15 months of treatment stage 1 HER 2 positive. Did every treatment - margins clear and lymphnodes all clear. I am very lucky that I caught it in time. My onocologist and surgeon agreed to treat it aggressively. Also checked myself out with gynecologist and gastroenterologist - all clear. I have to be diligent on follow ups. STAYING POSITIVE IS KEY.

I did three rounds of chemo, felt a bit shit, but that was it really. I did a 15km walk during chemo. I lost a toenail for my trouble, but that was it. The worst was feeling a bit bilious, but I had anti-nausea meds and it was a breeze all things considered. The main pain was having to be careful cleaning my cat litter tray, but I had gloves and masks. Looking back, I did good: went to my chemo wearing make-up and a pretty scarf, and watched a lot of crap on television, but I was fine. I even cooked and cleaned myself. I did my shopping myself. I also prayed for strength. I did it during winter so that probably helped a lot. No heat to deal with. I also ate a lot of protein: chicken livers, steak, etc.

I consider myself to be extremely fortunate that samples of my breast cancer were sent to America. The results showed that due to medication that I have to take for the rest of my life, that I must not have either Chemotherapy or Radiotherapy as either of those would annihilate all the good that my life long medication has been doing. So, after a single mastectomy, I went to straight to Hormonal Therapy. Yes, I had side effects….Hot flush on Day 9 of HT; then again on Day 18 and a third on Day 27….and nothing since. The way I looked at it was that the following year after the mastectomy; I would be 69 and was too old for vanity. That was the main decider of my treatment….which I don’t regret for at all.

Was on a trail program (Hercules) for 2 and half years. Im Her 2 positive stage 4. Cancer reaccurred and was taken off. Had a mastectomy last November 2017. Im on Herceptin and diahorea is bad and I am done! But im not ready to die. I am only 48. My dr thinks I maybe allergic to Herceptin. Waiting for results and going for a colonoscopy on Tuesday. What is my options if Herceptin is no option for me? I am Frome South Africa and receive treatment at Cape town.

I’m going through chemo now for Triple positive. I pray I don’t have a recurrence. It’s been rough. I still have surgery and radiation to go.
