I love the tempo used for this rondo. The last repetition of Perderete la beltà is superb and conveys a lot of emotion in this farewell aria. Great singing and great acting!!! This Brussels production is a must for Alcina, acting, costumes, lights, this is top class opera.
I have noticed Maite's performance since 2008. Maite has the most efficient singing technique among all singers. In addition, how she shapes the vowels and maximizes her resonance is just like a textbook! Bravo!

On rehearing I make a correction. This Ruggiero IS flawless and more movingly emotional that almost everybody Ive heard in this piece. Too bad the excellent orchestral contribution was slightly marred by the overly decorated lute continuo in the final ritornello.
Very well sung but a tad too slow. The feeling & expression are admirable, but the slower than normal tempo makes the piece more of a heavy lament than a bittersweet remembrance tinged with regret.

Su voz no se escucha en ciertas partes, no puede abordar la obra, parece facil pero no lo es, requiere una mezzo real.
