Hi Dr Luwago, I’m glad you’re there to listen. I’ve got some great benga 45’s all pressed in Zimbabwe, or before Zimbabwe. I’d be curious if you think of any of the tracks coming up have any Zim music influences. I feel some of them do but hard for me to describe what that is. Many of these Kenyan benga singles don’t appear to have a Kenya release… but always not easy to verify.
@jasonbyrne_benga Oh, thank you for offering to load more benga music 🎶. I think it's Kenyan benga, which could have influenced the Zimbabwean music. According to many Zimbabweans, they used benga music during their wars for independence, suggesting that their music was not prominent, when benga already was. But music may also influence each other in equal terms. Mr. Sylvester Alouch, @Alouchjakitere, and Dr. Meshack Amimo @meshackamimo1945 may do more analysis, themselves being Kenyan and Luo.
@@Dr.lukwagoAsuman Thank you Dr. Lukwago for getting the word out! It's very interesting about Zimbabwe's liberation war music being heavily benga. I heard something about Kenyan record producer P.O. Kanindo bringing these sounds there, or at least bringing more of these sounds there due to the popularity. There are many great visuals on these pages to what the liberation war time was like when the benga was played. If anyone from Zim has any film that they shot at this war time, PLEASE let me know and would love to see it.
Welcome back nice selection keep up bro.
Thanks, will do!
Yes very sweet music of mori river jazz band
