"What?" has become one of those iconic songs of SB19 that elicited so much curiosity about the group's presence in the music industry in the Philippines when it was released. The song is so different that people started to dive deep into who these artists are. I believe their intention for this song is to create a ripple in the industry to not just create music that we are already familiar with, but that there is so much to discover when it comes to music. People have always had their own standards when it comes to the music that they like, and here is this group who would always like to break ground and tries to be progressive in inculcating their artistry in whatever they do. They are true artists I must say💙

It’s really different & you’ll totally be confused because SB in SB19 means “SOUND BREAK”. They want to break the normal typical sound or music we commonly hear…promoting more the Filipino pop music. Just be open to all other possibilities this group can offer when it comes to different beats, tempo & sound. 🇵🇭

Yes, the music sounds different from what we usually hear. SB19 made it intentional. After all, the message of the song is about embracing uniqueness and individuality.
Watch their lyric video first of their song MAPA which has 73M views, then tilaluha, mapa, Bazinga and go up at ASEAN Round festival to know more about their music.
Our fandom is actually happy you called What? crazy, disjointed, very different and that you were disoriented right after 😂😂😂😂 What? was made to play the melody in their hearts at the time it was made, so this song paints their worldview as a group. It has a behind the scenes making video btw, in Simon Servida's channel (if you're curious how that song became like that).
The composer Pablo, who is the leader of SB19, is a big fan of Queen. Bohemian Rhapsody is one of his favorite songs, just sayin'. 'What?' is the flagship song of their comeback album 'Pagsibol'. Pablo wrote and composed all the songs on the album. I suggest you listen to 'Mana' next. Sad to say there's no MV but there are performance videos. 'Bazinga' is another must listen, it's an all English song and was #1 for 7 weeks on Billboard's Hot Trending Songs Chart, the only non-KPop, Southeast Asian, Filipino group act to achieve the honor.

Thanks for your reaction! SB19 does not limit their group to 1 genre hence, you will be hearing ballads, EDM, rap and dance songs.
All of their songs were written by their leader, Pablo, and most were also co-produced by him.
As to recommendation, MAPA Lyric Video is a must! It's one of their ballad songs and a tribute to all the parents/guardians out there. Also, I suggest that after watching the MVs or Lyric Video, you should watch a live performance too. They sounded better live than the studio one. 😉

"What" is actually the best to showcase their capability in music, just because they are so versatile. If you react in sections, you can probably judge their capabilities. Just don't think that all their music is mashed like this, this song is unique. The other songs they have are either straight ballads, alternative rock, pop, advert jingles, or whatever genre I have not encountered. probably.
I have just watched your RV’s to SB19. Pablo is a Poetic Erudite and a wordsmith, the lyrics of SB19 songs is written brilliantly. The lyrics of their songs has a double, triple entendres that requires brains to dissect to analyze and understand. With that said their Vocal textures and harmonies conveys/elicits the emotions that they are trying to convey.

Their leader, Pablo (the one who started rapping first), is their songwriter/lyricist, and he does a lot of wordplay with double meanings. He is their main rapper and lead vocalist. He does their line distribution. He has a solo project called La Luna. Ken, the one on the throne with the low voice, is their main dancer, lead vocalist and lead rapper. He has two solo projects called Palayo (R&B) and Bulan. He performed Bulan on Grammy’s Global Spin. Josh, who came out of the elevator, is their lead rapper, lead dancer and sub-vocalist. Justin, the one in blue looking out a window at the world, is the youngest and their creative director for the MV. Stell, the farmer wearing a hat, is their main vocalist, lead dancer and choreographer for this MV and most of their songs. His vocals are insane with a high range. All of the members actually can rap. Hope you can react to Bazinga, both the MV and their dance rehearsal. This song is weirdly disturbingly satisfying. It is like Bohemian Rhapsody. I love how the title vibes on how you el while listening to the song and at the end of the song, you will see your head slightly banging with the song and finally you see SB19 in your head saying "Gotcha!"

It is really the intention of this song, Pablo wrote this to capture the listeners' attention, not the norm and mid boggling
Hope you dive deeper into these guys. They are a whole package with lots of different genre's. They all dance, rap and sing. Pablo writes most of the songs, Stell creates most of the Choreography with Ken. Justin, the youngest, is the creative director behind many of the projects including "WHAT". Every song has deep and sometimes double meaning. Most of their official MV'S have English subs and it really helps to understand the songs. After that there isn't one bad live performance at all. They are better live!
There is no single songs that I would say that will summarize SB19's music. They do every single genre lol
The song feels like a medley because it's five stories in one music composition. A summary of how five members of the Group differ from each other.

Thanks for reacting to What. You are right that the unique sound of the song is intentional. Pablo (the leader and composer) said that he wanted the sound to be different for each member because the song is about raising your own flag and embracing your unique self. "Flag" in Filipino is "Watawat", hence there is a part in the chorus "Wa-wa-wa-watawat" and the last syllable sounds like "What?". Pablo likes to use wordplay. Also, the song will really make you think "What is happening here?" the first time you listen to it. For me, it gets better as you listen to it for the 2nd and 3rd time. It's like your brain gets used to the music. Also, this song is so awesome live.
Anyway, try listening to "Bazinga" and their most popular pop ballad "Mapa". Mapa has a lyric video, please make sure to turn on English subs to appreciate the lyrics. SB19 songs have great lyrics and messages.
I subscribed to your channel when I saw this RV about SB19 though TBH I have watched your other RVs before to other Ph artists. What? is the first song that all the members of SB19 were involved with from the composition of the song, to the choreography and the conceptualization of the MV. And What? means raising your own flag or being proud of your identity. I appreciate your comments about the song & the MV. SB19 can tackle different genres and they are very good in live performances. I suggest that you watch their live performances from the ASEAN Round Festival which was held this Jan. 2022. The festival was supposed to be done in Korea in 2021 however because of the pandemic it was moved to this year and all performances were just recorded. SB19 performed 5 songs and all of these were done live. They performed What?, Bazinga (a song for their haters/doubters), Go Up (the song that made them go viral) , MAPA (a tribute to their parents) and Tilaluha (about unrequited love, it literally means Stop Crying). The last 2 songs are ballads. They are also included in the You Tube Fan Fest Philippines 2021 where they performed live, Mana (about a mythical creature in the Ph (the Manananggal whose body separates at the waist, the upper half has wings and can fly leaving the lower half on the ground) it's about soaring high to achieve your dreams while remaining humble keeping your feet on the ground. All these songs were composed by their leader Pablo. Hope to see more of your RVs about SB19 on your channel!

Hi, thank you for an SB19 reaction, I love discovering new SB19 reactors. What made this song sounds so different is the sections (if you can call it that) which they want to show each of the five- member's personality. The happy vibe at the end shows their haters change of heart after all the bashing and being critical to them when they were just starting. They are genuine dudes, if you could watch their interviews and documentaries way back. By the way, I wish to see your reactions on their "Bazinga" live performance at Wish 107.1 bus, and "Mapa" live performance as well either the band version or the one on TV where they were wearing white outfits. You should check out the video of Simon Servida - he produced this track for SB19 (the changes in tempo and melody are deliberate as designed by the group’s composer - leader - rapper, Pablo). He’s brilliant.
