Zionism is a simple idea: The Jewish nation has a right to their own NATION-STATE in their historic homeland of Israel. At least 2 Jewish states were founded on the same land before the current state of Israel, and no "Palestinian" state was here, at any time, ever. In fact, there is no "Palestinian" History before the current state of Israel. Even if you advocate for a "Palestinian" state, why don't you define the one Arab state that has an overwhelming majority of its population identifies as "Palestinians" - The Kingdom of Jordan, which has a 70% "Palestinians" - as that state? Furthermore, there is NO APARTHEID in Israel, as Arab citizens are represented in all levels of government, have equal rights to every other Jewish citizen, and serve in the highest levels everywhere, from the Supreme Court to the business sector. Nothing like South-Africa.
If you find yourself waving a Palestinian flag while simultaneously believing that Native Americans have a legal claim to every square inch of North America, you might just be the poster child for confused activism-like a vegan at a barbecue trying to convince everyone that tofu burgers are the new brisket. It’s as if you’ve taken a crash course in irony and graduated with honors. Picture this: you’re passionately advocating for one group’s rights while inadvertently ignoring the complex history of another. It's like trying to solve a Rubik's Cube by painting over it; sure, it looks colorful, but good luck making sense of it all! So, before you strap on those protest shoes and dive headfirst into yet another cause, maybe take a moment to consider your stance. After all, understanding the nuances of social justice is key-unless, of course, your goal is simply to collect as many activist badges as possible for your social media profile.
I think I actually understand his point, but I don't know if even he understands. Conservatives believe it would be immoral for an indigenous population to throw people out of their ancestral homeland purely because they are indigenous. Jewish people, being both indigenous to Israel, and the most oppressed group on the planet (by a wide margin) don't have the right to throw out the Palestinians. As someone that supports republicans, I somewhat agree. I don't think Jewish people being oppressed gives them the right to Israel. Just as I don't believe native American oppression gives them the right to America. But I don't think that Jewish people are entitled to Israel because they "just threw out people". I think they purchased the land, then created a deal with an empirical power for said land. Then they fought a defensive war and further defined their borders. This would fall in line with conservative principles. In fact, more than any other country, Israel sought statehood through legal means. So I don't think his argument holds up. I think Michael straw manned him and he fumbled, but it is an interesting perspective.
He makes as much sense as any Dem in 2024.
