The guy from the first couple just seemed so smitten with his fiancé. The way he smiled showed everything. Also, the last couple, the woman was just a delight. She seemed so nice and friendly, probably just awesome to be around and talk to.
Here in Scandinavian couple culture, house chores and work are almost always 50/50 between partners regardless of sex. So it was not surprising that the swedish guy did it as well.
I am from the US and I met my wife in Korea. We met in October, and she finally agreed to a chaperoned date in December (all of our dates were chaperoned), we were engaged in February and married in May. We will celebrate our 37th anniversary this May. We have three terrific adult children (34, 28, and 23) - I call them my Komerican children. Yes, international relationships and marriages are challenging, but there are a lot of great things that come from them too. We've always strived to mix or blend the best of both cultures. The oldest is an attorney in the US, but she is fluent in Korean (reads, writes, and speaks) and the youngest two understand more than they speak. I'm pacing myself, averaging a Korean word a year of marriage, but I really speak those 36 words really well. Love the videos, brings back lots of great memories.
@@lickos83 Initially, before we were married and when we were married but didn't have any children we were very discreet. My wife and I laugh now because she would not acknowledge me in public. Nowadays, we do not give it a second thought. Most times when people stare it's out of curiosity, so no harm is done.
It’s so beautiful to see those couples being happy in Japan, it’s something common in life and in international couples to struggle a bit in the beginning but if it’s real love it doesn’t matter where are you from, with time, love and communication you can afford this issues. Really great video takashi! Love from Panama 🇵🇦
So you`re basically saying that we should all just go with out emotions, go with what our Richard tells us, and betray our own genetic groups, our own blood, just so we can satisfy our base urges... Yeah, that`s not love, that`s lust. How could you possibly "love" someone so genetically distant from you? "Love" is what I feel towards my ethnic group and my ancestors, and I`d never betray them by marrying outside of my group. No matter what my Richard down there tells me. I don`t think people who are willing to marry outside of their ethnic group are even capable of feeling love. If they h@te their own genetic group so much that they`re willing to end their bloodline, If their don`t even love themselves and their own families, I don`t think they`re capable of love at all. But of course, You would never understand the desire to preserve your r@ce, genotype and phenotype, because you, my friend, are a Mestizo. But as someone unm!xed who belongs to a distinct people group, group self-preservation matters for me, a lot.
That’s because in Japanese you don’t ask a direct question “was that interesting?” You say “That was interesting, wasn’t it!” Japanese conversation conventions are based on agreement. Takashi is doing a good job communicating two thought systems by first asking the direct question but then following it up with a statement in the way that is expressed in Japanese although he’s speaking English.
Ah, the “friends” issue. Not a big thing but it’s come up for all the international couples I know. I admit feeling a bit left out at first when my girlfriend (now wife) didn’t invite me when she hung out with her friends. And she didn’t really want to hang out with ‘my’ friends. (Because they weren’t ‘hers’.) But after years of marriage (in Japan) we’ve shifted to a comfortable point somewhere in the middle. It all gets easier with time!
Maybe you should ask Japanese what they think about marrying a foreigner because dating and marriage are completely different. It’s easy to say yes to dating a foreigner, but it’s more complicated when it comes to marriage.
@@Primeminister7381 Hey do you mind sharing some of the major differences other than just average length of time (some couples can be together for many years without marriage so I can only think it's to do with the laws?)
A lot of the couples in this and other interviews were married. However, I have the feeling that that notion is a little outdated. I am almost im my 30s never been married and I don't think I ever will. The only thing that marriage is good for is: easier access to a visa, tax benefits in some countries and maybe some perks at work. However, my relationship is mine, I do not want the government meddling in it and, fortunately, my boyfriend thinks the same. Yet, we are in a very commited relationship and have no plans of leaving even without the legally-binding contract that is marriage.
@@ayuyade We are meant by THE CREATOR to marry for life, however marriage is just a promise of lifelong bonding as spouses, there is no obligation to involve the government at all, as the Heavenly Law of marriage is superior to the jurisdiction of all earthly governments. But sex outside of marriage is a sin and social cancer that brings a curse on the individuals and their society. Nor is obeying the Laws of GOD in any way "outdated" rather this world is outdated because of all the unrepentant sin. So a great deception is soon to come followed immediately by great tribulation which will remove all sin and unrepentant sinner from this world. Watch and see for yourself, I am not wrong about this.

This does not apply to Japanese women/culture but to each country and nationality of the world.
