The second week is when the game really starts. The first week, their is usually one person everybody wants out, but in the second week you actually have to target somebody.
I also find it odd that the 5th HOH has never won the game either, especially considering that it typically ends the prejury stage of the game and sets the stage for the jury
Might just be coincidence but I wonder if being the final HOH before jury starts makes you an easier boot to start the jury phase on? I'd have to look into it more, but off the top of my head I know Bayleigh at least was evicted immediately after her week 5 HOH

Welp Michael has officially made it to top 6 so now he gets to play in every veto the rest of the way so they’re in for a hard time trying to get him out how. Maybe they can get him in next weeks double since it’s gonna be bang bang between evict & the next hoh & veto Comp. but Terrence did say he will most likely not vote for Michael if he’s on final 2 because he feels like Michael only told them about the Kyle thing a game leverage (which he did) in order to make sure he/Brit/Taylor stayed this week. Terrence also said he’d do everything he could to sway the jury not to vote for Michael. Gonna be interesting to see how this season finishes up.
I wonder what happens in a world where Kaysar does what he should’ve done and nominate ChillTown in Week 2. He made such a dumb move playing safe because Will and Boogie were never going to keep him safe-he was always their first target from the Sovereign Six, and once Janelle won POV in Week 5 (which Will, Boogie, AND James all let happen) Kaysar was done.

Also, I'm glad you gave your thoughts on if this curse actually exists, because as far as that's concerned, it only seems to extend to the U.S. Because BBCAN is a different story altogether. 2 people won their season while also winning the 2nd HOH (Jillian and Dane), technically THREE if you want to count Kevin winning the 2nd HOH in BBCAN3, it just took a 2nd season for his win to kick in. And speaking of, Demetres could've also won BBCAN5, if things had played out differently. And we may never know how BBCAN8 would've turned out, but Sheldon as the 2nd HOH had a high probability of winning that season had COVID not happened. So winning the 2nd HOH is not a death sentence if you know what you're doing.
I love that you brought up Canada and curses bc while the Week 2 HOH Curse does not cross the border, the Week 5 HOH curse does, and arguably with more dire consequences (Think Jess, Victoria, and Zach from BBCAN3).

Krista went against her alliance for her own personal opinions, making her a target later by Kent. 3. Marcellus absolutely needed that win but he got too big a head afterwards, or at least that's what I'm remembering. 4. Jee played terribly that week and got his own ally evicted. 5. Marvin was played by the four horsemen and did their bidding that week. 6. No...he sealed his own fate. 7. Kaysar...can't think of much that was overwhelmingly negative about that reign. Although probably should have nominated Chilltown. 8. Jen threatened people, got everyone to hate her more, and didn't even get out her original target. 9. James & Chelsea. Chelsea definitely got the bad reputation because of that one comment, plus James became a target quickly afterwards and had to win to stay in the game. 10. Jesse was just that negative presence that is associated with the 2nd hoh. 11. Ronnie absolutely screwed himself by playing too hard too fast. 12. Rachel may be iconic now but let's not forget she was still very much disliked by the house and the viewers at the time, and seeing her in power didn't help her image. 13. Despite the fact that Ky would've been sitting next to X, I think he could've won simply becaue he proved to be a competitor. If he emphasized that in his speech, I think he could've gotten votes from people like DX, Tiff, maybe Claire, and maybe Brittani. I do think it would be close either way.

I do think the curse will be broken in the next few seasons just because the big alliances the second hoh can become super well insulated with the big alliances

Xavier won week 2 HOH. I think it just depends. If the first HOHwas strong and powerful then you are probably in trouble. if the 1st week HOH was a bust then it's fine to win this HOH.
Cappy isn't a great example of a failed Week 2 HoH imo. In fact, without hindsight it was probably the MOST successful second HoH ever! He was able to use his HoH to solidify such a stable structure that had half the house were deathly loyal to him and the other half bar 1 or 2 people not looking at him as their target. Had anyone besides Kaysar or Janelle not won the Week 3 HoH, Cappy was pretty much in a golden spot for the rest of the game, as Kaysar wouldn't have been able to put together an opposing alliance without the leverage he had as HoH, and once Cappy's side had the numbers he would have the votes to stay even if he was nominated thereafter.
This is the US and we are only US focused ok? Actually an introvert BETTER win the first or second..preferably first HOH. Then you get hounded by people and you have no choice but to be social. So all this about "Don't win the first HOH" is completely stupid to me. There is no easier way to get to know people in that house than to be the HOH winner.

Xavier won week 2 HOH. I think it just depends. If the first HOHwas strong and powerful then you are probably in trouble. if the 1st week HOH was a bust then it's fine to win this HOH.

Cappy isn't a great example of a failed Week 2 HoH imo. In fact, without hindsight it was probably the MOST successful second HoH ever!
He was able to use his HoH to solidify such a stable structure that had half the house were deathly loyal to him and the other half bar 1 or 2 people not looking at him as their target. Had anyone besides Kaysar or Janelle not won the Week 3 HoH, Cappy was pretty much in a golden spot for the rest of the game, as Kaysar wouldn't have been able to put together an opposing alliance without the leverage he had as HoH, and once Cappy's side had the numbers he would have the votes to stay even if he was nominated thereafter.
Nakomis should have won that 2nd HOH, I love Kaysar and her but she deserves better

This is the US and we are only US focused ok? Actually an introvert BETTER win the first or second..preferably first HOH. Then you get hounded by people and you have no choice but to be social. So all this about "Don't win the first HOH" is completely stupid to me. There is no easier way to get to know people in that house than to be the HOH winner.

Paul had some of the WORST jury management ever. You can play well all season, but if you cannot manage a jury properly, you won’t win the game.
