I used this song to teach about 911 before i retired from teaching. Since 1/6/21 I keep listening to this. I loved politics and discourse between different ideas. That was ever since I was in kindergarten watching news with my dad and grandparents. 1976 my senior year in high school I was in the Monday Group in Lee County FL. We made history fighting our county commissioners and passing a tax levy in a Presidential election year. 2017 I worked with the Idaho Medicaid for all which passed to all the establishment views otherwise. Since the insurgency I don't even watch the news.
Fun fact: Ms. Bass has apparently seen this show MANY times, and talked quite a bit with the woman who plays her. I imagine this has helped the actress do an even better job and get inside her head.

I'm just trying to say that without Jenn, we wouldn't have this beautiful song for Rachel and Alice to sing. Jenn is who decided to have the song in a higher key to portray Beverley Bass' excitement. Also, Beverley Bass said ""what I love about watching Jenn play my role is that she acts exactly the way I act. She's just so in charge. That's how it had to be for me, being a female pilot on one of the biggest airplanes in the sky. You had to show them who the boss is or you cannot maintain people's respect.".
When I went to see the show last year she came and spoke afterwards! Along with the real-life mayor and another person from Gander. It was super cool :)
When I saw “Come From Away” in New York in December 2019, I spotted Captain Bass while we were in the queue outside the Gerald Shoenfeld Theatre, as well as by the bar. It took me a second to register her face, but then I thought, “Hey, she kind of looks like Jenn Colella.” And then it clicked, and I said to myself, “Hey, that’s Captain Bass!” Later, before the show began, the rumor started flying about Bass being there; and needless to say, people got pretty excited. It was then that I learned that she has seen the show well over a hundred times. It wasn’t until recently that I learned that she has also taken countless female pilots with her, which is absolutely incredible! I couldn’t work up the courage to talk to her (I kept thinking that maybe she was trying to lay low and I didn’t want to disrespect her privacy), but I’m hoping that if I get another chance, I’ll be a bit less cowardly.
I saw this last night in Dallas, and a lot of American Airlines pilots and flight attendants were there. They all stood up and cheered when she announced she was the first female American captain. It was so emotional and amazing. I've never heard so much cheering and applause throughout a song. I cried and cheered so much. What an incredible show.

I saw this show on Broadway in the spring of 2019, if you have the opportunity to go see it you should. It really is amazing, and there are parts of the story line that aren't in the songs. This musical changed my life I very much recommend it.

My dad is a retired commercial pilot, and I know he felt the same way as Captain Bass about airplanes being used as terrorist weapons.
