Ive been using the Parallel Axis Distortion PATB-2 for a few years now and is just am incrdible pickup. Very similar to a Duncan Distortion with a little more punch and some of the harsh highs rolled off. Perfect pickup IMO.
I learned of The Haunted I think when I was around 13-14 years old and bought a Decibel magazine or Revolver and there was a bonus 5 track CD will All Against All on it along with a track from Heaven Shall Burn and Diecast. What an absolute find
Even though he has his own signature SD pickup, I bet Jason Becker would really like how this pickup is voiced. That little lead section at 3:58 was nice.
I have one and I really dig the concept that Brandon has for the pup. Lots of clarity and versatilty even in low tunings, I can´t wait to take it to a studio🤘🤘
I wonder whether a PATB-3 Blues Saraceno coil and a PATB-1n Original Neck coil would make a good neck counterpart to the Dyad, assuming the former coil could be replicated with the 1n's pole spacing.
Interesting design! I'm also a fan of passive Seymour Duncans. The JB+59 combo does everything I need. Peak Brandon worship is to wire one of these in a pink guitar. That's how you unlock the +15 shred wizard perk
The Parallel Axis line is really underrated. The PATB Original is like a clearer Duncan Distortion to my ear. All the thump of a Screamin' Demon with the mids and highs of a Full Shred, but more output. The string separation and clarity on this pickup under that much distortion is really nice.
This SD pup was new for me. I do have PATB-2 installed @ my -89 / -90 MIJ Charvel 475 DLX with a JBJr. as a neck PU. Both of 'em works fine w Mesa Quad Pre. No need to add stompboxes (T.C. Electronic G-force). Both respond well 'nuff to my touch ... light or heavier attack. Just angle the Dunlop Jazz III a bit, and you'll find RR's and Zakk's flute, when ever needed. 🤩🤘💪
Just throwing this out there; I would personally always make a comparison when doing these videos. You can make any pickup sound good but if you were to use your signature SD Solar as a reference then it would be a lot more helpful to show the character of a pickup :)
@@mrcoatsworth429 I suggest you try understanding what Glenn's saying mate, pickups sound different, whether you can hear it or not, Glenn makes them sound similar through his recording process, he NEVER said all pickups sound the same....
Might have to get an S by Solar just to see how it holds up to my Jackson... Of course one has gotten some love put into it and one is a budget guitar, but I think it would be even better in that case if the guitar ends up holding up really well to the Jackson!! ;)
That does sound pretty space age, it's almost like glass on the album Verminous, can swear i can even hear the string sliding on the fret. wow. is the pick-ups in the video. One of the albums is a totally different story . that is an incredible sound.

Just put this in my Solar, its a BITCH to get in Europe, but the guys at Sweetwater were nice enough to send it here even though they only really deal inside the US. but my god, it`s the sickest pickup i have ever tried, hands down
ive had emg 81/85 in my esp eclipse for 20 years and they do the job - the only criticism i could have is that there is alot of noise with high gain so you gotta mess around with settings alot to get the desired sound - but this goes for any active high gain pups. like others are saying, it's more about your knob dialing on the amp/pedals than the pickups.
Guys! My Peavey head is doing the same high frequency squealing noise (3:44) when I switch to the high gain channel. How could I resolve this? Will a noisegate help?
That is true. There needs to be more videos that give you the full comparison but I'm sure they can be very time consuming and Ola is a busy guy. Would love to hear the original pickup and individual clips of this pickup in normal and flipped orientations. Either way, I feel very confidant that the Brandon Ellis signature pickup is among the best pickups you can get to cover a huge range of metal tones. Brandon is among the very best shredders I've ever heard and his vibrato is insane! Was already considering buying the DiMartini pickup but now I know that I will be getting the Brandon Ellis DYAD for my Ibanez project guitar.
yeah I guess you can go check the particular s by solar video of this guitar to hear it the best: ruclips.net/video/Yn1A2Zc6UbE/видео.htmlsi=pBwo04nKfWPuu9w-