I have to say that it’s pretty humbling as an American to see all these people from all over the world on your channel, Takashii, who have so much English. 🤯 I took French for 4 years in school, and now I take it again as an adult, and I took some classes in the Irish language (because my husband is from Ireland), but I have SUCH a long way to go before I’d be fluent in either French or Irish. The rest of the world really puts us Americans to shame with regard to how many languages they speak. These are wonderful ☺️ I just watched the Japanese guy foreign girl video as well. My wife and I are an international couple 😊 She is from Utsunomiya, I am from NY. We met in Japan in 2005 and got married in 2008. We live and work in NY but stay in Japan in July and August during our summer work holiday and we are here in Utsunomiya right now 😊 As the first and third couple talked about, the separation of friends/groups is a big culture difference. I used to get frustrated because my wife is not interested in joining parties or events with my friends where they bring their wives, or joining events with my coworkers, etc. Even though I lived in Japan for 3 years and have experience with Japanese culture, when we moved to America after we got married I just assumed she would absorb American attitudes and “go with the flow” (she had lived in Florida for a year before I met her). The Japanese way of thinking about keeping groups separate is truly a foreign concept for an American.
4:40 Hi, you don't need to be in Japan once a year to keep your permanent residency status. Instead you can apply for a re-entry permit. In my case the re-entry permit is valid for 5 years. Even if you don't go back to Japan within the 5 years, you can still extend it in your country's Japanese embassy (I think for 6 extra years). I hope that information is useful for you two

Not really I was there 15 years ago and their English was very good. Plus it make sense since Swedish is a Proto-Germanic language plus as mentioned before it is taught in school at a early age.
I hear that's pretty common in a lot of places. The U.S puts out more TV shoes so a lot of places spell everything like the British, but they say it like Americans.
Very interesting interviews. I had Japanese roommates here in Canada and wish I had understood more about the Japanese culture at the time so there would have been fewer misunderstandings between us. Your channel has really helped me to understand some of what happened then.
I'm married with a Japanese woman, my wife is a polyglot and I only speak english, we go out for meals with groups of japanese people regulary and each time I just sit there and enjoy the langauge without a clue with what is being said, my poor wife trying to keep me in the loop is doing twice as much talking as she translates for me haha.
@@-Aidan I met my Japanese wife when I was 21 and started learning but never mastered it (it is officially the most difficult language to master for an English speaker) but any effort you make will be worth it, connecting better with your partner's family , friends and culture.
@@Stripemedia I wholeheartedly agree, it's difficult but I am learning more and more as it compounds up over time. Through my exposure to hanging out with Japanese people I sit back and just listen a lot to the language, I don't ask them to speak in English just because I'm there, which in turn helps a lot when learning! we hang with the same people so they've become accustomed to me quitely observing, but as I said in my original comment my wife keeps me in the loop and I throw out my comments here and there which my wife will translate as not everyone speaks fluent english, my comments are normally comedic so they enjoy my presence and feel though I don't speak a lot I'm still involved among the conversation. How is Japanese going for you Jamie? if you don't mind me asking how long now have you been learning, and have you done any kind of rigourous language learning or more of a passive approach?
I wouldn't overemphasize the difficulty for English speakers. The grammar is different but not convoluted - there are few tenses and not much agreement. Pronunciation is easy. When you don't know a word try it in katakana. There are great tools these days to practice spoken Japanese (including watching Japanese media with Japanese subs). I did 3 years in college, a few years on my own in my free time and then 9 years working/living in Japan. By year 2 living in Japan I could take part pretty well in conversation.
I would love to see a follow up video with the Japanese Russian couple. It's clear the man is happy in Kyoto and the woman prefers Tokyo. I can guess why, but I would have liked to have heard reasons for city preferences. This raises an issue of how to choose a place when two people have different preferred home cities.
All these people always say "A little bit" when they're asked if they speak japanese and then proceed to engage in a super detailed description about their experience. Im starting to think that they have adopted the japanese way and just say "a little bit" just to be humble
New subscriber here, and I love the content.. I have always wanted to visit Japan! And yes I am a black girl but I'm very fluent with anybody so I think I'll have a great time!
bro its my two favorite places/cultures, as growing up in Texas with lots of mexican friends and neighbors, and learning Japanese. i bet u eat some delicious meals? *mexican food is great*
These were lovely couples. I think all of them but one are true love, i wish them happiness together. I could feel their love for each other but most the first, 2nd and 4th couple, i think the swede and the japanese felt more like bf/gf than a loving married couple. the first guy really love his wife a lot and the third woman really loves her Russian partner. The last couple were cute and hopefully will always have more love than quarrels.
