Pianist, author, and cartoon bear Jeremy Siskind discusses how to create voicings for inversions and slash chords, then demonstrates using Bill Evans' iconic composition, "Waltz for Debby," which has lots and lots of inversions and slash chords! Видеоклипы
I very much like the chords used « in version » two… Great vid, thanks!
Inversion! Thank you so much Jeremy. Its so refreshing to hear these tips after years of jazz school telling us we must have the extensions on chords.
I would generally agree that extensions are stylistically appropriate…just not necessarily for inversions…

@15:20 More complex performance
Thanks J, good tips, and inspired me to sit down and play.
Thanks so much Jeremy. Your “simple” in version sounds great.

Jeremy,
Thank you very much for Basics of Jazz Theory course!
Michael
You’re welcome! There’s more to come!
@@JeremySiskind It makes me genuinely happy! Thank you Jeremy.

Ps I bought your Piano Solo course on Open Studio platform (when it was still possible) but I am not going to subscribe. I am about to finish practicing my most recent and probably the last (at least for a while) classical music piece and focus on your Jazz teaching.
Vinerison!
oh Jeremy those harmonisations that you play at the end after you modulate to A major are BEAUTIFUL
Inversion. Great video :)
So for Jeremy, of the 2 versions of Waltz for Debby, instrumental and lyrical, the instrumental is the "in" version. I think I am using the word correctly. ;)
I love your videos!
Thanks so much, Hood Piano Girl! Thanks for watching!

Excellent lesson, but maybe you could invest in a lavalier (clip on mic).
All the inversions of every chord are killing me.
You can do it!
