A great time in UK music history....a time where you could see Bruce Dickinson with Samson in a small club and have a chat after their set....see Maiden at your local uni hall...pay £5 for a vinyl album and around £10 for a donington ticket.
I'm 52 and I couldn't agree more...I'd give anything to go back to 80s and wouldn't take anything for the experiences I had in the 80s...it was a magical time...a time when metal ruled supreme.
Got both albums. Bought them both brand new way back when I had some hair to shake. Still got a bullet belt somewhere, maybe needs some extra links now.......LOL
awesome compilation album from new wave of british metal, all 4 volumes of metal for muthas are magic. if you are a new wave of british heavy metal fan like me, you know about these albums. 10 awesome songs on here. real metal at the best. #nwobhmforever my god track 4 is a hidden heavy metal blues track, my god fucking awesome i am so blown away by it. real good song. to be fair all 10 songs blow me away
Jamie Warrior Warlord McCallum so damn right buddy N.W.O.B.H.M. is the law and i love to fucking death,we' are a heavy metal knights always fighting for the spirit of metal \m/...cheers
Hi Guys, Ashley here - so pleased you all still like it - agree the vinyl more punchy than CD ( i'd left EMI by then) still sounds fresh to me - was a great adrenal time - and sense of rediscovering metal after punk interlude and restablishment of hard rock's place in the firmament of pleasure - and much more btw you can get hold of me through circle music.co.uk doing an interview on MFM next week for German mag
I love the 2 Iron Maiden tracks on here. Sanctuary is different than the version i am used to hearing even though this would be the original as this comp came out 2 months before the first maiden album. Also, Wrathchild also sounds alot different. I always wondered why they waited till Killers to release this on a album? the drums weird me out they are so different. AWESOME!!!!
Iron Maiden is formidable, the far best known band, of course. But people should pay attention to the entire compilation. Most of the songs are such at high level. Specially Sledgehammer, Praying Mantis, Angel Witch (the heaviest band on Earth at that time) and Samson. Let's go enjoy one more time! :-)
The two Maiden songs aren't even my favorite songs on here (even though they are my favorite Metal Band). My two favorites on here are Captured City (Praying Mantis) and Fight Back (Ethel The Frog).
Got it when it first came out.Ethel the Frog. The most bizarre band name ever. They were bizarre magic mushroom days. You could legally consume fresh shrooms in them days. The filth couldnt do shit.First hand experience kids.On with the music.
"this Toad the Wet Sprocket is a different band but even this TTWS isn't what I'd call metal enough for this album bluesy hard rock but it ain't Heavy Metal they sound like a southern styled blues rock group."
these came from the original Soundhouse tapes... The Soundhouse was a club that they used to play at a lot, helped them pay for and release this demo...
Great stuff after all these years ...the forefathers of metal pioneers Hendrix sabbath purple zeppelin UFO thin lizzy kiss acdc priest gave birth to these metal legends
There was a volume 2 of this compilation with a blue cover as I recall but nowhere near as good as volume 1 which I also still have on vinyl. :-) Edit: just found vol 2 on here also!
@@chrisstafford6995 I always liked Mantis's vocals actually. They released one album and disappeared for 20 years, so maybe that's the reason they weren't as popular.
This album cover is the only non astral depiction of VALESQUE VALMAMA I've ever seen. Satanists/gnostics know what i'm talking about. Valesque Valmama, the 6th password of Freemasonry. Metallica's kill 'em all album depicts Hiram Abiff being slain, the 3RD PASSWORD. Valesque Valmama, real mutha stuff (Freemasonry)
That cannot be Bruce Dickinson in "Tomorrow or yesterday", almost has no resemblence to his later vocals. According to the year, it has to be him, but man!, how much a voice can evolve in such a short time span.
A great time in UK music history....a time where you could see Bruce Dickinson with Samson in a small club and have a chat after their set....see Maiden at your local uni hall...pay £5 for a vinyl album and around £10 for a donington ticket.
I bought Iron maiden's debut album for £3.99, in fact I think they were still 3.99 when piece was released. The good old days,eh!?
36 years I've had this album and I still play it today...... awesome!!!
Nutty Nutcase
I've had it for longer and do the same. Who was your favourite off the album? I had an eye on the E.F band. meself. 🇬🇧💥⚡
saw the EF band many times around Kent. Still remember annoyance at a gig being called off as one of the band had to get home for baby birth
Sledgehammer for me... played at full volume. Metal at its finest :)
What Album can be bad that starts with sanctuary
I'm 52 and I couldn't agree more...I'd give anything to go back to 80s and wouldn't take anything for the experiences I had in the 80s...it was a magical time...a time when metal ruled supreme.
‘Nuf said. Really glad I grew up listening to NWOBHM as it was emerging.
Yeah man me too. Although I would change my location: Northern Ireland. I could do with going through that BS again
it was a shit time but the music was good - i got beaten up by punks once
Hola.
Saludos desde Medellín.
A la edad de 16 años compré este vinilo.
Hoy tengo 55 años..
ROCK Not death.
This is my favourite NWOBHM compilation album now, guys 🤘
Greetings from Thailand
Angel Witch was lightyears ahead of every other band on this album at the time with Baphomet.
Absolutely. Kevin Heyborne live in Port Vale with Skids Riddles in 1980 was a highlight of my youth. Baphomet remains a brilliant track.
Any one who rockd had this record when it came out WOOOOOHHOOOOOOO LETS ROCK
Got both albums. Bought them both brand new way back when I had some hair to shake. Still got a bullet belt somewhere, maybe needs some extra links now.......LOL
loved this LP so much, NWOBHM ruled the world then
Still does
WOW I remember seeing the ad for this in Hit Parader or Circus magazine or some shit
way back in the 20th Century
🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘⚡⚡⚡⚡🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

"Blues in A" great track!

