We have th Galloping Ghost Arcade right down the block. They have retro arcade games and pinball also. My daughter and her brother went there for her birthday a couple years ago and ended up playing tetris almost the entire time lol

I’m assuming these work the same as the ones that are popular in Toronto, stay at the same machine for 3-4 tries and you’ll win (aka just make sure you spend your money). For a Japanese arcade, I don’t see Dance Dance Revolution, which bums my old millennial heart out.
Yeah I think most of the cranes are designed in a way that you have to make a few attempts to move the prize slowly. So even if you know what you are doing, you can't really get it in a single attempt. But I've seen people try a few times and leave and another person takes over and wins the prize easily. DDR and PUMP seem to be out of trend in Japan, but I've seen them for sure.

I miss arcades. In the states, you really only have two options (that I know of): Dave & Busters, which is basically packed with screaming kids and even the "good" locations have broken games and insane prices. The other option is a hipster retro arcade bar like 1Up which is ok, but the atmosphere is not very playful or nostalgic. This looks awesome, though. I gotta get my ass to Japan one day, if only for sushi and arcades!
You should check out round1 if you have one that's close enough
