When it comes to gis it's the thought that counts. I love getting homemade gifts or something small cheap but personal or an inside joke.
I wouldn't turn down anything designer but spending a lot is never the point for when it comes to giving or receiving gifts.

I feel that genuine friends prefer a more thoughtful gift rather than an expensive one. It’s the thought that counts always. If they expect more from you they’re not there for the right reasons. As far as your guilt, continue donating and acknowledge your act of kindness 🎄✨❤️

Maybe instead of giving "better" and "better" presents, stay at the same level. For example you buy a handbag for a present, then the next year something at the same price range as the handbag from the past year, but different 🌸
The whole point of giving a gift is about the thought that goes into it. The person your giving the gift to should love the thought and the effort, not the price tag. True friends love you for you and not for what you have. 😊