I think it gives a proper sample of the most important music movement in heavy metal history.

You may know already Jimmy, but it's (I believe) Paul Di'Anno singing, not Bruce. Sanctuary I think was recorded first before Bruce joined.
dont forget that its bruce singing with samson. known as bruce bruce then.
jimmyjambhere dianno maiden was kick ass
The two Maiden songs aren't even my favorite songs on here (even though they are my favorite Metal Band). My two favorites on here are Captured City (Praying Mantis) and Fight Back (Ethel The Frog).
Legendaire
俺の青春。悩み多かった頃。懐かしい。😁😢

Wrathchild sounds better than on killers
hell yeahhh !!! only NWOBHM
I need this record!!
Why nobody talks about volume 3, as I Got my copy many years ago and it is a Japanese press😊
dianno kick ass!
Hell yea
Just a shame the mighty Crucifixion turned down the chance to appear . Great memories. Great rockin.
So I'm Wrathchild, Well I'm Wrathbringer... catching the rainbow...
ethel The frog, listening to Breaking the law maybe when writing Fight Back, still good shit tho' \m/ MAFF
"this Toad the Wet Sprocket is a different band
but even this TTWS isn't what I'd call metal enough
for this album bluesy hard rock but it ain't Heavy Metal

🤘🏿
Can't be the same Road the wet spocket
who is muthas?
Mutha fuckers dont you know.......soul fans and punks....Mutha fuckers all of 'em tut.
A “mutha” was slang for a British heavy metal fan.
Fucking mastermpiece
Mack 11 is good 2...
If Angel Witch is metal
ヘヴィメタルへの招待。レコード持ってる。
Ola soi omelo chino 😲
toad the wet sprocket?? wtf
+SuperDriven1 Yup, but not the 90's era band, different band before that shit same name haha.
+Joseph Schmoe ---ha, thanks for clarifying.
+Joseph Schmoe
wonder if the 90's band stole it or just dumb luck??
+SuperDriven1 The name comes from a Monty Python sketch.
+Joseph Schmoe
yeah, I was just wondering if the 90's band knew about this band.
FUCKIN A
I bought this vinyl record from the Record Vault back in the 80s\m/⸸666⛧🎻🪕🎸🥁🤘👨🎤👩🎤🤟
that's what im talkin about
This album takes me back. Life was so much simpler not a care in the world
amen to that brother :)
Wow, this version of "sanctuary" kicks ass! A bit slower than the CD version, but A LOT more aggressive and raw!
+MantasCronosAbaddon wrathchild is way different too
these came from the original Soundhouse tapes... The Soundhouse was a club that they used to play at a lot, helped them pay for and release this demo...
finaly a saw the fkn warhorse of steel at this cover.
no, these are different recordings. Recorded later than the Soundhouse tapes.
I love this version, and what a way to start this album. Especially sledgehammer and my favorite track from “Praying mantis” captured city.
the Maiden tracks recorded October 1979: Di'Anno, Murray, Parsons, Harris, Sampson.
Reliving NWOBHM is just AWESOME! 🤘😎
a purely fantastic version of " baphomet " by the godly ANGELWITCH ...
Tomorrow or Yesterday still one of my all time favorite tunes.
baphomet is the killer track on this
In this early version of Wrathchild you can really hear it's likeness to Deep Purple's "Stormbringer".
TOAD THE WET SPROCKET!?!?!?!!?
Not the same band.
@@F3502000 that 'Walk on the Ocean' guys ?
I said the same thing😕
Great stuff after all these years ...the forefathers of metal pioneers Hendrix sabbath purple zeppelin UFO thin lizzy kiss acdc priest gave birth to these metal legends
sanctuary que gran versión sale en este álbum
Tienes razon es buenisima!
nwobhm.....classic compilation.
There was a volume 2 of this compilation with a blue cover as I recall but nowhere near as good as volume 1 which I also still have on vinyl.
:-)
Edit: just found vol 2 on here also!
AND THE FIRST THING I WANT TO SEE IS SIR KURTIS CHESS MOVES
How on earth didn't these bands (other than Iron Maiden) make it big?
Ryan Thompson Guitarist Praying Mantis made it big in Japan and makes music to this day :)
Listen to Iron Maiden's first two albums and you will know why the other bands basically disappeared
short answer: bad vocals. at the end of the day that matters more than anything. Praying Mantis is a perfect example
@@chrisstafford6995 I always liked Mantis's vocals actually. They released one album and disappeared for 20 years, so maybe that's the reason they weren't as popular.
❤Show de coletânea
Great tunes,good times!!!!
I like this even more than in 82

I want this album but I don't know where could buy it. Very good album. Greetings from Finland!
I have this album I love it especially Captured City - happy days 👍
The power and energy is still blistering after all these years!
Felices 42 años.. Se creó un 15 de febrero de 1980
wow preety good with diffrent sound quality
That cannot be Bruce Dickinson in "Tomorrow or yesterday", almost has no resemblence to his later vocals.
According to the year, it has to be him, but man!, how much a voice can evolve in such a short time span.
No, that isn't Bruce. It's Paul Samson. The debut album was completed before Bruce joined the band.
There is a demo album of "Survivors" were Paul sings and he sang on the EP's before they made the first album.
F***KIN CLASSIC !!!
I just can’t believe I didn’t know this band sooner it is an honor to hear this.
