let me just say that the fact that marauder's wolf getting activated by enemy gunfire is utter bullshit
And its shield, if it wasn't because of all the fodder demons activating its defenses and the carcasses putting even more stuff between you and the marauder the fight would be easy af.
I am no expert in programming, but I think it’s because the dog gets activated when the shield gets shot, and the program can’t distinguish between our gun shots or the ones by the other enemies
@viz Simply any projectile detected by the shield would account to sending the dog, so it would spawn nonetheless

I almost died 10 times trying to kill the marauder, then I killed it and ran outta ammo in the plasma rifle and couldn’t kill the spirit the full way. I shit you not, it had less than a second left of beaming and it would’ve died. Then it possessed another marauder. I almost cried.

Ditto...... after the harrowing experience of finally killing the first possessed marauder, I fell off the upper path there while microwaving the spirit, then it possessed the second marauder...... somehow survived, but it was brutal.... It’s a bit masochistic to play this slayer gate more than once.... 😹😹😹
I did almost everything first try and then it posessed another marauder, then I was stuck for like 50 more attempts

This almost happend to me, killed the possessed marauder but ran out of ammo for the microwave beam
Almost lost my one singular braincell right up until i realized the spirit decided to possess a carcass instead, so i killed the second regular marauder and then went ALL IN on the possessed carcass before some other absolute bastard had the time to show up and ruin my day
All that. For a support rune
and for a milestone :p

@@bhopirl4552 ugh and they are gonna throw a buff totem possessed marauder at us in TAG2. This gate takes me about 15 minutes to get through i can't imagine how long its gonna take to deal with the craziness of a buff totem possessed marauder.

TAG PART 1:
Except that weak points are rendered completely unbreakable when a demon is possesed by a Spirit,plus the fact that possesed demons cannot be faltered,frozen or killed by the chainsaw.
Not even totem buffs are that broken,because you can still destroy weak points for totem buffed demons.
Possessed demons are bullshit design. In one interview Hugo said something in the lines of 'any idiot can make a difficult game, just add bulletsponge enemies'. And yet, possessed demons are there.

carcASSes and whiplashes are aids
They're tricky because yes they need to go but another will respawn shortly after. Also attention on them is attention away from the possessed boi
@@RK_Koala I find prowlers are a pain not because they teleport around and are hard to catch but since they look like an imp at a glance
@@zephels I hate prowlers because I've had a couple times were 3-4 simultaneously teleported around me, and there's nothing you can really do about that if you're blood punch isn't charged. Besides that they're fine.
At least they die in one charge of destroyer blade

I really like them, just not when they infinitely respawn in this specific instance. Made the encounter super annoying to even get an opening.

Every time I've done this, once i killed the possessed marauder which always takes around 10 minutes then i never have enough plasma and i watch in agony as the second marauder becomes possessed
Try precision bolt instead of ballista then to save on plasma. You will lose out a little on damage but I think switching to the heavy cannon is faster anyway so you don't lose out to much on DPS in a combo.
imagine if a spirit could possess a spirit...
The fact that you managed to survive that utter chaos is incredibly impressive! It's quite inspiring if you ask me.

Carcasses sent my brain into overdrive, if it weren't for them the encounter would be cut several minutes shorter

did you have the nearDeath rune active? i forget what its called but if a demon kills you it switches to black and white slomo for like 8 seconds to give you a chance to escape and recuperate
I just started a Nightmare run the other day and just got past the first trial of the blood swamps... but i'm thinking when i get to this slayer gate i may just breeze on past it lol... not sure any videogame is worth me getting PTSD over 🤣
@@RK_Koala - also i dug watching this for tips on how to start... i played this slayerGate a couple weeks back on UltraViolence and spent alot of time trying out different strats on the first two Archviles... the furthest i got in those UV runs was killing the second BloodMaykr and de-sledding the doomHunter :p
the strat i settled on was ice bombing the first Archvile and then shooting him with either 3 or 6 rockets i cant remember
anyways, what i found interesting about your run is that something you do pushes or nudges the first archvile to be sorta in line with the second one... which i'm guessing helps for any attacks that can pierce thru the first and still hit the second
i am curious if that was on purpose or pure accident?
i'm guessing on purpose, but just checking :p
also guessing its either the slayerBlade or the flameBelch that pushes that first archvile forward like that?

And the first Arch-vile got pushed like that because of the destroyer blade charge, when it charges fully it releases a shockwave

Tip for next time: meat hook to blood punch on a carcass is an instant stagger.

