I'm not a partisan for either side, although I've practice a good bit of Judo in the past, but man, seeing judokas square off against wrestlers is fun as hell. The diversity of techniques is very cool to analyse.
Great video but sometimes confusing as to who is who! it would also be useful to know what are the martial arts practised by the judoka's opponents. Thanks.
Sadly people don’t remember what happened when the Gracie’s showed up in the’90’s. They constantly berated judo all over the place, and flavor of the month fan boys bought into that. It persists to this day.

Keep in mind: This was mostly old school judo. It was way more complete and thorough. The current judo endorsed by the IJF is not as complete, and I have seen newer videos of judokas losing against other martial arts like wrestling and even karate. I've also seen judokas who seemingly lost their abilities when facing someone without a gi. I myself am practicing judo and I lament the removal of many techniques such as the leg grabs.
Judo, as any other martial art, is not well rounded, but judo has the advantage over all other forms of martial arts. The BJJ guys here please shut up cause you are part of judo and both are jujitsu.

You need to know how to strike as well so I think Russian Sambo is the best MMA technique with all the skills you need to know to defend yourself. It's the best!! Look at Fedor and Khabib who is the perfect example. I say this because your opponent may know striking like kickboxing and if you only know how to do judo or wrestling, then you may be in a world of trouble. You have to be well around. In the beginning of UFC, Royce Gracie used to dominate all his opponents until other fighters became very well-rounded and the rest is history. I think UFC fighter Matt Hughes said something similar to what I said.
How many of the top MMA fighters are having a Judo background? Did not hear of many, but I did not research, tbh. I see Judo only ahead of wrestling with Gi. Also Interesting to see wrestlers risking guillotine choke by enforcing a simple single or double leg takedown, without preparation and opponent control. Not very smart and only seen at intermediate level wrestlers in real life so far.
Not that many, especially because most contemporary Judo dojos don't practice leg grabs despite it being a part of it. What happens, though, is that a lot of wrestlers and BJJ guys incorporate Judo in their game to fill in the gaps left from training BJJ/wrestling exclusively, seeing as judo practice is great for learning leg trips, hip throws, and how to defend them.
noobs think that a judoka isn't able to perform kicks or hits/elbows, etc. Well, most of us can, especially the new generations. Because of the advanced MMA knowledge, we refine the judo technique to fit street fights. But the judo bond should really bring back the old judo rules for the Olympics, because at this point it's killing the sport; boring to practice and boring to watch.
In watching tons of MMA Ones a good Grappler has you, you're toast, but a great stand up with great takedown defense, is a grappler's nightmare, because it can take just one good punch and it's over and by having great takedown defense, not only makes it very difficult for the grappler, but makes the possibility of a knockout that much more possible.

Weird how every fight ended with a submission from a martial art that only has throws. Maybe they should do it on the ground next time and see if that changes that ratio.
But Judo doesn't have only throws. I've practiced at 2 different Judo gyms back in the day and both of them had days dedicated almost exclusively to ne-waza (ground fighting, which includes submissions and pins). In fact, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a variant of Judo with a bigger focus on ground techniques, which led BJJ to develop a lot of new techniques in addition to what was already found in Judo.
