      GOOD LUCK LOTS OF LOVE
      Problem is you have to pay rent $3000 a month for rent for the rest of your life (city).
      In Australia the average house price is 800,000 to 1.2 million dollars .Who can afford that ?
      Also lack of job opportunities in Australia

    Having moved from Surrey to the Brisbane area in 2015 I can fully attest to the value proposition here. In our case we bought in the Redlands though, some 25kms from the city. We traded our 3 bed semi-detached pebble-dashed 1930s eyesore for a much too large 4/5 bedroom house for about $150,000 less (the exchange rate was heavily in our favour at that time.
    Nearly 7 years on I still have to pinch myself that I live somewhere so absolutely amazing.
    Brisbane is such a beautiful little city too.

    As a student at QUT which happens to be in the middle of the city, I’ve always wanted to move closer to it but the rents are just ridiculous. Currently with my pay I can’t even imagine living in a space so expensive but well done on covering the process and it’s ins and outs! Loved the tours!

    I'm a student and have been living in brissy for around 3 months and a bit now. currently living in a shared student accommodation flat with amazing views but I know a lot of work needs to be done to turn it into a home! though the place and location itself is great, I am not with the ideal flatmates so it's been difficult to make it a place I want to keep living in. this is giving me lots of hope, ideas and excitement as I'm planning to move to a different shared space but with friends I met here. I cannot wait to make it into a home. thanks for the video, it's so well organised and well delivered.

    This was a really good overview. The main issue I keep finding when looking for 1B/1B in Brisbane is the kitchen and living area almost overlap in most buildings. Very few buildings actually have properties with a decent sized living area which is important for small apartment living but they’ll charge and egregious amount for rent.

      How is your hunt going? I'm moving to Brisbane from overseas next month and will be looking for a 1bedroom as well. I've heard they're in a housing crisis atm so really worried about not finding anything. / not getting approved. Have you had much luck?

    • @beingbett
      @beingbett 2 года назад

      @@oliviamacrobbie9444 Hey! We recently got offered 3 properties so don’t be discouraged! If you’re looking for a place in the inner-city it’s definitely a lot more competitive but, if you’re looking for a place 3-5km out of the city, it shouldn’t be too hard. I’d definitely be proactive in communicating with the real-estate agent so they get your application on their radar. Give them a call asking for the status of the application/ if they’d found a successful applicant yet. I found they would approve someone and not let you know for a couple of week whilst the property is still listed as available. You could also email the building manager and ask them if anybody’s lease is ending soon and that you’d be interested in moving in ( we did this a couple of times and got to put our application in before they listed it online ). All the best with the move 😊

    Nice choice! If the hospital is near a train station I would hardly even bother looking in the CBD. Personally, I live in Melbourne and would be happy to live in an inner city suburb with more space and good transport links. It's nicer to walk around a more homely suburb with a community feel and all the cafes, restaurants etc that you need. Also they tend to be cleaner and quieter with less weirdos around! CBDs are always a bit sterile and the tiny apartments are overpriced, I'm just not a fan of skyscrapers. The 'prison cell windows' are really common in new builds for privacy reasons so you don't overlook neighbours. I prefer older buildings that have larger rooms. Unfortunately I don't know Brisbane well enough to recommend a particular area haha, although I have lived in London!

      It can depend on the aspect of the second bedroom. Some will get too much sun and need a small window. Also more common in modern towers. Other apartments with a good aspect will have a huge second bedroom. Often going out to the same verandah as the main living area and master.

      Hi Melanie, I live in Brisbane and have my whole life. the rental crisis here is very bad. there are families sleeping in their cars because the cost of rent is just so unaffordable for most families, and so so competitive. I wouldn't be in any rush to move here just yet, as it is hard enough for us already living here unfortunately.

      @@natsbeats69420 Thanks so much for your honesty. I have decided it may be a better choice to move back to Canada. As much as I love Australia the cost of living in Canada is better. I can take extended vacations in Australia. It is my favourite place on earth for sure

    Coming to Australia from S. California was an eye opener for sure, as an example 130.00 US money is 182.00 Australian dollars and these rents are just outrageous.😮....I don't know how nonprofessional people can afford rent in Australia. Plus, we pay by the month saving us to have to scrape up that over 7 or 8 hundred per week😥. We are used to paying so much less here, it was a shock to see your prices. The whole range of goods and services in Queensland is mind boggling.

    So unexpected to see my city on a random YT suggestion. Was a great watch and seeing the inside of these apartments was great for my curiosity since I have very likely seen the buildings over the years.
    Thank goodness you didn't pick that first apartment, it really is in a horrible location with zero benefits.

    Having recently done some research about buying an apartment in that area with a similar aspect and view, I can assure you your rent is a bargain in comparison. Buying will cost over a million $ and if you want three or four bedrooms you’re looking at two million for something decent.

    I would be looking for properties with less light in a city as hot, sunny and oppressive as Brisbane. That's what I did in Melbourne and I'm thankful I did as it saves on air-conditioning costs in summer.

    Just started looking at how to move to Australia. How did you find a Visa that permits you to work in Brisbane? Every option I've seen bars me from working in Brisbane/Sydney/Melbourne because it's a regional visa.
    Looks lovely. Even the 'bad' flats look dreamy to me haha.

    Can you make a video about your separate bathroom philosophy as this sounds fascinating. Who gets the en-suite and why, and if you need a poo in the middle of the night and yours is the en-suite do you nip to the other one and hope your partner doesn’t notice? And if you have guests do you rotate which bog they use or does one person get all the guest “traffic” in their bathroom?

    • @drsurinataneja
      @drsurinataneja  2 года назад +1

      Hahahahaha this comment made me a laugh a lot. Not sure if I could pad out a whole video about this but essentially:
      -I got the en-suite (obviously)
      -We stick to our own bathrooms at all times of day and night
      -Guests use mine because the en-suite has two doors (Jack and Jill bathroom) so they can only access mine from the communal areas. Also I have the nice soaps and diffusers so all round better guest experience I think.
