    the fact y'all be telling black people we shouldn't be offended by things like this. yall need to sit down. literally it's disrespectful and it's wrong, it doesn't mean she should like get cancelled or something. the fact that year pass by and this is still a thing it's bc she was never held accountable. what she did wouldn't make her a bad person, but your response to it made everything worst.
    btw, if you're black and don't feel offended by this, good for you! but don't try to shame ppl who do.

    • @kittykattt18
      @kittykattt18 8 лет назад +6

      Well, some people always need to make a big deal out of smth to give them stuff to complain about. Honestly, it feels like the black culture appropriation theme is getting old, most of them getting wayyyy too butthurt over braids and sassy gestures. She presented a stereotype, one that most black people would recognise if they were asked to imitate others, she wasn't trying to be racist. The same stereotype seen all over entertainment. If black people do it, it's alright, if whites/asian attempt it, it's full on war. Don't have any issues with a black person trying to imitate me, but God help me if I tried it to imitate them back. #sensitivemuch?

      just because this type of stuff happens alot in comedy shows doesnt make it ok. Only this year there have been like two incidents where idols do blackface in variety shows so now blackface is acceptable???? dont believe anything or think its acceptable just because its on tv

  • @Taytortot365

    Yes, people in Korea are ignorant to the offensive nature of stereotypes. However, it's not acceptable. Kpop fans cannot continue to allow their idols or their biases to appropriate black culture, find humor in stereotypes, and use black face, just to name a few recurring incidents. Although her intentions were not spiteful, it still is hurtful to those who are black. No, I will not hate her, I'm sure she's a wonderful person, she just made a mistake, but, we cannot excuse this behavior. Instead of saying, "Oh, they're ignorant" or "Oh, they don't understand", why don't we speak out and let them know what they're doing is unacceptable. There is no need for being overly defensive on either side, but we all need to agree that we cannot let this go on anymore.

    • @ZhoniaP
      @ZhoniaP 8 лет назад +18

      100%!! I think most of the people that commented on this didn't see the whole show. At one point she said she especially knows how to imitate black men because they're like gangsters.... If that isn't offensive I don't know what is. To put millions of people in a box based on what's shown in the media while exposing yourself to the media doing the same is more harmful than anything. We're it to be the other way around someone imitating Asians a certain way saying they're all like that it would've been hell in korean media. Especially with such massive foreign fan bases it's time for people to start getting it right rather than defend the ignorance.

    This isn't even racist. She's just doing an impersonation of a stereotype. She's not trying to discriminate against a race, which, by the way, is the definition of racism. She's not implying that she's superior to black people. Someone should just advise her not to make jokes like that. I still stan Wendy.

  • @camieli4363
    @camieli4363 8 лет назад +8

    I liked it. I'm black and unfortunately most other black people I know, even in my own family, act like this. And if you are black, in our culture, if you don't act all annoying and aggressive like this, if you are soft spoken and polite and overly nice, they will tease you and ask why you acting so white and that you must really hate yourself (desire to be white). So to avoid this type of reaction from them, I end up adapting and acting and speaking aggressively/loudly. Blacks speak very loudly and have dramatic, way over-the-top facial expressions and gestures. If you are black and you don't (act/speak this way), they will say you are weak/submissive (especially if male). So, ...basically the exact opposite cultural norms as "most" East Asians' cultural norms. No wonder each group has such stereotyped reactions of the other. And don't think blacks are innocent, either. They are usually the first to stereotype/disparage others, I notice that they will just usually do it only around close friends (aka while Asians and whites and Hispanics are NOT around). But I think everyone does that. It's just shocking (not to me but I guess for others) to hear someone come out and do it so publicly. But whatever, I like this real side of KPop. If black people didn't generally act this way, they wouldn't be stereotyped this way. Makes it hard for us who don't, but doesn't make it any less valid/true for most. JMHO.

    • @camieli4363
      @camieli4363 8 лет назад +4

      And I also love how black people are always pointing the finger at surface things they call racist when that is like their specialty? What about the movie white chicks? Did we not laugh through that shit? Where is the line drawn? Are we the only ones excluded from beg racist? I get that seeing this can be somewhat frustrating initially, but then I come to my senses and realize that it's a fucking joke. I've heard/seen much worse than this right here in America with comedians on the stage. And they tell the most truth out of anyone.

      I never said you didnt have the right to be offended number 1. i just said i dont see the big deal. Number 2. When did she call black men "gangsters" i dont keep up with red velvet ive only seen this clip. I dont really care. Number 3 i do love myself thank you VERY fucking much :) which is why im not insecure about what some random asian girl says. You let this effect you for what?? maybe you need to learn to love yourself and stop getting offended by someone who's only doing something for comedy. black people are portrayed to be like this in movies and tv shows and if that's all she had to go why even blame her? It's supposed to be funny. get over yourself. I bet if this was a white girl impression you wouldn't give 2 shits. Pro-blacks honestly get on my nerves.. you guys always play the victim card instead of changing things. black people DO act like this. Have you not been to the hood? Do you know how many black girls say " i know youre not fucking talking to me?" or "Who the fuck you talking to?" Exactly. If you dont like how things are change it :)

    1. Yes, it's a bit disappointing for Wendy doing 'dangerous' act like this, without considering how fans will react. I'm not hating, just a bit disappointed.
    2. IMHO, she's not being what y'all called 'racist'. There's a fundamental thing that differentiate between being racist and stereotyping: the intention to discriminate. As we can see, she's impersonating how certain culture / people talk. She's not ridiculing / discriminating the certain culture / people mentioned.
    3. Y'all have to differentiate between being racist and stereotyping (read books, google things, learn some shit). If i say "All chinese eat rice and using chopsticks", am i being racist? If i say "english" with japanese pronunciation, "enggurishu", am i being racist? If i say "geez all of korean idols doin that annoying aegyo thingy", am i being racist? Nope, i'm stereotyping them and i have pure zero intention to degrade / discriminate them.
    4. Y'all need to stop overreacting. Even you guys must ever doin something like Wendy did at least once (imitating and stereotyping, that often misjudged as being racist). Stop the hate.
    5. I know that things like this is very sensitive. Koreans really need to learn more about other culture so they can avoid something like this happened again in the future.

      So if I started speaking the ENGRISH language the way Asian people do with an accent then that won't be considered racist? Or how about when a Tmz reporter did that when repeating how a exid member responded when landing in california and their company accused tmz of being racist and even trying to file a lawsuit. So its racist when it's done to them, but when they do it to others then all these excuses come out?
