If anyone is concerned about the metal dust these magnets will attract, Loctite Fun-Tak poster putty is incredible for cleaning metal dust off magnets and it can be used for a while before needing to be thrown away. I use it multiple times a week for this.
Electrical tape works also.

Love this knife. The action sound is soo satisfying. Really cool how he implemented the little slot for tritium. Broke my first tritium trying to fit it in. It really is fragile like a fluorescent bulb.

Wonderful Review!!! Like so many of us, I comb all the Factor vids to satisfy the hunger pangs until mine arrives. This one was informative, balanced, and actually shows some CUTTING TASKS. Great to see some use out of it, and discussion on how it cuts and how it feels in hand. And I seriously can't get over that *ting*! You know that artificial sword-drawn-from-sheath "schwing?" Yeah, this is that, but on a knife. I, too, can't wait for some of the new ones on the table - specifically the Verge.
The reason to buy this knife is the acoustics first. Everything else second

The man himself says the magnets actually help keep shavings out of the pivot when working in the shop. I'd rather have shavings on the magnets than the pivot

No way you got it dude! 😲 I wanted to order, but unfortunately I gotta wait for the batch 3. This knife in my oppinion is so unique, innovative and satisfying.
I have owned a Factor Absolute TI M390 for a couple of years. It is a quality blade with what I believe is EXCELLENT heat treat and edge retention. Mine takes a magnificent mirror polish edge. Hopefully Factor has not dialed down their methods. Sharpening wet might mitigate the magnet metal retention? I like the innovation of this design and might need to have one.
I can't wait till I'm guessing Xmas time for batch 2 I wasn't fast enough love all the different stuff Bryan is coming up with!

i'm sorry this knife was fun to fidget with for 2 hours and the concept is fantastic but i couldn't deal with that stuff near my credit cards.. phone.. keys.. and yes there are metal stuck to the magnet upon disassembly even though never sharpened by me

Concerning your comments about replacing the flipper, pivot, or lock bar colors: those all seem to be modular, no? Pretty sure that's why they're designed the way they are. Similar to pretty much most things Hinderer has done for...ever?

Love the innovation, love the idea of a magnet knife, I like the design enough. I would be getting it if basically all the green parts would be gone. I don't like the "flipper" , pushing down in the middle is odd and it's clear that this can create a hot spot. A normal pivot screw would have not gotten the rust. Basically, same knife with full scales without the "flipper" opening and opening hole only for deployment and normal pivot screw would have been a win in my book. As it stands, I don't like it enough to spend $375 on it for the magnet innovation only. Definitely a nice platform to start with and I hope he brings other magnet knives designs (without all the green stuff) in the future.

Hey Jerad! Thanks for the review, can’t wait to get mine , You did a great job on the review 👏, You have to get yourself a single fillet clamp for your TSprof , The black clamps that come with it are for larger spine knives , they also have filet dual clamps and 2 kinds of single clamps for smaller knives, they have single filet and regular single the regular single is for a small knife with thick spine , and filet is for very thin knives , This is very important because it keeps the stones from contacting the clamps thus you will have no problem using the stone compensator

I would love to get this innovative knife but as I discovered with a touch magnet (switch, charger, third hand) it's not safe in my garage where I occasionally grind and cut metal for home projects. I keep it clean in there but one day in my pocket and the torch had to be replaced due to metal dust contamination.

Yeah, i had a friend who bought entire shelves of comics, put them in cellos, and kept them as a hedge against inflation. He didnt read them, he ddidnt look at them & he actually hated the idea of them. When the hard times came, he couldn't sell his junk books and he couldn't tell good from bad. Sad.

For everyone complaining, these were produced by bestech (to my knowledge) and Bryan tried his hardest to get them right. And the magnet thing. People..THEY ARE MAGNETS! lol you're not supposed to put ANY magnets near things like credit cards. Why would this be any different? It's an incredible knife for what it is and Bryan is just a STELLAR guy. Wait til you all see what he's got coming next!!
It looks awesome but I work in a machine shop. Always getting metal splinters. Always blowing chunks of steel around with air hoses. Always grinding/cutting metal. This wouldn’t work for me. The design is really nice though

@@NeevesKnives Brian also told me the Batch 2’s will have a carbon fiber sleeve holding the magnets in! The only glue will be holding in the g10 inserts on the pivot and lock button. Amazing!
Use electrical tape to clean and remove metal debris from mags with out disassembling the knife.

Just got mine and am struggling. When I press the tab, the blade comes out weakly and only half way.
I have to flick my wrist to get it to deploy all the way. I tried your method as well and still it doesn't fire out with that "ting" sound. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks Jerad.
Possibly, did you try going from the corner and build pressure before snapping it down don't just push it, finger on corner part build pressure then snap it down, if you push it in it needs to be rapidly after building a bit of tension as well, I prefer the first method. How's the detent feel on the reverse flick?
@@NeevesKnives I looked at the link they had on the card and got the action down better, although I find my ring finger pressing on the clip to the point where it became painful after flicking it open over and over.
The detent on the reverse flick is good, but slightly weak. I oiled the pivot, all screws are tight. I'm still not getting the "ting" sound though. It says to disassemble and reassemble if you're not getting the ting. Haven't done that yet.
Also says to tighten the pivot just to the point where there's no blade play but there's no play even with the pivot completely out. So I tightened it to where it just barely stops screwing. It says with more break-in, the ting should start to sound more. But my damn ring finger is so sore I can only reverse flick it now. I waited nine months to get this knife and right now, I'm underwhelmed. I'll give it some time before I decide to take it apart. I want that ting! Lol. Really appreciate you replying to me, you're a good dude.

Right now from what I saw on the winter blade Co site it was a batch of pre-orders only. Here's what the site says "P.S. Occasionally we may restock a Factor B2 preorder "spot" in which case you'll see it available for purchase at the bottom of the page"
This seems to be way more focused on making new things rather than maintaining a store of the same items next he's working on a magnet driven double action OTF. So if you want the knife you may want to keep tabs on that.

That's what I'm waiting to see. I just read in a comment that batch 2 gets replacement magnets. He also said he's going to sell the carbon fiber inserts that go over the flipper thing to make the knife more solid. But I don't know when he's going to make and sell those

@@aj2i18jx you’ve never owned a knife if that’s what you actually think. My carbon steel fixed blades need oiling regularly whenever I use them. My crossbar lock knives can get gunked up and need an occasional rub down. Bearings get crud in them all the time. It’s a higher maintenance knife then a liner or framelocking heavy duty bronze phosphor washer beater knife sure. Though it’s less maintenance than half my other folders too.
@@Muscovy7 lmao. I own an Ultratech and 940 for 8 years and I clean them maybe once a year in an ultrasonic cleaner. Shut up.
As much as ingenious, this design is also extremely impractical for an EDC knife.
@@aj2i18jx 940 runs on phosphor washers and is an excellent knife. It has a pretty weak detent though. Never owned an ultratech personally. I sincerely doubt you don’t have to oil or clean out your crossbar and springs on the 940. I’ve had to whenever I carried it during landscaping. No need to be so aggressive lmfao
