The area where the landslide is cleaning up is Bowden in St Thomas. This is where the best wharf in Jamaica is and also the road to the JDF Coast Guards and JCF Marine Police base is. Some persons just commenting and dont really know the area. Please do not bash persons living in an area unless you understand their situations. Love, Peace and unity to all.

The fact of the matter is they are actually not doing their job instead of being proactively maintaing the drains and gullies to alleviate some of this flooding they are parading around like they have accomplished something extraordinarily and naive people singing their praise for being reactive. What does she mean its her govt. and she has access? All MP's and Ministers of Govt were elected to serve all Jamaicans. Your call to the Minister is on behalf of the people of East St. Thomas. You are their representative. This debacle should not be made into a political circus. It doesnt matter if it was an opposition MP, they all should have the same access to all Government Ministers. Thanks for confirming that if an opposition MP had called the Minister, the response would have been null, hence the people suffer. I thought we had passed this hurdle of politics. The electorate placed you there as a representative for the people. Its a responsibility you have taken up. Govt involves both parties. I am sick of these "dunce" politicians.

You're forgetting one thing? When PWD were around the population was smaller and less vehicles were on the road. PWD name changed to National Work Agency? The difference between the two, PWD was funded by the British government and all the roads were built and maintained by PWD? On the other hand the National Works Agency is a public private organization. The NWA gave out the contract to private contractors.

I guess we can say the same about NEW YORK and FLORIDA as they have experienced flooding and deaths and they are first world with ALL the maintenance that money can buy. Just know that absolutely nothing can be done about natural disasters; they happen and we thank God for his saving grace if there are no deaths. I am trying to understand how it is that we as a people can be so negative and critical even when God has spared our lives, and given the country and it's people a second chance. It is high time we use God's gift to us and think logically instead of emotionally and from a political perspective. I did not hear a single blame of the government in America when their disasters happen and many died and many homes were destroyed. And of course, they have better infrastructure than Jamaica.

Why have the various government agencies and engineers not been able to construct proper drainage systems?
For instance, St John's Road in Johnson Pen, St Catherine, slopes away from the drainage ditch so naturally the water gathers up on the road. Does it need a nuclear physicist to understand that raising the lower side so the road slopes TOWARDS the ditch will drain off the water??
The PM is so right! Government is NOT doing much!!!

Klarity if you are out doing reporting why can't uou show what thevprople are talking about? You barely show the hill where the slide came from. We the audience are not there so we depend on you to interview and show so we see what you see and know. Do better camera work man.

      Exactly!
WITH GLOBAL WARMING NO GOVERNMENT AROUND THE WORLD IS PREPARED FOR WHAT'S HAPPENING!
RECENTLY, NEW YORK AND OTHER MAJOR CITIES IN THE USA WERE FLOODED!
BARBADOS AND TRINIDAD JUST GOT FLOODED OUT.
THIS SYSTEM IS CURRENTLY FLOODING PARTS OF CUBA AND HISPANOLA (HAITI & DR).
GÑI want politicsl tribalists to give another alternative to the problem. REMEMBER, WHATEVER ALTERNATIVE THEY GIVE MUST BE FUNDED! WILL THEY BORROW MONEY TO DO IT OR INCREASE TAXES? THEY MUST GIVE FUNDING DETAILS FOR YOUR PLAN!
Regardless of how some members of the current government behave (which I personally detest), I see more progress than in 18plus years of straight reign and another four in-between by the PNP!

      Greetings.
Respectfully No! Citizens pay various taxes G.C.T, P.A.Y.E/Pay As You Earn, property taxes etc. to the government for basic services to include decent roads, schools, hospital, public transportation etc. If citizens take it up on themselves to provide these services or perform the duties of the elected official then Jamaicans should STOP paying taxes. I find it highly frustrating when citizens give the govetnment a pass and willingly excuse them for NOT doing their job which they are HANDSOMELY paid (they recently gave themselves/opposition 200% salary increase) to do!!! Jamaicans must DEMAND FULL REPRESENTATION FROM THEIR POLITICAL REPRESENTATIVES!!!

@@user-ie2pr9sw3t Have you seen the Budget? What's collected as taxes is never enough!
Remember Education if Free! Healthcare is Free!
Thst said, the Doctors, Nurses, and Teachers must be paid!
      QUESTION:
WHERE WILL THE ADDITIONAL GUNDS COME FROM?
TOAD IS JUST ONE AREA OF EXPENDITURE!
ARE YOU WILLING TO PAY MOR TOLL OR PAY FOR EDUCATING THE CHILDREN OR PAY FOR EVRRY HOSPITAL SERVICES?
