Eric you keep finding pearls of golf wisdom out there and this video has a number of them! Thank you!

This video was a gamechanger, as a student of youtube golf constantly learning and applying to get things right, this was the key. I find that I learn many different pieces from Eric and other youtube coaches which are all well meant and correct, but I find that I think too much about one piece after trying to solve a problem and 'zoom in' too much making my swing a disjointed sometimes robotic ttempt to connect disparate teachings in 1 and a half second. This tempo tip, once I tried it, actually helped me piece it all together in a fluid, natural, moving motion with really great results. Thanks a million Eric, this is GOLD.

Don’t stray from the tension free. It’s the glue that holds everything together. Even when you have a bad round. Trust me.

Appreciate that! I agree and hear ya...Lots of info and lots of micro stuff we all talk about.....
Gotta take it in doses and make sure you are only really working on 1-2 pieces at a time ever.....and then turning that into something SIMPLE to play with

@@CogornoGolf Absolutely, one little thing I noticed was that this video also goes well with your other video on getting the lower body/hips forward in the downswing to improve ball striking and timing the weight shift so I don't finish my swing with my weight on my back foot. So with the 1 - 2 count, there's naturally a slight pause between 1 and 2, so in my head it goes 1 AND (shift happens here) 2 it's made timing my weight shift and getting hips forward A LOT more consistent and natural. Thanks again! Love from South Afica

Always on the money Eric. So simple yet so necessary. Don/t know how many times I've gritted my teeth especially when I get ticked off during a round. Thanks for helping me stay focused. Be good-Russ

When I was struggling with my swing during the first year of playing college golf, 40+ years ago, I found out my backswing was too slow and I would have a too fast transition. So I figured out if I didn’t stay motionless over the golf ball too long, and took one look at the target and then start my backswing with a forward press as soon as my eyes went back to the ball, my tempo was much more even, and had a nice smooth transition. Also held up much better under pressure.

Love the tips Eric, as a 50 something ho started golf a few years ago, I’m a classic choke the club, try and whack the ball and some early extension thrown in !!! And that’s after some lessons 😂. But lately my coach and I have been working on a super slow turn / rhythm (which I guess is your 1 to 1) I’ve tried using this on the course with a full swing (your A to B) and keep relaxed and slow and guess what (well as you are the best on line coach and a genius of the game you will know the answer!!) I can hit it further and more consistently 👍. If you always do what you always did, you will always get what you always got ! And like most people watching your great tips I want change and a better result, so I’ll be working on all of these tips much more. Thanks again Eric for more great content 💪 👍

Thanks Eric. I'm trying to swear off swing mechanics videos because I feel like I'm at a place where tinkering will only hurt. This video is perfect for that place. Counterintuitive, but slowing down actually increases distance!

I shot what could have been my lowest front 9 ever after just applying the 1:1 tempo mindset to my swing. Shot a 42 with a dismal triple bogey on the 9th. What a front that could have been! Ended the round with a 90 which I’m very happy with as a 22 handicapper. Love these videos. Thanks Eric

I will add these tips to my practice.

I've just played 3 days in a row. Day two it was windy so I was trying to swing easy (it was breazy) . I played the best of all three, hit drives and approach shots so sweetly and wasn't going for distance (possibly tensing up) so much. This advice really resonates with me I will use it all the time.

I notice whenever I’m approaching impact that I can feel the tension getting greater as I’m bracing for impact especially in the shoulders. They have always said the golf swing is supposed to just collect the ball as you are finishing your through swing. I will try all the tips as they were explained very well especially the one that tries to eliminate any tension at all. Less tension should equate to a nice swing from point A to point B with no more hit anxiety.. thank you Eric

My shift from tense to tension free has brought me from 15 handicap to a 7 handicap, no kidding.
My only question is how would you say pressure / tension might change in less than ideal situations, I.E. hitting from the rough or fairway bunker?

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  Месяц назад

      Love it!
Yeah DEF out of rough....fairway bunker can be the same bc should be nothing between club and ball but OK if a bit tighter helps...
I would just use these as a general guide and see what works best for you...no hard rules!

Reminds me of Padraig Harrington sticking his tongue throughout the swing. That eliminates pressuring anything lest you risk biting your tongue.

Grip pressure is a difficult one for me. As you swing the club gets heavy and you instinctively grip harder. If i try to loosen it feels like the club is out of control

    • @CogornoGolf

Absolutely agreed. Takes practice....and again it's just a FEEL. We WILL for sure grip harder when we swing...the goal here is just to be aware of it and not over do it
