The Toguro Brothers were some the best villains in YuYuHakusho to me. Always loved the way Kurama took out the Elder and the final round of Yusuke vs. Younger was pretty badass.
Toguro choosing the worst punishment for himself was such a fascinating decision. At the very end, Koenma tried convincing Toguro that his virtues outweighed his sins, and Toguro says "no, I've had 50 years to think over this decision".

it was a bit disturbing to see elder Toguro spend the next arc protruding from that dudes neck. all you see is the jaw and the bottom row of teeth, I love it.
I always inferred than toguro powers were made experimenting with Kairen body. Altough its hard to determine, the manga never said anything about Kairen and IDK if togashi had input in that part of the anime. But the anime kind of implies The toguro brothers inherited kairen powers. Elder Inherited its tendril attacks and younger it's raw strenght, he even looks a lot like Kairen when fully evolved. In the manga the demon only looks like Transformed younger Toguro, while in the anime it also has Elder tendrils. Wich makes me think they used Kairen body to transform the brothers.
man Toguro brothers were just like this Duo of just badasses I mean the older brother he was like satanic and crazy and the younger brother he was just this big muscular badass that just like would kick ass and take names. Truly one of the best villains in any type of media possible he just has this presence the younger brother. God, I really wish we had more backstory for the older Toguro brother. Cause there's a clear contrast with the two, still. while the younger Toguro was no doubt really well developed, as this massive force who only wished to be strong, but still being this stoic, sympathetic and even honored in his own philosophy, the older one was just this full blown psychopath, with that monstrous disgusting ability, being way more insane and demonic in his personality. I wondered that it would be even cooler if he played a roll in bringing his younger brother to that dark path as well, since he could already be a disturbed individual from the start. And then in the end at the fight with Yusuke, the younger one got sick of hearing his brother's bullshit like a bug on his ear for all this time, then just finally snapped at him, wanting so many times to do so, but now having a legit reason. I think that is pretty plausible
While it could be argued to be "headcanon" this is also how I've seen their relationship, perched on Younger Toguro's shoulder like an evil influence, they fight as one and have stayed together but no longer see eye to eye. Honor runs thicker than blood, in the japanese version or the manga I believe, Elder Toguro even curses at Younger Toguro "we both sold our souls to become Demons and you dare hit me?" that really makes me think we didn't get the full picture of their relationship. Also when Elder Toguro says rude remarks about Genkai multiple times and it bothers Younger Toguro.
I dont think elder needs any development he always been a parasite in nature. He first latches to his Younger brother and later latches to Sensui he even acts like a parasite. In young toguro case he's more a friendly parasite, with a more symbiotic attitude, but when he's with sensui he takes over someone else body . He likes following strong people and take advantage to be as cruel and inhuman as he pleases.
If you look at the Toguro demon abilities, they seemed to have taken Kairin body and made it their own. At 100% Toguro basically looks like the demon that killed his students.

This was cool love to see more YYH content from your channel. Some suggestions I'd toss out maybe Yasha and Yakumo the antagonists from the 2 YYH movies? they are fairly interesting demons from a power set perspective anyway and don't get talked about much. A video on the Saint Beasts or Rando would also be cool for Demon Manuals.
A little off-topic but it’s funny how in the Philippines dub of YYH, the dub team confused Kurama for a girl and therefore gave him a female VA in his first few appearances. Not only that, his name was “Denise” in those appearnces. (It also didn’t help that he was after a fancy mirror 😂). When he finally allied with Yusuke, he reintroduces himself as “Dennis” and finally had a male VA. If that sounded like a perfect Togashi tragedy of gender confusion, then there’s Genkai who, for the entirety of the series was mistaken for an old dude and was named “Master Jeremiah” the entire series. She had an old male voice the entire show. I was young when I saw the series in Filipino dub but now that I think about it, I never questioned Toguro and Genkai’s relationship back then. I never even wondered why “Master Jeremiah” turned into a young girl a couple times during the tournament. I think since Filipino language is not gender specific, the dub got away with it.
They have wrong translation i guess? I also watched it and shocked about their true names, unlike in the Philippine dub they change fhe characters names. It was first aired on IBC13.
Who would want that trash Filipino dub YYH? Their translated dialogue were barely accurate, broken words just to match the length of most scenes, and the nonsense name changes.
The elder brother is my favorite. He kind of never dies. But being never dies also means having danger in the case of Kurama use a neverending curse of torment and suffering placed on him which will torture him forever for ever of his life.

I already have an idea on the "Return of Toguro". Instead of perishing for eternity, Toguro acquired a new level of power that sends him above the S Class. He still has the strength-based ability but instead of growing muscle outwards, his body density increases up to a point where the density becomes infinite (like a blackhole). His transformation is the change in colour and texture, and at his final for, he is in complete blackness. His attack include creating mini-blackholes at will and anywhere that would suck anything in its vicinity. Toguro decides to pay his brother a visit and frees him up from misery by crushing the sinning tree into a blackhole. Toguro also has the ability to create alternate realities where he challenged Sensui, the Kings of Makkai and Raizen. All of them beaten, Toguro decides to destroy the entire universe with a Big Crunch...
I wish the manga went into more details about the ranks and how powerful they are. It got introduced late in the story and they just kinda dropped toguro was a upper b class demon which almost made him seem weak. But when you compare him to the demons introduced later he is, but i always wondered if when he goes to 100% the lower class demons start dying just from being around him but that didn't happen later in the series with much stronger characters.
They used kirians body to turn the brothers into demons (theory) that's why they had his demon powers. Also toguro didn't get stronger he just never aged.
