Girl, i feel like you are telling my story. Growing up I've always been told "its both of you" even when shit was going down in front of people. Just recently my brother threw a whole makeup kit suitcase at me in front of my mother and told her he'll smack the shit outta me, and that same night I had to put on a smile for pictures because it was my grandmother's bday and no one else knew what happened 2 hrs before that party. I was glad my best friend was there to vindicate me because once again my mother said it was both of us. She never blamed just him. Now i distance myself during family events. You are so right, situations like this you have to be prepared to stand alone because everyone will tell you that you're "being sensitive, being extra" or "thats still your brother". Its never only one time. CALL THE POLICE!!!!

I am actually happy and sad that you could relate to the story. I’m happy because I’m glad to spread awareness about situations like these and I’m also sad because no one ever deserves to go through this type of violence especially coming from family❤

this is so sad and happens frequently a lot in black households! and this also happens when it comes to se-ual abuse they think because it’s family you have to be quiet or NEED TO BE QUIET . or they brush you off or don’t believe you! this happened to me one time with my brother when I was younger about 13 we got into it and he was way bigger ( men are stronger then women ) and he had my nose bleeding I opened the door at my apartments and was screaming for help ( my mom was at work ) and he dragged me by my feet & slammed the door close and continued to hit me in my face .. I called my mom & I got in trouble because she was at work and she said i needed to keep my hands to myself mind you I never hit my brother first only in defense! & let’s not count the multiple times I was SA .. by my male cousins and had outbursts about it and that was also swept under the rug (: but now just because one is 💀 & the other is Alive & 🌈 it doesn’t matter ( I’m 24 now ) .. & am still forced to be around them for family events . i have a 7 yo son now and I am raising him up to be so different & instilling keeping his hands to himself when it comes to women! & where & when to display his emotions and anger! thanks for sharing! 🤍🤍
