GIANT Steel Chiminea | CNC Plasma Cut Firepit

  • BIG CHIMINEA was basically the idea behind this project. A local restaurant wanted a giant CNC Plasma Cut Steel Fire Feature and we came up with this truncated pyramid/trapezoidal design that fit the bill perfectly.
    If you do not have a CNC Plasma Table, I have included free cut plans so this beast can be built with just a grinder and welder. If you are part of the CNC Plasma Cutting Team, there are also free DXF Files. All downloads can be found on a FREE post on my Patreon at / 42fab

    Nice one. I want to make myself a BBC for the yard from raw steel sheets like COR-TEN. Do You have an idea how long a 3mm (1/4') steel can last in a continental climate unprotected from the elements?

      As long as you make sure water can drain and doesn't collect somewhere in the structure, you should be fine.

    What steel grade and thickness did you use please? I've been told 0.7mm stainless. Would mild steel be ok to burn wood?

      this is 12ga Hot Rolled. Burns wood just fine.

    Can your plasma cutter do 1/4 inch Aluminum?

      yeah, 1/2" of anything without much issue, 5/8" mild steel is the max I've needed to do, it did it

      This one was 12ga. I wouldn't go any thinner

      We use gauge, so yes 12 gauge. Approximately .1" or something like 2.5mm

    Why not do it in 2 and fold it saves some welding and easier assembly
