I was looking at the 35L for a long time before I got my current PC, but I’m glad to know it wouldn’t have been a bad choice to go. Only thing I would’ve loved for this case is a little more room for upgradability. Otherwise dope looking PC
Worryingly, no VRM covers on the motherboard. I suppose it’ll be okay for an 8700G, but it’s also just not an ideal CPU to use with a GPU considering how the L3 cache is neutered and generally worse value; should’ve just used a 7700 or something and made it better for both the SI and the consumer.
For anyone watching this who might get one, a small but important point: they opened the box wrong, which is why they had trouble getting the PC out. It was a more "enterprise" box where the bottom of the box had plastic slider locks (clearly marked) here you would unlock the two locks on each side and slide the top off. So you don't have to worry about pulling out the computer by the plastic bag in a risky way.
Please remember, when buying hp prebuilt, they will not be able to accept any cpu on that socket they use a proprietary mobo, so their bios wont accept every cpu that is on that socket due to their bios settings thanks keep this in mind before buying
They also have it where that CPU will most likely be tied to that motherboard only if you want to try to sell the CPU in the system. I learned the hard way buying a 2nd hand Alienware, trying to sell the CPU it came with. After doing research, my CPU was tied to the motherboard I had in my Alienware and wouldn't work. I also read HP does the same.
Yeah mostly propriety connections on the motherboard, lots of bloatware, typically can’t even use the AIO on other motherboards. I bought one during covid just to take the RAM, CPU & GPU to use in a build. Sold the remaining rig
3600 MT/s is incredibly slow for DDR5. When paired with the 8700G which only has 16MB of L3 cache (smaller cache = more frequent memory access -> more demand for bandwidth and low latency) means the 4080 Super would be held back significantly at any resolution lower than 4K. For that price it is extremely poor value even in the world of prebuilds. A build with a 7700 and 2 sticks of DDR5-6000 or above would make WAY more sense
Got my PC from microcenter and it was actually cheaper than building it myself. 14700KF, 4070ti super, 1 TB ssd but microcenter let me buy another 1 TB and they installed it for free before I even picked it up. Total was $1600.

At 7:07, you can clearly see the ram running at 3600MT/s, that is a significant bottleneck especially for Ryzen who loves fast memory. Dell should be more careful when specing 64gb/ populating all dimm slots, especially on such an expensive system
My only real issues with this pre-built has to do with the fact you can't configure this on the website, and that they don't have anything other than 8500G or 8700G. It's surprising they don't have the 7600 and 7700 as options, with the 9000 series available as well. HP isn't worth considering without them.
The comment about the difference in fidelity between 1440p and 4k is mostly for desktop sized monitors. Where 4k shines is on big screen gaming and modern tv support all the same standards as gaming panels with vrr and high refresh and low latency. I have a hisense 55" u8k which has amd freesync premium pro a 144hz refresh and super low latency. Takes more space to set up properly as you want it about 5ish feet away on a vesa pedestal to get the perfect height but if you have the space then you will never go back to a small panel.
Bro why is the ram at 3600mts? That's slow for ddr5. It'll cause a memory bottleneck for sure. I'm assuming you can fix that in bios. And you got to remember about these systems is I'm pretty sure the board is bios locked to specific CPUs.
I Bought my girlfriend the entry level HP omen 35L for $870 bucks. She only does light gaming at 1080 so the ryzen 8500g and 4060 work fine for her purposes even with the X4 pci express limitation of the 8500g. HP only bought the HyperX peripheral brand, which is one reason why I quit buying them. I mean look at how HP cheaped out on the CPU, I just have a feeling they’re going to cheap out on components in the peripherals too. Kingston kept their HyperX storage business. If I weren’t so enamored with Glorious keyboards and mice I would buy a new keyboard just to check it out. I’m really liking building keyboards now and checking out different switches and choosing the keycaps that want. I love the 2 HyperX keyboards I have and they have been amazing so far.
Not a good deal, many poor decisions (cpu, gpu airflow looks strangulated, price). It sort of seems like HP feels they can charge a large premium in exchange for NOT using their usual proprietary parts.

Day 9 of asking for a 7800xt
Hmmm interesting shirt choice, I'm not real
really hurts that the pc has a 4080 super paired with an 8700G...for about the same price as the 8700G HP could've opted for a faster 7700X, or a faster 7600X3D for just a little more
At microcenter (with the bundle) the 7600x3d was like $180 for me
I have one of the 25ls n its trash. Ended up tearing it apart for parts until everything came in for the 1 i built myself thats 100x better.
Was also back when things were overpriced n bestbuy ripped me off. Worst 1400$ ever spent since i built ons for 2k like a yr or 2 ago n has 7800x3d n xfx 7900xtx with 32gb 6000 ram, edge wifi board, msi 1000w psu ect. All highend parts if only i could go back n stop myself from buying 25l since i didnt know i was being sold old almost out of date parts/pc at the time. I7 10700 with some knock off 1 fan 2060 super that looks nothing like regular 2060 supers but at least it had the 8gb vram still lol smh 🤦
oh cant forget the overheating due to terrible case design that had only 1 exhaust fan no intake n like 0 airflow gabs ect. Idk what they were smoking when they designed it back then and lastly the 2060super whined like crazy probably from the underpowered questionable random 500w psu that barley keept it runing since would trip my circuit breaker all the time. My newer one has never once ever tripped a breaker n its much much more powerful. Makes 0 sense why my old one did consistently especially on longer sessions. Still convinced its a bad psu
8700g and no video output on the motherboard..... It looks fine but it's shit value, at least here in the Netherlands. It's €2899 here, in parts it's €1986.
I'm going to get a better GPU and hold onto my i7 8700k for a while longer. 😂
21k on TS is really really bad! my 14900k 7900xtx gets 36k
Yea my 14700k with 6900xt does 22k
Nice except for the gross 8700G
Day 38, asking for a gaming pc 🧧🧧🧧