I think the friends issue is interesting. You most likely met your friends before you met your partner and there is no guarantee that your partner and friends will get along. So by having hangouts only with friends, this issue is resolved without hurting the feelings of anyone involved. Good for you Japan :)
Super interesting video, made me think about my own relationship with a partner from another culture. Love these videos! Wonder why the video is mirrored though?! Everyone looks backward 🤣
I relate so much the guy from Sweden. My Japanese crush is also very honest but at the same time he is still Japanese so he has that empathy towards other people and I'm absolutely in love with that. You see, among western friends you do say whatever you want but everyone is so focused on their own originality that getting any sort of empathy is difficult. Which is something that comes so natural from him and it's something I have always desired. But despite that there are still a lot of cultural and personality differences so thank you so much for these videos. We both are trying to compromise and learn about each other but I really want to educate myself more on your culture so it's going to get a little easier. I hope all these wonderful couples will have a long and happy life. Everyone is so helpful and amazing.
Takashii being surprised by the last couple was too cute~(ღ◕ܫ◕ღ) I hope you can do a video about Japanese healthcare. I have a friend who lives in Japan, and she said that Japanese health care is one of the best. Great video as always! More power~ ♡٩(❛ัᴗ❛ั ๑)
I think Japanese women dating white men outnumbering big time Japanese men white women. It's time for Japanese men to stop these white men visiting Japan.
I have a theme suggestion for you Takashi, I've seen people talking in videos that dating Gyarus is interesting because they're more open, would be cool to have interviews with Gyarus about dating and get some knowledge about their side, also, I don't know if there's a opposite of Gyarus for boys, but the other way would be interesting as well
That's super interesting what the first couple said about friend groups. That's something that I wouldn't even think about in Canada/US; we just invite a bunch of people we know when we have gettogethers and hope that everyone gets along and has a good time.
Big thumbs up for the videos. I'm loving to hear the pronunciation of the Japanese language but it's totally different from my native languages German and Dutch 😅🥰
Hi, everyone! 🙋🏻♀️ I wanna tell my history about my foreigner relationship. I'm argentinian and my boyfriend is Japanese. We meet on InterPals (exchange language page) a one year ago. We haven't had the chance to meet yet but we will soon. It was recently our first anniversary. I can only say that being with a person from another culture is a bit hard because sometimes there can be misunderstandings or something from the other can make us uncomfortable, but he's the best man I have ever met so I'm more than happy by his side. So my advice is, If you have the chance to be with a Japanese man, just do it, the experience is extremely wonderful. They're completely different to another men and you'll not regret at all. 💓 Just need more patient to understand the japanese culture. Greetings from Argentina, I love your channel and your country, of course! 🇦🇷🇯🇵

3rd couple, the guy was spot on with "japanese people dont really tell you what they feel" 4th couple too was right, its important to know each partner's background culture otherwise you'll be fighting or arguing
You should interview "international" married couples. I think that will really be really interesting and informative. I think you can also do it by recording a video call. I have a friend from the US who has been married to a Japanese lady for 30 or 33 years. He has lived in Japan for many years. I have recently suggested to my friend to write a book about his life because the has many interesting stories.
I mainly teach English to Japanese students and they are all so wonderful! Your videos are very interesting buddy and it's great to see different nationalities coming together! Japan seems like an awesome country and I will probably move out there one day! :D
Hey Takashi, I'm sorry to hear about the death of former prime Minister Shinzo Abe. I understand that it is a very rare occurrence in Japan as there is not much gun violence and your country is one of the most strict on gun laws. I also read that the Chinese went on to social media to celebrate his death and even calling for shopping holidays. Which is truly a sad thing because no one should wish death on anyone nor take the life of anyone just because we don't agree on somethings and live differently. I love Japan and it's culture and I know it may be a hard topic to talk about but if you could make a video about what the Japanese people think on that topic. That would be awesome, but again I understand it's a hard topic to talk about so if you're not comfortable with that. That's okay too. You're doing great with the videos you're making now, keep working hard man! God bless you and the beautiful country of Japan. ❤️

I'm married with a Japanese woman, my wife is a polyglot and I only speak english, we go out for meals with groups of japanese people regulary and each time I just sit there and enjoy the langauge without a clue with what is being said, my poor wife trying to keep me in the loop is doing twice as much talking as she translates for me haha.
learn the language my dude
@@HoLoCraftMoDz I am learning
The couple who met in russia seems so sweet
Terrific video. Thank you for sharing.
Yet again another great video, keep up the great work!!
All these people always say "A little bit" when they're asked if they speak japanese and then proceed to engage in a super detailed description about their experience. Im starting to think that they have adopted the japanese way and just say "a little bit" just to be humble
knowing people has never been so interesting before ... good job man.
