    So, just to be clear here, for $6700 CAD, $5500 USD, or $4000 pounds I can buy a flat top Les Paul with a stylish paint job, no options at all other than the pickups which both come in dogear P90 shape. That same amount of money will buy me a custom guitar from Moar Guitars, Indra Guitars, Maybury Guitars and many others where I can pick every option under the sun.
    This is the first time Orange has ever broken my heart and I don’t know how to feel. This pricing feels predatory for the privilege of a guitar with the Orange logo on the headstock. I’m sure these guys build an incredible feeling axe, but this still doesn’t feel right.

    • @jreagle58
      @jreagle58 3 года назад +2

      There won't be many takers. Orange's best case scenario is to convince a high profile guitar legend to tour with one. I do migrate to other brands than Gibson and Fender but this Orange custom shop guitar is a bridge too far.

    • @timothymallon
      @timothymallon 3 года назад +8

      I agree. They did NOTHING special with this guitar. Filtertron pickups, Tusq nut, Les Paul body shape with all the basic Gibson style hardware that goes with it. Basically a Stew-Mac special. Sorry, but I don't feel anything for this guitar...Anything! Plus the paint...lackluster!

    • @Kcapgar
      @Kcapgar 3 года назад +1

      I like it. It looks kinda cool with the binding and the mop orange logo. But I feel the price point should be somewhere closer to 1.5 to 2k Then I think it might be ok 👌🏼

    • @jreagle58
      @jreagle58 3 года назад +3

      @@Kcapgar I too like many aspects of the guitar and I am left with the impression this guitar can and is to be custom ordered so perhaps the options are not as rigid as it seems. For me the fact it is a flat top is not a deal breaker. I hate the dogear surrounds. Either install dogear P90's or ditch the dogear rings. If it was my order it would have an all white top and P90's. The binding I like and the headstock is unique so it can also stay. What it comes down is you're actually ordering a guitar from an independent luthier. I know luthiers that build LP replicas. They cost about the same as this one. Can I afford to buy those guitars? Absolutely not.

    • @Kcapgar
      @Kcapgar 3 года назад

      @@jreagle58 I don’t mind the dogear filtertrons all that much but also probably wouldn’t be my first choice either. The white and gold wouldn’t be either. I would probably want a black top more of lp custom look. Idk I still just don’t think people will shell out that kind of money.

I bought the O-Bass and I adore it, my old Hagstrom bass rarely ever gets picked up anymore. So if Ade ever reads this I have two asks, a guitar that's $1800.00 or less for us common folk, and I'd love to see the 10" Isobaric bass cab brought back. I didn't have the coin when they hit the market and they rarely come up for sale second hand, but I got to play one and just love that thick but not boomy bass sound. Okay, I really like this guitar and if I had $5000+ dollars laying around doing nothing I would do it. But if I read another comment criticizing that this guitar doesn't have the features of a modern shredder guitar it will be one too many. Guys, this is and old school rock guitar. It has 21 frets because the target consumer does not want or need 22. It has no belly cut. Neither does the most iconic guitar on the planet, the Gibson Les Paul (which, btw, this guitar takes many of it's cues). So if you're into old school single cutaway guitars like the LP or Gretsch Jet series, then this would be in your wheelhouse. If your thing is ESP's, Schecters and such with modern features like 22 frets, modern pickups and fast necks, I would say the Orange is not your cup of tea.

    • @bulkheadz
      @bulkheadz 3 года назад

      Literally any Gibson has 22 frets, that’s not like a modern appointment or anything. For the money, I’d rather buy a custom shop Gibson, or a real Gretsch. No doubt this guitar is a work of art but sort of out of left field, and even without the option for true, full fat humbuckers which is strange considering orange is known for heavier sounds.

    • @jreagle58
      @jreagle58 3 года назад

      @@bulkheadz Correct on the 22 frets. I suppose my comment directed at the observation that it only has 21 frets was taken as this individual wanted something in the range of 24 frets which is almost nonexistent on most single cutaways like this. Me personally anything above the 19th fret is unusable.

    I don’t care for the Gibson LP style inlays. Actually, I hate block inlays. It’s boring. Schecter’s line inlays look great and modern. I do, however, love the reverse Gumby style (Supro) headstock. I tire of every small company copying off the Strat and LP guitar shapes. Same goes for the traditional gold sparkle and 3 tone sunburst colors. Boring.
