As an illustrator, this video and comment section just makes me sad.
I've spent a full decade honing my craft and now it's being torn apart before my eyes and turned into a subscription based mobile app.
Nobody can make a living off of art anymore except for a couple of higher-ups at Microsoft; there is nothing to integrate into, there is nothing to adapt to. AI is a pure human replacement mechanism.
And it's even sadder to see how many people are willing to sacrifice others just to get a toy, either hoping or not knowing that it's only a matter of time before they're next.

nah man, people who used AI art got their engagement and statistics tanking hard
and people Avoid it because people actually can distinguish AI created stuff,
they even labeled those stuff as lazy.
therefore your content or product must be bad if you're taking shortcut like that
why? because there are no Art direction, no consistency, the art was used as it is without being modified further.
therefore it was easy for people to generalize all AI Artwork as a cheap AI generated stuff.
in youtube alone, there are thousands of videos that used AI Artworks, and they all look like each other,
you can't even distinguish what channel it was from the thumbnail alone.
and most of the time, that kind of AI Art was used by an Amateur or Bot channels.
therefore, when people see AI Generated Art, they'll automatically think of it as an Amateur or Bot channel,
      and just ignore it.
here is the thing, i think you know this already but, illustration made by real person are kinda badass, ambitious and ground breaking.
because people always trying to do groundbreaking things all the time, and their efforts shows.
just look up at 2010-2020 Artstation or Deviantart Art, people are actually kinda crazy, how strong they are at that time.
if you actually compared that side by side, AI Art can't even hold a candle.
nowadays, people stop posting anything on Artstation. and actually Artstation was in decline

you could even create your own datasets out of your own arts.
you could modify and improve the works of AI to be in line into yours, something that AI Bros could never do because of their lack of experience.
the fundamental skills always needed, the tools might change, but the skill is always with us
just keep this in mind, nobody, not even 10 years from now will be able to accidentally generate a Masterpiece Movie/Game just from pressing a button.

first off, that's ai generated text you are arguing with.
second this video mentioned how the annual photography award from Sony was given to AI so you don't have to wait 10 years
third, look at movies. practical effects are far and away better looking than CG. masters of their craft tend to bring a personal level of talent that isn't replicated. so while Bob B. Basic may accept a logo for his used car lot made by Joe Blow on an ai tool, discerning customers will value having a human to interpret feelings that come from the nuance of people interacting. it's not like AI can explain why they think the art that is requested is not the best choice because it's beginning to be cliché or in poor taste.
fourth, you can use AI to give you a frame that you can make your own. cut through the time it takes to make a rough outline concept, and then manipulate it as your own.
finally, there are some people who are thankful for a tool to make their own ideas become something that they previously would have gotten wildly frustrated about. trying and failing to produce what they imagine affects your mood for longer than when you are at the canvas. not to mention the amount of times I've smashed a canvas or put a hole through it, i imagine it's far more expensive with a tablet or computer.

With the speed that OpenAI is moving to update Dall-E 2 you can continue to count on it remaining largely irrelevant for the time being.
It's sad because the current Dall-E 2 Experimental model is quite good. It can even do text fairly well. If and when they ever release Dall-E 2 Experimental version, or whatever they name it it should be one of the best models out there. Maybe it shall be called Dall-E 2.5? By then
It should have perfected text even.
The elephant in the room are the Open Source models which are catching up rather quickly to Midjourney, Dall-E 2 Experimental version and the rest. I fully expect the Open Source models to come out on top. They will be uncensored and free to use!
Why would anyone pay OpenAI 13¢ for 4 images while having to jump through their Censorship hoops for when they can do it for free? Or at worst a fraction of a penny?
Keep dragging your heels OpenAI while you get left behind. I'm all for it too.

They say that these AI models are a black box, very opaque. It's very hard to impossible to figure out how ChatGPT came up with the answer that it did. Or which images and their components how they all contributed to the end result.
Imagine the model may of drew upon 1,000 different images to get the tree just right, 100 for the blades of grass, 500 for the sky and clouds. 3,000 images to have great lighting. 10,000 images for the particular composition it chose to use etc.
All that would be extremely difficult to track. Then to cite all of that data as part of a returned image. All that Metadata would consume as much or more data than the image produced I bet.
Let's roundup my estimated number of images that contributed to the final result to 15,000 different images. Now how do you fairly split 3.5 ¢ up 15,000 different ways? How do you weigh which images contributed more, or less, to the final result?
