What a great way to start the day ! Sooooo many laughs in this episode ! Thanks a LOT for uploading for us to enjoy ! Wonderful how Jack's writers wove popular songs & expressions of the day (and current news events) into the script each week. 😄❤👍
I love the OTR shows, and have a large variety of them on many MP3 CDs which I collected over several years! Each CD has up to about 100 shows on them! I'm old enough to still remember radio shows playing alongside TV shows! I like the radio shows MUCH better than TV!!!
Jack did his parody of "The Whistler" FOUR times- twice on radio [he did it again in 1950], and twice on TV [a "live" 1957 edition, and a 1964 filmed episode].
I only seen the episode once on a PBS airing in the early 1990s. If I recall correctly he played the part in a black cape. The January 1957 episode is called "The Fiddler" and the April 1964 episode is called "I Am The Fiddler".

I listened to old radio shows for about a year (no tv's or other radio during that time). This is a really great way to learn your history. :D

@@jayonnaj18 Yes, the radio shows are timeless.

+Barry I. Grauman After hearing this, I listened to probably every episode of the Whistler. :D I LOVE old radio shows.
This was actually the SECOND version of "The Fiddler", originally broadcast on February 26, 1950.
The first version had him declaring, "I.....am 'The Fiddler'! I play by night. They won't let me play in the DAYTIME......**hideous laugh**"
Quite right. Sorry for the mistake - I've corrected the date.
