The line, “it’s so strange, when you’re down, and lying on their floor, how you rise, shake your head, get up and aak for more” is personally very inspirational for me. The one line has empowered me at several points in my life. I grew up with this being my favorite ABBA song, I was very young when it came out, and it never achieved the popularity I have always felt it deserved.. it makes me so very happy to see the younger generation enjoying it.
But that one line is LIFE to me.

"When all is said and done" was on ABBA's last studio album back then which was "The Visitors" from 1981. So it was written after both couples had divorced. It's most commonly stated as Frida's and Benny's break-up song. They had been a couple for a long time but their marriage did not last long. As you can hear, it is not as dark and melodramatic as "The Winner takes it all". It's like an easier way to split up because you don't have bits and pieces being left behind. Let's say like children as Agnetha and Björn did have which makes splitting up more difficult in general.
As they always stated, the two songs don't reflect what really happened. The divorces just gave reason to write another story. So two songs, two possible ways to split up. And you can hear and feel it.
The looking back scenes are a reminiscence to "Knowing me, knowing you", their third break-up song, where they also did that in the video. It's kind of a symbolic action. Looking back whilst hopefully not being in anger.

Beside the fact that the lyrics were Written by Bjorn, Bjonr & Benny stated in interviews that both songs did not have been written ad break song on their own private situation, Though Bjorn also stated that the lyrics were indeed written and might be affected by their own situation although not meant to be.

This is one great song. Emotional, a bit desperate, but also forceful vocals. The Visitors is a great album, and the title track is one of the best songs they ever did. Even thought it's very gloomy, it makes you in a good mood, because it's so damn good :-)

You would love "The day before you came" from 1982. That was the then last recording they made after "The Visitors" album in 1981. This song "when all is said and dine" is on the Visitors album, 1981 which was released in December of that year. Summer of 1982 they recorded two more songs "Under attack: and " The day before you came"

This song is generally understood (by the fans) to be about Frida and Benny’s divorce. (This is their version of Agnetha and Björn’s ‘Winner Takes it All’.) Yet another beautiful break-up song from the masters of happy/sad catchy tunes with a melancholy twist.

    You like the up-beat vibe!? If you want an up-beat vibe from ABBA which will even get you more of these vibes;
thry an listen/react to a so-called 'previous unreleased' ABBA track which did not got released until 1993 on the
'More ABBA Gold' album: "I AM THE CITY", which, for me, is one of the best ABBA-songs ever released..
It's complicated, dancable, and só intriguing in its build-up: it's lyrics are very difficult to memorize as there are
nó repeats throughout (or maybe just the single phrase: 'yes I am the city, you let me be!'), and there are two
continuous singing moments which will make you end up gasping for air, as they take that long: AWESOME!
This 'I Am The City' hasn't been reviewd much, and I would appreciate it if you would like to listen to it here,
for the very first time, of course, for I can't wait to see your face light up all over once again by the joy that is ABBA!
Keep up the good work! I enjoy having you here! 😉😉 Kind regards from the Netherlands, and me, Eric 👋

Thx! They have in the first albums, but not only less known songs but very interesting in terms of creativity, where the production, the arrangements are not as complete but there are more ideas with sometimes weaker texts too. The album "abba" before the album "arrival"me seems the richest diversity in musical styles and creativity.

When All Is Said & Done came from the last album. As in the last album before the new one!
The song came after the divorces.
Personally, I thought this was their last great pop song from their last album. Some will disagree, of course.
Try their song I'm A Marionette for something different to their usual pop sound. A song covered by heavy metal bands!

Hey TCC Tyler Creates, you had me all time travelling with your discussion of what vids you'd dropped and when. You seemed to say that you'd dropped a review of Voyage before this one, but you hadn't actually recorded it at that point. Oh it confuses me. Anyway, "When all is said and done" and your reaction to it (which you're doing tomorrow). It's one of Abba's finest songs in my opinion. I think when Agnetha looks around at the camera, her emotion is (meant to be) one of sadness and loss, but you interpreted it as disdain. This is about 'looking back' literally and figuratively. A relationship has ended, but life goes on, and there's no hurry any more. No need to rush about, no need to please each other, no need to do anything but have a final toast and move on. I'm pleased you like this song. It's one whose meaning is easily understood by the over 40s and one that's harder to understand for the younger but you do seem to have got it. It would have been interesting to see what your wife had to say about the song too, but you did this one solo. I've subscribed following your wee plea at the end, as you're highly entertaining and you're done plenty of Abba.

Amusing that you had mentioned "The Ex- look", as they turned back. The amazing thing about their style, is yes, the music makes you happy, but if you read and soak in the lyrics, it's a breakup song, as is a lot of their other songs. Thanks for your reaction!