Well he did chug on the red channel for the last two minutes of the video? But clearly you didnt watch that and were too busy shoving your doinky in the oven door after preheating some buffalo wings
I think it's rather sad that a lot of these pickup reviews are now being trolled by Glenn's subbies. Glenn has NEVER said all pickups sound the same, but that's the line now being peddled by a bunch of his followers. Glenn uses his studio to make things sound similar , but has NEVER said they all sound the same, and they don't. Pickups sound different, it's not even hard to establish this, different magnets give pickups different characteristics, it's not hard to work that out either. I wish these people would educate themselves and stop trolling these video's, it's getting kinda embarrassing... I suggest watching a video made with Rabea Massaad , Nolly and Bare knuckle pickups going through the design of a new pickup , and listening too all the prototypes through Nolly's setup. Also remember, just because you can't hear it, doesn't mean it's not there, all ears aren't created equal...
Watch a video of people who have their own pickups/make pickups. Yeah, sure, no bias here at all. The differences in pickups are not worth spending tons of money on them, 99.99% of people are better off getting an EQ pedal or just actually playing around with their current setup. "Educate yourself", if only people did that, life would be better.
Hey Ola you should bring brandon Ellis on your coffee segment
Yes!!!
And Marc Rizzo 🎸🤘🏼📶📶📶📶🎇💫✅🙏🏼
TBDM will be on tour in Europe this summer
HELL YEAH!!Brrr Brrr DnT!😂
Great idea! Absolutely
Thats my favorite haunted song at the start. How I found your channel back in the day was searching for haunted videos.
Yessss! After seeing you comment on his Instagram post I was so excited for this video.🙏🤘🏼 Thank you Ola!
Opening the video with one of my favorite haunted riffs.. bless you Ola 🙏🏻
I used some of these pickups in 94 they are amazing as is Brandon the duel voicing idea is awesome too
YES !!! ALL AGAINST ALL !!! Literally my all time favorite riff.
Love the sonic inspired color scheme Ola! Lol that blue finish is sick!
This might be one of the best pickups I've heard. Definitely want a set.
I’ve been waiting for this video. I’m thinking of putting this in my single pickup guitar
Classic All Against All riff. To this day it's still one of my favorite The Haunted songs.
That Solar guitar looks killer with the dark blue color and the black bindings and hardwear !
I would love to see this blue finish in a flying v, holy shit that's gorgeous
Wow! The finish on that guitar is amazing. And it's an affordable S by solar...I need it now.
I had the original Trembucker, it’s a monster pickup
Brandon ❤ also, incredible sounds coming out of that S by Solar with that pickup...❤
Sounds pretty sick!
Some badass pickups right there.
Sounds nice and heavy. As all the other pickups in Ola's guitars.
I have the original parallel axis, and I love it

Brandon is so sick and his choice in using Seymour Duncan is spot on.

The Parallel Axis Original set is pretty much that pair, the neck being also somewhat similar to a Jazz, with the unique pole pieces.

I might be wrong, but I think the first parallel axis was a Blues Saraceno signature model, Kiko Loreiro used it for years, with Tagima guitars.
blues Saraceno had a signature model like that in the past ? on his Yamaha ... if i remember correctly ... it was in the 90's ...

Make a V in that colour with a tune matic bridge and single pickup please.
Yeah, thought so. watched again it's just the Pickup. Good Mod for my JS22.
Nice Slayer - Jesus Saves - Riff at 4:33.
Should come standard in the s by solar guitars lol
It’s only been 35 years since SD has done anything with the parallel axis design, sounds like a BL 500xl with more output

Every guitar amp needs a noise gate, especially a peavey. I play with actives all the time and it's important to have a noise gate

Yep, just order em online. Im in Canada and have 2 Solars, I love em.
Alnico 2? That's very low output for a metal pickup. That'll definitely help with clarity. Most passive metal pickups are alnico 5 or 8.
Alnico 2 is used to roll off highs
Still prefer the OG Parallel Axis.
Idk, the low end sounds a bit muddy to me. Could just be my ears.
Me too. I wonder if that is the IR because those EVH amps are notoriously tight af.
