100 years from now gymnasts will be watching her for attention to detail toe point ..grace...focus...consistency. she has always been the ultimate gymnast. I miss those mounts tho. In my opinion beam skills more athletic than elegant but ive been watching since 1972 olga korbut days.

I loved her but I do wish she had upgraded her difficulty sooner. That was what allowed her teammate Gutsu, Zmeskal, and later Miller to all surpass her in 91-92. We see in her comeback in 95 and 96 she upgraded her difficulty bigtime on every event. If she had done this sooner in 91 and 92 I think she wins the All Around at both 91 worlds and 92 Olympics. I know some think she should have won 91 worlds anyway, but with upgraded difficulty they wouldn't have been able to deny her regardless.

A joke she got a lower score than Kerri even on BEAM. With Kerri having a step on the landing to boot. The Scam Cup is such an effing joke.

@Mara L Yes those are all valid points but Strug is a fugly mess on beam. Even a halfway decent performance from Bogi should always outscore Strug. Bogi's 9.737 was a fair score, while Strug's score was too high. Strug deserved a 9.65 at best.

It was a brief time that she trained with the Karolyi’s. She’s from Belarus. After the Soviet Union broke up, the smaller countries didn’t have the money for good training equipment or the good coaches. If she was from Russia, you’re right; she wouldn’t be allowed to train outside of Russia.
