Chef I love your show so much it’s always something new and within line of all your viewers interests. My first composite bat was the Juggy. Life changer, I dropped fast pitch and stayed in USSSA/ASA ever since.
Much appreciated. Man I remember those juggys. Took me a minute to get used to it because my swing was too awful for the flex lol. But they were fire!!!
My favorite was the Psycho. So good. The Jeff Hall was right behind that, The Worth Booger(Mayhem) was right behind that. I remember the first good bat I ever swung was the Ultra 1. Thing is stupid. If you ever get a chance to hit one/find one.. Buy it and do a review. It's hands down better than all the other senior bats combined.
To be honest, the 1pc kp23 maxload reminds me of all the miken 1pc bats i swung from 2010-2014ish before they went to 2pc bats.. Danny Crine psycho supermax/DC41, SE psycho, freak plus, revex maxload, izzy psycho supermax, ASP mafia, and mv1 supermax/mv3 balanced.. I'm sure I'm missing some, but Idk.. thanks for the video of the comparison..
When I played against scobey I played for off regularly/ miken from Orlando. Miken made a flex balanced psycho bat. And stiff endload psycho. They put heavy endloads in the flex bats (2.5 oz end) for me. it was like hitting a ball with a golf driver
Love these videos chef… please do some more with OG bats bought a 28oz freak plus and a 30oz red combat anaconda and it’s unbelievable how good those are when your hand been swinging only new 240 bats
You know you're old when you played before the Composite bats even came out. Before they had double wall bats. Before aircraft aluminum bats came out. Back when everyone swung 30oz bats. Composite bats change softball!
When the grey ultra came out nobody knew composite bats just kept getting hotter, 3 months later and even small dudes hitting straight bombs. Banned after that
Then came the Ultra 2. They found out exactly where they tested bats on the barrel and made only that part of the barrel to pass the test. Rest of the sweet spot exceeded the limits.
We primarily play asa here and I have an Easton Synergy from I believe 2004. The grey barrel, miss swinging that bat. If you do a vid w asa old schoolers I hope you use 1 of those.
yea you gotta get ahold of a freak plus or ultra or ultra 2 an those old combats were crazy get like 10 og bats an do a review with those.. the good ole days
@Bigchefsoftball absolute cheatcode!! I started playing right when the old tech was starting to get banned, blue synergy for asa wasn't on the banned list just yet back when you had to take 500 swings to break in a bat
I remember my whole life growing up going to the ball field and watching him play. Swinging pst’s, freaks, all the juggy’s, synergies, and his favorite the demarini Juice
I still have my Original yellow Louisville Slugger Catalyst. It has three sawtooth seams on it but still hot as a $2 pistol. I would send it to you guys to swing but I’m afraid it would come back in two pieces. 😂
I'll be honest I don't think the early 2000s composites were the hottest. I think a lot of the ones that came out in the years before the move to 240 were hotter but not as durable. I saw people hitting HRs that couldn't sniff the fence with the older bats.
@Bigchefsoftball Yeah I think bats made in the 2010s are made similarly to the way 240s are but just to a different standard. They break in quickly and didn't last like the early 2000s bats. I had teammates with the Combat Avarice thar we're hitting HRs and they had no business hitting HRs. Same with my 2 piece Miken Psychos in the late 2010s. They outperformed all the 1000-2000 hit Mikens I had in the early 2000s. The other issue with the early 2000s composites is many times they were so durable the barrel would lose performance over time without breaking. It was hard to tell because radar wasn't common nor were compression testers.
Kids nowadays don't know what it was like hitting a 47/525 with a 5000 swing Synergy+ or Freak+
Like having an erection that last more than 4 hours
@@Bigchefsoftballhahaha way more than 4 hours. A broken in freak OG was the hottest bat I ever swung. Senior bats included.
The biggest nukes off Handel end cap didn't matter that 5000 mark nukesss
The green synergy cnt+ was the hottest bat I’ve swung by a mile. Missed hits were still bombs😂

Back to memory lane.. Aah those were the days. Loved the video comparison. Awesome job guys.