It was fun also seeing you on Cathy Kat's channel recently
New subscriber here, and I love the content.. I have always wanted to visit Japan! And yes I am a black girl but I'm very fluent with anybody so I think I'll have a great time!
Great content as always, thanks!
Half Japanese, half Mexican here 🙋🏽♂️
If you ever need people for an interview :)
bro its my two favorite places/cultures, as growing up in Texas with lots of mexican friends and neighbors, and learning Japanese. i bet u eat some delicious meals? *mexican food is great*
These vids are so entertaining, Takashii keep it up!
Very good to learn about your culture and people
Parabéns pelas suas entrevistas. Eu sou do Brasil e gosto da forma como você aborda os assuntos.
I like to see happy couples, that's very cute :)
all of them are so cute. Great video.
Dude wearing the Pikachu shirt while his GF is wearing a kimono. What a GigaChad 😂
Your videos are amazing 😍
I think the friends issue is interesting. You most likely met your friends before you met your partner and there is no guarantee that your partner and friends will get along. So by having hangouts only with friends, this issue is resolved without hurting the feelings of anyone involved. Good for you Japan :)
Great video….very interesting conversations & couples!
Super interesting video, made me think about my own relationship with a partner from another culture. Love these videos! Wonder why the video is mirrored though?! Everyone looks backward 🤣
You videos are good. Very interesting. I enjoy them. Thank you
I relate so much the guy from Sweden.
Thank you bro for making video and I think you making a video for how was learning japanese
Haha that was pretty funny when Takashii didn’t realise we were married! 😂
I think Japanese women dating white men outnumbering big time Japanese men white women. It's time for Japanese men to stop these white men visiting Japan.
The last lady was so cute and smiley
She is!!!
that was so awesome!!! Thank you
Another excellent video. Really enjoying them!
I have a theme suggestion for you Takashi, I've seen people talking in videos that dating Gyarus is interesting because they're more open, would be cool to have interviews with Gyarus about dating and get some knowledge about their side, also, I don't know if there's a opposite of Gyarus for boys, but the other way would be interesting as well
The last couple was so cute
That's super interesting what the first couple said about friend groups. That's something that I wouldn't even think about in Canada/US; we just invite a bunch of people we know when we have gettogethers and hope that everyone gets along and has a good time.
Big thumbs up for the videos. I'm loving to hear the pronunciation of the Japanese language but it's totally different from my native languages German and Dutch 😅🥰
That Russian guy killed it, he’s so cool :)
Nice very happy for them
Hi, everyone! 🙋🏻♀️
I wanna tell my history about my foreigner relationship.
Just need more patient to understand the japanese culture.
Greetings from Argentina, I love your channel and your country, of course! 🇦🇷🇯🇵
Love your story!
Have y’all been able to meet in person yet?
Thank you for the interviews sir 😉
I learn a lot by watching your interviews .
Nice.. I always love saw an international couple.. Thank you Takashii for this amazing interview..
😂😂 I love how the first lady was so real!
"Yeah, he's hot so... 👀"
Gotta admit that's exactly how it be sometimes 🤭
….great Vid, guy!! Love it
3rd couple, the guy was spot on with "japanese people dont really tell you what they feel"
4th couple too was right, its important to know each partner's background culture otherwise you'll be fighting or arguing
yeah but he a Swede, they just as bad
@@RadioNul lol. stereotyping at it's best.
Great video. Congratulations Takashi. Greetings from Peru 🇵🇪 Arigato !!!!
very good interview guys keep working
When I come to Japan interview me tooo🤣🤣🤣🤣
So Interesting Please Make more of these!!!
It's adorable how you can clearly hear the Australian accent from the english of the lady of the last couple lmao.
Love your vids!!
I've read that both Koreas were celebrating also.
@@Old.School.Ronin.01 really? I haven't seen that. That's sad, I'm going to assume you're talking about North Korea ? Because I thought Japan has a good relationship with South Korea, but I could be wrong.
China is very much like Germany in the 1930, very dangerous.
@@rh4270 North & South. South Korea are allies but the last couple of years have a volatile relationship with Japan from what i i observe from Australia.
Ah man, that's sad to know. Thanks for the info tho. I'll look into it, I just wasn't expecting to hear south Korea would celebrate. Truly is a sad thing
This is very wholesome despite turmoil times in Japan and everything going on in the world. Thank you Takashii for bringing some of life's beauty and happiness on this platform!
Great videos, super interesting!!
Great video. The couple at 1:16 gives me hope. She does look like she is with Baby-san.
Great video!
The last couple are sooooooooo cute 🥰🥰🥰
Thank you so much❤❤❤
The guy from 6:00 looks like he is about to start a Fight Club
Great video and content, keep it up 👏👏
