    This is just a little review of my new Hirsch James watch strap. I'd say it's the best strap I've ever owned, and highly recommend it. Something I forgot to mention in the video is that the stitching cannot be seen on the bottom side, which apparently means it's made by machines/robots. Somewhere along the line, I've learned that if you can see the stitching on the underside of the strap, then it's made by a human, but if you cannot see the stitches on the underside, then it's been made by a robot.
    Something else I forgot to mention in the video is that the little bricks of rubber help to grab my wrist and the strap/watch stay in place on my wrist. With other straps, the heavy watch head sometimes forces the watch to move on my wrist, but this rubberized backing helps to grab my skin and keep the watch in place. Amazing!

    I started wearing the Hirsch straps with the rubber back a couple of years ago while I was working in Vienna. Since these straps are Austrian, I was able to purchase several at exceptional prices. I totally agree with you on the comfort.

      I'm visiting Vienna where can I buy them and for how much?

    Update: I bought this strap in January 2017, and it's now September 2017 and the keeper near the buckle that holds the long strap in place just came off! I only use the one keeper as I usually kept the strap on the 2nd largest setting, so the 2nd keeper just sits in my watch box. The main keeper, which is usually sewn into the strap or scrunched between 2 layers of the strap just came off! It's glued on. I didn't take this strap in the water whatsoever, but it has been an extremely rainy/humid season this summer. Nevertheless, I was shocked and dismayed at it's coming off. However, I'm Crazy Gluing it back on right now, so that should hold, I hope. I just put a small bead of glue and placed the strap under a dining room chair. If it comes off again, I'll just get a deployant for the strap, but I prefer tang buckles to deployants, so it's not my preferred route. Anyway, I was going to try another Performance strap by Hirsch, but this has me rethinking next steps.

      i have the same situation here... so what other brand do you recommend? or other Hirsch model

      I should've made a video, as it was so easy to do. I just used crazy glue 5 minute glue (in the tiny, individual tubes), and the holder has held great now for a month. I would just buy a deployant that would eliminate the need for any keeper. I'm pretty sold on the Performance line, so I'm trying to keep mine going for a while - all the other Hirsch, I've found the core starts to stink. I would go with Di-Modell Aero lining if not these Hirsch straps.

      so you dont suggest to buy hirsch or that specific model ? i actually really like the brown color and how it gets better with time

      Since I glued it, I've worn it every day and it's fine. I just put a small bead of Krazy Glue, held the keeper down for 30 seconds, let the strap sit for a day for the glue to fully cure, and it's been used for basically 4 months now problem free. I've heard mixed reviews on Hirsch. What I can say is that on most Hirsch strap models the inner core starts to stink, regardless if they say 100m water resistant or not. But this one, the James Performance is my favorite of all time - of any strap. I think it'd be a good strap for anyone or any watch. Good luck!

      I just got the Pure with those quick-release bars, and the first thing I did was remove them lol.

      @@heyitsjosh 😜 I use too not like them but I bought some silicone elite Barton straps for my19mm watch and in time I got like them. But of cource on a Heuer or Rolex. Maybe you are right its old school felling.

    • @heyitsjosh

      @@ReJoys777 It's not that: my watch lug is 21mm and the inserts/strap are 22mm, so I had to take them out to get the rubber to fit between the lugs. I struggled for maybe 15 minutes to get the 22mm in, but they wouldn't go, so I slipped the quick-release tubes out quite quickly and easily, surprisingly, and used my old springbars.

      BTW: I find the 2020 Pure rubber much more comfortable than the older version.

    Is this strap still good? Just ordered one. It’s got to be better than the strap I ordered fro the US which was awful and broke within 3 weeks.

    • @heyitsjosh
      @heyitsjosh  4 года назад +1

      It's still good; I think I wrote an update that the looped keeper (to keep the strap down) broke, and I glued it back on (using Krazy glue), and it's worked for 2 years now.

      heyitsjosh thanks Josh! I hope for a good usage out of it. I have a sports Garmin for general daily usage, the watch strap is for an automatic watch I own with a deployment strap, Hopefully I’ll have no problems.

    The lug size for this Tag heuer is 20mm not 22mm.

      @heyitsjosh  7 лет назад

      I own the watch, and multiple 20 and 22mm straps. I can say with 100% certainty that it's 22mm lug width. Also, I prefer a 22mm to 20mm as 20 looks too narrow. 22mm is the perfect lug width. Best,

      I've searched a couple places and it may be 21mm. Since I had a 21mm watch before this (Zenith Pilot), maybe my straps had shrunk to fit. I wouldn't shy away from a 21mm lug width as any 22mm will easily fit, as it's only 0.5mm per side of compensation. But if my TAG is 21mm, that'd explain why there's a bit of compression on the sides. With my Zenith, I never had a problem because the leather would just adjust/ply, whereas this rubber strap won't as well. I'd stay away from curved spring bars, such as in the older GP Sea Hawk models. Replacement straps for that is much harder! But I'll have to find a caliper just to confirm it's 21 and not 22. Best,

      Don't get me wrong sir. I have a lot of Tag Heuer watch and I love them all. I just ordered the same strap after I watched your review. I agree with you on the curved spring bar. They are just the pain to change or find the replacement strap. Thank you for the review.

      I sourced a digital caliper today, and the lug width is 21mm, which explains the tightness of the strap in the video. I assumed the LINK's lugs were 22mm all along, as that's what the dealer had mentioned at the time of purchase. Sorry about that!

      It's one of the best that I've owned for that reason. My leather straps often smell after a bit, but not this one. Good luck!

    why do they smell after a while?

    • @heyitsjosh
      @heyitsjosh  4 года назад +1

      Your sweat penetrates the porous material and grows goodness knows what. I only like straps nowadays with water-resistant cores, as I've found the sweat goes into the middle of the strap through the strap holes, but if it's a water-resistant core, as this strap is, then the smell is reduced and can be cleaned easily. Best,

    Jeez you need to get out and about a bit more.It's a watch strap!..If you're that anal about a watch strap I can't imagine what you'd be like with car ownership.(probably a Beemer or Audi).
