Just fascinating how the styles of 1930s trains were so similar in Chicago, Sydney, Melbourne … all look like "red rattlers"
This train with the hoot air whistle is from 1923.
The 4000s are synonymous with the Evanston Express to me.
Wonder when the last time those trolley polls were used
1974, before the Evanston line was converted to third rail. Once that was done, the last of the 4000s were retired.
Awesome video . Sucks they never preserved the 2200s for trips like this.
Some are preserved and could return if CTA gets them back
