- James Marsters (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Dragonball) joins me this week to share his experiences with acting as an art on-screen and on-stage before his breakout in Buffy.
James also opens up on what it was like to have to take in his five year old niece and having to raise her as his own after already being a ‘weekend dad.’
We also get into stories back in the day on the set of Smallville, the idea of competition in art, and James’ experience with some of the cast and crew on Buffy.

Happy Tuesday folks 💙 like, subscribe, and share! Be well out there!!
All of these years later and I still expect to hear a british accent when James talks lol
Whoever had the job of overdubbing the entire interview with an American accent did a great job.
James Marsters' scene with Sarah in the church was one of the best performances committed to screen hands down.
James is and was a seriously underappreciated actor. His acting made me fall for a character I was absolutely NOT rooting for, initially. Yes, it was Spike, obviously. His eyes spoke volumes
My brain cant process the fact that James isnt actually Spike.
"She's not in love with him yet" Thank you James for confirming that Buffy did love Spike in the end
James and I were best friends back in the 80s. We met as waiters at a place called Monday's in the Intercontinental Hotel on Michigan Avenue. He was making a name for himself in theater in Chicago and living in Rogers Park. One of the most genuine, authentic, and awesome people I had the pleasure to know. I watched his apartment on Greenland Avenue when he got married and checked in on his brother, Paul, while James was in Cali.
I feel like the "Out. For. A. Walk. Bitch!" quote is underrated here 😂
I know a way James could come back as Spike. The Shanshu prophecy said that after the great battle a vampire with a soul would get to be human. Angel signed away his claim to the prophecy, and it was never really determined if it was Angel or Spike the prophecy was talking about. Spike could have been made human and is now living as a 57 year old, still fighting evil, perhaps as a watcher to a new slayer.. If this happens, I want my royalty for the idea. :-)
James does not look 57 years old. This is hard to believe. He looks like he’s in his 40s
Came for Spike, stayed for James Marsters
James Marsters spent his money for the good of his niece.
Spike´s popularity was the best thing that ever happened to Buffy´s story arc, gave the story and the characters so much depth. I was so grateful for Spike, he´s still my favorite character, he represented redemption and taught us about the complexity of the human experience. Buffy was probably the first TV show that blurred the lines between heroes and antagonists, he was the Jamie Lannister of the early '00s and as a troubled teen in the process to be a troubled young adult I was thankful for that, I needed that.

I just fell in love with this man for the second time in my life. First as Spike, now as a lovely human being.
I love how James doesnt bad mouth his little brother.
I loved him as Braniac in Smallville. One of my favorite characters!
James is still very handsome, however, I totally agree with him not wanting to ruin the iconic image of Spike. You can tell he really respect the character and the work he put into it.
I binge Buffy at least twice a year since the show ended , it has the power to make me feel better powerful and puts me in a good mood when i feel bad or sick💚 💚💚
