One of the main reasons moved from the UK to the Philippines was the ridiculous cost of living, which is getting worse and my retirement age working as a paramedic was 70 years of age. Now living here, and working at sea, I'm, 'semi,' retired at 55 years old. I should fully retire, if I want by 60 God willing. We are not rich and have no car, but we have easy access to transport when we want it. We live in rural Abra and although we have access to more funds, if needed, we have lived on a budget of 1,000 peso daily for both of us. Our home is a one bedroom single story set in the middle of the Abra valley. Tonight, I did my normal few hours swim watching the sun set over the mountains with the birds singing and a cool breeze. Pure heaven

I am in a predicament now. I had a Filipina girlfriend, and my family said it's better to bring her here to live, get a greencard, and possible citizenship. But I plan to move to the Philippines, and my girlfriend prefers to live in the Philippines. Every day that goes by I am seeing its not really worth bringing here since, so what should I do? Any tips or advice. Also, I'm not an older guy younger than 30
Hi, how long have you two been a couple? How old is she? You have plenty of time to figure out a plan, one that works for you both. Do you like the PH? Is there a way you can live\earn here? If you end goal is to live in the PH with her, and you both prefer that end goal, then it does NOT make sense to go through everything to get her to the US. Being young gives you all the time in the world to sort things out.
@@PHExpatPrepper We been together about a year. I went to the Philippines already and we met in person. She is currently 22 i am 25. I do like the Philippines i was not born in the US its really similar to my birth country so i did not feel out of place or culture shock. To earn i have some IT certifications I will get a remote job and I'll VA disability worth 4k a month. Yes we both prefer the Philippines for safety, health and school system there. Lots to do there for fun, right now i am just working and doing school just seems like i am existing, when i think about being in the Philippines there is so much we can do to pass time and the life we can live is so much better. Also not having to work so much for bills and stressing about money will be great. I do not hate the US i am grateful for the US and always will be, do not want it to come off like that.
Sounds like the move makes more sense for several reasons. VA disability will go a long way here compared to US, however consider if you need ongoing medical support, the MNL area from what little I know has the only VA facility. You would need to research more on that. No worries, I love the US, but its not in our plans either. Again, you are young still.. before getting married, move yourself here, get setup with an affordable place, try to live simple until things look better. Take your time..
@@PHExpatPrepper I see thank you. You are not tell the bad there! It not perfect there I know my x wife was from there i went there and know the bad there as well. I will tell anyone you really need to do your homework before moving and maybe just live there for a year 1st.
You are very correct there are issues here, just like anywhere. You have to do the research on where you would like to stay, and make wise choices. For example I would NOT live in any of the bigger cities, as the province life suits us really well. And we did just that, visited often over a 10 year period as we planned for the move. Thanks for watching, and commenting.
Very rare for a local graduate to have any debt. Sure, its still a bleak job market, and they will have to start and work hard for a while until they get a decent job. BUT.. is better than just being uneducated and poor.
@@PHExpatPrepper yep, I’m a local, it wasn’t cheap back then but we didn’t go in debt at least. And that same education is enough as it gave me a chance to work in the US for a few years..so.. not that bad

I hear you. You would need 3k USD to live nice here, less if you are more simple. That is a month. That is out of reach for a lot of folks sadly, and is for sure not enough to live in the USA anymore. Plan.. save, and when ready make the move.

My wife and daughter just returned from her sister's wedding in Manila and it was unbearably hot for them. They both suffered heat exhaustion and are recovering here at home in nice 70° dry weather.
Mr. PH Expat Prepper, where are you and your wife located in the Philippines?
Baras Rizal Luzon
@@PHExpatPrepper I see. I came from the Cordillera. But I never been there.
@@ethiehetherington5086 It is a very small town out in the countryside.. a LOT of people have never even heard of it. But it is nice out here.
@@PHExpatPrepper Good to know you're enjoying home. God bless.
Since you are a u.s. veteran, can you submit your medical bill in the u.s. ?
I am NOT a veteran. Not sure how that may have come across. However there are several here that have YT channels that have this info. Steve here is a great resource www.youtube.com/@MrSteven5975
The cost of living is lower in the Philippines, but what about wages? What are wages like there?
Less than 10 dollars a day legal minimum wage.
I assume you are asking about what 'you' could make? Simple answer.. you will want a biz, or work online with a US company. Local wages are not very good.
Just subscribed..
Thanks MeryRose
Whats your VA disability rating %?
None.. not a vet, nothing that counted anyways. Thanks for watching.
Yeah being young there is not a lot of videos for younger people most guys that are moving are older guys but for me I've always wanted to move out of the US i was 15 years old then. I just do not want to spend money and time to bring my woman here when its not worth it since both of use prefer the Philippines anyways. Thanks for the advice

@@PHExpatPrepper little known to other countries that you can live here a very simple life, that lives can go on and on.
@@wilburtuason967 I guess.. its just so strange to me.. maybe due the fact that I have always traveled, and a lot of folk in the US have never even go a passport.

"...if you want to live on a beach but not pay Hawaiian prices for it." Bingo! Like $15 for a fresh coconut...😆
There are world class beaches here in the PH, and it is VERY affordable to live right on one. Thanks. Coconuts here are almost free..as they are so abundant.
More retirees in the US are not in to RUclips yet so the message moving to the Philippines 🇵🇭 they don’t know .
That is true, but one would think that all the NAVY guys would know. Thanks for commenting.
Oh yeah, student loan.. not common. Sure, parents might be in debt at times, but you won’t owe thousands and thousands of USD
A lot of us want to leave the US but simply don't make enough money to move or we are in situations beyond are control at the moment. I'm investing in the crypto market while it's down and hopefully in 2-3 more years, they'll take off so I can leave this hellhole!
I hear you. You would need 3k USD to live nice here, less if you are more simple. That is a month. That is out of reach for a lot of folks sadly, and is for sure not enough to live in the USA anymore. Plan.. save, and when ready make the move.
Hi Mr prepper. Whereabouts are you? I'm single retired Filipina scouting province to retire in. Have relatives in PI but don't know them so I'm kinda like an regular expat. I am tired of the stress of "woke" and race bullshit daily in the news. I need peace stress-free life. Just subscribed to your channel.
Avoid retiring near your relatives ,especially ,if they are poor and uneducated ,as you may hear a knock at your door, even before you wake up in the morning ,with them begging for money with drama involved .
There are SO many great little towns in the Province. I would come visit a few different kinds, Farming towns, Beach towns, Mountain area.. ect. One of them will tug at your heart.
Its a given, you just have to set boundaries and rules. It will not be perfect, but they will understand. Even if the pout a bit.
@@truthhurtsalways4u thanks.
Hmmm,,,,food not good, horrible medical facilities, hot sweaty weather, bad internet,,,etc etc,,,,,But if u want to live in PI,,,,goodluck
Well.. been coming here for over 20 years.. living full time now for 10. So yeah, I am doing just fine here. Food is what you cook..I live in a farming town, super fresh and plenty of veg, meat. I have excellent Internet. But not everyone likes it here. We live really nice and have all that we want. Except debt, we have none of that here.