He is still better than Davoth because atleast he is super intense instead of keeping you waiting

Of course you should, regardless of the playstyle the game is fun
Quick switching only increases the damage output, but really there is no need to use it if you are unable or unwilling
I beat my first playthrough on nightmare not knowing that you could actually do all that stuff
The blood swamps and The Holt has the best soundtracks i have ever heard better then urdaks

Tip: use the tune which slows time down when you're in air. I'm on console too it helped a fuck ton with maykr drones ,blood makyrs and weak points

Ive fought 2 screecher buffed marauders and i have to admit that was a fkin nightmare of a fight, i have fought a possessed marauder and i feel your pain, they are so fkin annoying to deal with

The drones are my nightmare. Mostly invincible with area denial melee that slows you and long range attacks that penetrate cover. And you can only kill them when they are attacking
I think you are ferrering to the Blood Makyrs, The Drones are the small ones with a golden head and a body, that rapid fire yellow projectiles from their head.
The Blood Makyrs are not too hard if you focus on them, although headshots are sometimes hard, especially when the fly up in the air to attack.
You can BFG the sky when the blood makyrs spawn in and it will take them out instantly to get through that part of the gate. found that really helpful to cut down on the time of the gate.

@@RK_Koala я когда видел как ты бежал в портал я будто в мысли твои залез и увидел там "где блять хоть один бес для распила", я часто сам в такой ситуации когда собрал хп и патроны, ждёшь открытие мародера, а он стоит и не стреляет, в итоге патроны используешь на других, он в тебя шмаляет впритык, и ты снова бежишь что б перезарядиться и собрать хп и снова готовый ждёшь открытия

When Slayer Gate was awesome and hard ;-(... Pre-nerfed!
When I was doing this Slayer Gate. The Possessed Merawder apparently died I damaged him a fue times and went to go get some more ammo and when I was looking around for him he died from something and the spirit possessed a Carcass witch was lucky.
Now what we need is 2 marauders which both are possessed and have a buff totem active with infinitely spawning archviles.
Buff totems (thankfully) override the spirit buff
There can't be two buffs at the same time
@@RK_Koala Yeah that seems about right. Still, I'd say that infinitely spawning archviles would be busted when also trying to fight a marauder. They should do that for a master level or something.

Recently made my way back through TAG1 and I forgot they nerfed this slayer gate. Went over to deal with the 3rd Archvile and it never spawned before I remembered the nerfs. Sad, but I mean it is easier now I guess
Tip, this works on regular marauder but might not with the possessed one, shoot him with the arbelast explosive shot, then grenade at his feet then missile lock on or ballista/Super shotgun

I was trying this on ultra violence and I didn’t even get passed the doom slayer.
I hated how they put THREE ARCHVILES
The 3 archviles on the super Gore Nest master level are harder because you fight all three at once while the holt slayer gate has some mercy by having 2 at first then adding a third once you kill the first.

my attempt took 20 mins to do and that was not worth it
OK, i tried to finish this game in nightmare back in 2020, but Hayden-Seraphim fight destroyed my guts and after finally killing him i deleted the game from Steam, went to my freezer and put my sorry ass inside just to cool that fire off. Back then i was just skipping DLC slayergates because i was a pussy and because of shitty rewards, those support runes i mean, 2/3 of them are useless.
It took me more than 2 yrs to decide another nightmare try. So when i was playing main campaign i felt something is wrong. Like, it was harder back then.
I was kinda SUS. Did they nerfed the game? And now i started TAG1 and i'm not SUS anymore, i'm SURE they nerfed it. Remember that stupid fight with arachnotron+demon hunter in the fog in the blood swamps? In 2020 i remember there were also shield soldiers, now they are gone. I did this fight first try, when back then it took me something like 15-20 attempts. But maybe i'm just being delusional? Maybe there was soldiers and i just killed them without notice? It's just an example, i constantly feel the game became easier.
So this video gave me the answer. I just finished (like a 1-2 hours ago) this exact slayergate after like 30-40 attempts and it was different.
First, there are only 2 archviles instead of 3. Second, when posessed marauder appears, there is no constant reviving of carcasses anymore, only 2 initial of them in the beginning of the phase, but no more. Third, in the last phase instead of normal marauder there is just a hell knight. I'm playing on nightmare, i cheked this.
They really absolutely surely 100% nerfed the game.
Which means i will never finish it on initial nightmare. Which means i will forever remain a pussy.

i just did this for my first time on ultra violence (first time doom player) on the 3rd try killed the possessed maurader right where the second one spawned and before i finished my microwave beam i had to dash because of imps so the second maurader got possessed...ended up being the run i actually finished but suuuuper annoying lmao

It would be a great Slayer gate if the game wouldn't be still broken. Maybe it's only me but on ps4 i started having issues in weapon swaps, not working inputs, and even collisions in invisible walls. Even after super gore nest patch, i still have some problems, and i'm really good at the game. Is anyone having the same issues?
