Super gift! In October, I attended a presentation at the Japanese embassy here in Ottawa. The presenter is the founder of the Japanese paper place. She has received a medal from the Japanese Prime Minister to recognize her efforts ri preserve the traditions of making washi (paper) by hand. There are three plants used for different types of washi. One grows only in the wild, at high elevations. She is an integral member of the mountain communities working to preserve their habitat. So impressive.
