Do you hear the subharmonic octave thing it does when you push the amp? I wish I couldve turned it up loud enough when I saw one used for sale and tried it out. I really dig this amp. Great tones in the demo!
I use mine live. But I love low wattage amps. I use 2 amps live. The Laney and either a Brent Hinds Terror (15w), Fender Deluxe Reverb (22 Watts), or if I want to be loud I use my 1968 fender Bassman (50 watts). The volume difference between the 4 amps doesn’t effect anything. That whole “you need 100w” thing is bullshit. If you want the sound of a cranked amp a 30w Laney on 7 will sound better than a 100w Marshall on 2 live. For me it’s about the tone not the volume.
@@WorldsOkayestGuitarDemos that sounds like a wicked set up live. With doom bands guys usually have insanely loud rigs to begin with so jamming with anyone they usually expect you to have something that keeps up. I love Marshall amps and I'd die to have a 2203 or a super lead, but those are crazy expensive and impractical these days. I looked at the studio 20 watt Marshalls before the Laney and the Marshalls are like 600 dollars more expensive new, the Laney seems like a better deal. I like that it's a straight up no frills old school amp, no master volume, no fx loop, no reverb, just straight amp.
@@russiangoose7053 A few more tips. Just some observations I’ve made. I run it through either a 2x12 cab with v30 and a Greenback or a 1x12 with a v30. Run the bass EQ on zero. If you want that classic Sabbath tone use a Treblebooster. It absolutely is an old fashioned British style amp. So, if you do any tight chugging, make sure you have an overdrive pedal on your board that will tighten the bass (yes, even with the bass on zero). I use a Wampler Tumnus for this exact reason.
@@WorldsOkayestGuitarDemos i currently have a Marshall 1960 cab with G12T75's, I been thinking about blending in some greenbacks maybe, I'm not a huge V30 fan. I'm usually a plug straight in and play kind of guy, I occasionally run a big muff just for the extra heavy Windhand style stuff. I do chug but I wouldn't call it a tight modern chug, it's more a thick doomy chug haha. And I primarily play punk but infused with doom, kinda like some misfits earth AD type stuff. You're starting to talk me into one of these amps, you're doing a better job selling it to me than the official Laney videos
stanislavmigra No.. There are definitely pedals that sound bad through it. It doesn’t really like Klon style pedals at all.. and tubescreamers are pretty ok through it. It really likes Trebleboosters and vintage fuzzes. Especially Tonebender and Fuzz Face types. Also, I actually prefer the amp through 10” speakers because any pedal with a lot of bass, like a big muff, is completely unusable through 12” speakers with it.
I don’t know if the low end would be quite tight enough when palm muting that fast. I use a lighter overdrive with a little bit of a bass cut to keep it tight enough.
Yo what's the amp settings same as the thumbnail? Cause my la30bl and rat don't sound this aggressive lol
You have to turn the bass off on the amp. Run it through some greenbacks

It does that yes. I run my with the bass on 0. That keeps it manageable.
Muy buena demo!! La distorsión es solo del rat o tienes el ampli un poco crach??
Sounds killer. 🔥
This thing sounds killer and is affordable, I just worry it wouldn't be loud enough in a doom band :/ do you think it would cut it?

Thanks for the vids man, gonna order myself a Rat now
Nick Evil If you can find an old one I would recommend it.
Nick dont be fooled, ANY pedal sounds MEGA thru that laney amp ;)

@@WorldsOkayestGuitarDemos did you tried to add tubescreamer or treblebooster (on unity gain or lower) after muff?
stanislavmigra No.. it’s not worth it really. The other ones are so good, what’s the point?
Evil sound!
What's the type of these pickups?
57 Classic / 57 Classic +
I wonder if this type of sludge doom metal type guitar rig would work with thrash metal that be intresting