This is a video I haven’t seen one person do yet and a great comparison

Definitely. More to come
When I played against scobey I played for off regularly/ miken from Orlando. Miken made a flex balanced psycho bat. And stiff endload psycho. They put heavy endloads in the flex bats (2.5 oz end) for me. it was like hitting a ball with a golf driver
Geez

Will do!!!
Old skool.... Thanks Chef & Company!
Anytime my guy!!
My favorite bat of all time is still the orange Miken Recoil!! And they were tanks that lasted forever.
I love love that bat. It was one of my faves. Behind the psycho and the OG superfreak
You know you're old when you played before the Composite bats even came out. Before they had double wall bats. Before aircraft aluminum bats came out. Back when everyone swung 30oz bats. Composite bats change softball!
Wow. Agreed. Yes they did. Now everyone can hit a homerun
That model Psycho was "rumored" to have the Ultra 2 inner sleeves.
First I heard of that. However I can see why. And thinking back on the ones I owned damn near out hit every other bat
When the grey ultra came out nobody knew composite bats just kept getting hotter, 3 months later and even small dudes hitting straight bombs. Banned after that
Changed the game forever
Then came the Ultra 2. They found out exactly where they tested bats on the barrel and made only that part of the barrel to pass the test. Rest of the sweet spot exceeded the limits.
@@joerapo and they put a 3oz metal rod in the handle and removed the endload
@@davidliskey3553 True they made it incredibly balanced because that also tricked the test they had then.

I have something similar
The Booger was KING!
Definitely
That red mayhem and the OG FF AE are the two hottest bats I've swung in the last 20 years
Them things are stupid
Need some more content of the o.g. bats vs today's, that psycho supermax in a 28 was just something but than the red mayhem wasnt far behind either...
I will hunt down some oldies from different brands and compare
yea you gotta get ahold of a freak plus or ultra or ultra 2 an those old combats were crazy get like 10 og bats an do a review with those.. the good ole days
I remember swing the combat Da Bomb! WOW. CHEATCODE! And we were hitting 525’s blue dots
@Bigchefsoftball absolute cheatcode!! I started playing right when the old tech was starting to get banned, blue synergy for asa wasn't on the banned list just yet back when you had to take 500 swings to break in a bat
Hell yeah. Love the old bats!!
Fo sho
My father has got an original freak and juggy. Honestly they’re super good bats
I remember my whole life growing up going to the ball field and watching him play. Swinging pst’s, freaks, all the juggy’s, synergies, and his favorite the demarini Juice
Those are all gems. That juice was unique and overlooked.
@ I agree. They’re all shelf ornaments now. But every now and again we BP them or use them in derbies
Where are the exit velocities to compare? Great retrospective
I’ll do it next video. Left radar at home
@ any excuse to get out to ball field is a good one 😉
Wonder how many swings it would take you guys to dent one of the better aluminum bats used back in the day
Too many. Plus we’d need harder balls
I still have my Original yellow Louisville Slugger Catalyst. It has three sawtooth seams on it but still hot as a $2 pistol. I would send it to you guys to swing but I’m afraid it would come back in two pieces. 😂
We’d blow that up. But I’ll get one to compare to today’s products
@@brianreece6978 I have a New in the Wrapper 29oz Catalyst the same one you're talking about.
The best bat back in the day in my opinion. Hot and durable.
@@Bigchefsoftballlooking forward to it. Wish we didn’t use these mush balls in league , 52/300 sponges.
would love to see the OG Ultra II vs OG DaBomb
I’d need a MLB park for those bombs lol
Nice nice good work keep it cooking 👨🏿🍳 💯

That og pyscho😍
🔥🔥🔥
What did the old school bats test at?
230 on both
i miss my JH. what balls were you using?
44/375 and 400’s nsa
I have the actual original Psycho. Old orangish color
The Denny crine?
The sound those bats made will always be nostalgic to me
Very refreshing
The Psycho got stooopid
I had 3 of them. Then I picked up a MV1 and ish got real

The red Connell is a great example! Maybe I’ll do a battle of the decades

OG Psychos needed 1 oz off and then they were stuuuupid
Lol
The reissue Jeff hall mayhem was terrible compared to the original
I think that was the 2007 version. Wasn’t the best at all.
