- BIG CHIMINEA was basically the idea behind this project. A local restaurant wanted a giant CNC Plasma Cut Steel Fire Feature and we came up with this truncated pyramid/trapezoidal design that fit the bill perfectly.
If you do not have a CNC Plasma Table, I have included free cut plans so this beast can be built with just a grinder and welder. If you are part of the CNC Plasma Cutting Team, there are also free DXF Files. All downloads can be found on a FREE post on my Patreon at / 42fab

Dang, my friend. You're braver than I would be. No way you'd get me welded into a box. :-) Looks fun! I wish I had a yard for one of the kits, they look awesome.
That firepit is wicked cool 42Fab
Thank you so much for making this post and plans free you’re the man!
Really great looking, and looks fantastic in the space.
I dig it
Great video 42fab

cool project
Nice one!
great job I like it
Wow, thats beautiful. I love that design. You got great ideas my friend!
Just saw your shirt and some other hints around that you're from Oklahoma. Enid is my home. Loved watching a bunch of your vids this afternoon. I'm a homer welder, but I may have to try the chiminea soon.
I just figured out about where you’re located, we went to Super Cao Nguyen via 36th from I 235. You are right in there close.
Great design I would love to make something similar
Machine AND Hand cutting plans are linked for FREE in the description, send me a picture!
Love the impromptu ventilation 😂
a lot of planning went into making that suck as little as possible
Next up on 42 Fab... How I welded Tommy into a metal box...
Nice video! It would be sweet if you made a video were you went over how you price out jobs like this.
That's what I do on patreon for every project
That's a Big Chim, man that looks good but ya should'a put the little guy in there...dammm doors anyway..Making it work either way !!
Good luck
Giving the HTP a workout with those welds!
It didn't bad an eye
Holly crap. No way I’m inside that welding. Looks great though. So top is 🔥 bottom wood storage?
Exactly
Cool build! What brand of plasma table do you have?
It's a shop fabricobbled abomination
Do you sell weld kits for this size chiminea?
We do, it's the 82" model
Pardon my lack of knowledge, what is the open bottom part for? Is it to let air come in from underneath? Just asking.
Firewood storage, fire goes in top hole
@@42Fab ahh, thanks very much.
Nice one. I want to make myself a BBC for the yard from raw steel sheets like COR-TEN. Do You have an idea how long a 3mm (1/4') steel can last in a continental climate unprotected from the elements?
A long time
As long as you make sure water can drain and doesn't collect somewhere in the structure, you should be fine.
Will a single 4 x 8 piece of 12 gauge do it or do I need more?
the 7' model comes out of 2 sheets
For custom look make door cut out with logo
What steel grade and thickness did you use please? I've been told 0.7mm stainless. Would mild steel be ok to burn wood?
this is 12ga Hot Rolled. Burns wood just fine.
Would cold rolled steel work just the same?
Yeah, would just rust faster
@@42Fab thank you! im thinking about making one. Not sure what cost more hot or cold rolled but i want to look at my options and see whats most cost effective.
where can we get a copy of the .dxf file of the corner 7' tall chiminea?
It's included in the plans for the 4' model at 42fab.com
What gauge steel did you use for this beast?
12 works fine
Can your plasma cutter do 1/4 inch Aluminum?
yeah, 1/2" of anything without much issue, 5/8" mild steel is the max I've needed to do, it did it
What temperature and speed were you using for this?
About 5% less than book for 12ga
What gauge steel did you use?
12
what thickness of the plate did you use? congratulations 🇧🇷🇧🇷
This one was 12ga. I wouldn't go any thinner
42Fab - Metal Fabrication & Signage 12 ga ? 12 mm
We use gauge, so yes 12 gauge. Approximately .1" or something like 2.5mm
42Fab - Metal Fabrication & Signage ok got it .... perfect ... thank you and congratulations for the products made.
Do you sell that as a kit??
Indeed www.Weldityourselfkits.com
Why not do it in 2 and fold it saves some welding and easier assembly
and then the corners don't match, not to mention the need for a hell of a bender
Total claustrophobia moment
no offense, but Tommy is half your size... why didn't you make him crawl in there? :) Great design and fun video.
He's not the welder. He's learning though
