Thank you, thank you, Pressed the sub button. Your views and explainations have ignited me to pick up something I put down a while ago. I realised it tonight I need that back. With thanks again.
I’m going through depression and I am in a very dark place at the moment. I discovered art journaling years ago, stopped, and stumbled upon it again when I watched Dyan Reaveley from Ranger Ink. I confess I did a shopping spree before realizing that I won’t know what to do. So looking up art journaling for therapy, I found your video. It struck me deeply when you shared the 3 black pages and the next it just said “make it stop”, and I realized that you’re sharing your inner struggle and pain by showing us your art journal. I started crying. Thank you for sharing, and I don’t know how you are now, but I hope you’re doing good.
Thank you for your kind words and for sharing your experience. I'm really glad you've found the video helpful because my intention was to make a video essay on how to make your own art journal to help people in the same way art journaling helped me. Your words made me reaffirm why I've decided to become a psychotherapist in the first place: to help people in such a way I didn't get when I needed that kind of help. I'm doing good and I hope you're doing good too. If you're not, that's nothing to be ashamed of. No one has the right to tell you how you should or shouldn't feel. You are doing the best you can, given your life circumstances and given what you know so far. I don't know the intricacies of your life, but just know that chances are, you are doing way better than you might think. I can only imagine the struggle you're going through by having to battle such strong emotional turmoil on a daily basis. Even though it may seem impossible to do, but try to focus on the small achievements you did, instead of aiming for the "big ones." Sometimes, just getting up from the bed, even though your whole body is telling you not to, is a milestone in and of itself. Lastly, if you don't know what to do, it might be better to "just start," like letting your arm move the way it wants to move. All art materials are disposable and are meant to be used. The only way that you can misuse an art material is not to use it at all (at least according to me :)). Good luck in everything and I hope you find your path.
Vlatko I’m doing fairly better now, thank you. I have started to daily write down the things I am grateful for, even if it’s just “having a pencil to write with”, and that has helped me. And it is just as you said, art materials are made to be used. I just have to stop hoarding and use what I have. Thank you for your reply and encouragement. I hope to see your next art journal if you have more.
Wow! This was an awesome video. It gave me a lot of inspiration. A lot of the videos on here are the kind that are using expensive art supplies. Some think they have to have these items to make art and your video proved you don’t. It takes very little to art journal. I hope you are planning on more videos. Thanks for sharing.
This was really rare , I am on my 5th art journal book now and looking through them shows me my mental journey. Thanks for sharing this, really expressive and brave art🌼
My friend , it was very nice meeting you this evening , I like your content , please post more and if you come to atl again contact me so we can catch up .

I would think keeping a journal like that would bring you nightmares/bad energy/bad luck?
How do you get good at representing your feelings nonverbally?
Do you mind sharing what’s the name of your art therapy program?
