought a new Hobbs and 500i! Nice work brother. I love rigging reds. They’re an all around fun tree.
ha! i wish, both of those have some time on them. couldn't have done the job without them though

Have been hoping for this since you posted that raptor clip
holy redwood batman
🤠 that looked like a bumpy ride, top stuff as always
yeah, that wobble + height is hard to run out. if you know a groundie who can send a chunk into a smooth 200ft run send'm my way :)
I will keep you eyes open !
Profi job done.
Very interesting melody.Need to find song's translate.
exquisite
Hey man Thumbs up! I really hope way day you could show the rigging ring set up. It seems to work excellent for you

How much did the heaviest piece weigh that was negative rigged? What size line was used?

Pretension in the line on the tip-tied pieces?
very much so. cranked to the max.

Keep letting those big pieces run you will see one go right through the roof when your line breaks ...
then run dissipates the peak force the piece can generate. would you rather hold them tight?
@@LawrenceSchultz3000 Yes, I would, as the rope has an inherent amount of stretch in it, let the tree / stem absorb the impact, not the rigging...
