This is such a wonderful and thoughtful discussion on what the Mort character symbolizes. Death is a reality that we really all should discuss and prepare for. For me, my preference really would be a wooden box burial in my backyard.
Maybe a teddy and mort episode where they go on a side quest? A piece of mort’s crematory retort breaks and they need to go find a special piece? That would be fun. Plus they’ve always had this weird tension, so we could explore that in said plot!
Unfortunately this was before all the news came out. People can discern from their own sources how they wish to learn about death care. I still enjoy Caitlin doughty even though I’ve had multiple people tell me they find her methods problematic too.
Weekend at Morts is legitimately one of my favorite episodes! This was a fantastic video ❤ I love how you talked about the importance of discussing death. I love Mort too 💖 His character really is a unique perspective we don't see a lot.
appreciate the feedback! yes I felt it was all around important to discuss this topic and how ironically, Mort symbolizes this taboo topic and, in relation, often gets put to one side, which is frustrating to see.
Didn't think about Mort like this. However, I think the most important character on Bob's Burgers may be Louise. She's (so much) smarter than everyone else, even her parents. She seems to figure out what's going on before anyone else.... 😏
Speaking of death care workers, how about Robbie's parents, Greg and Janice Valentino, the cheerful funeral directors of "Gravity Falls"?;) Otherwise, Mort, like Teddy, are Bob's daily customers, seen and occasionally heard.
Not you shouting out Lauren literally made me so sad she is so horrible next time give credit to someone who doesn’t bully others. But don’t take that criticism as me not liking the video I absolutely love love love it and I think you are really good at video essays
Yes, I did address this with another viewer who had this concern. This was published before I was knowledgeable about the problematic things that have come to light. I encourage people to educate themselves about death care through their own methods or public figures, and I appreciate the constructive feedback!
I hated Bob's burgers for a long time mostly because I had only seen a few episodes of the very first season and really hated the art. And let's be honest the pilot was literally one of the worst episodes ever made. And I still feel that the episode where Bob has his 'meeting' in the martial arts studio hard to watch. As in I Consistently and actively skip that episode. I kind of wish that the pilot was the episode where he's driving a taxi as it was the most warm of all the season 1 episodes. And I wouldn't have hated on this show for 4+yrs before giveing it another chance. (To be honest I probably wouldn't have even given it another chance if I didn't have a friend who was a big fan and they hadn't changed the channel while I was sleeping) But im really glad they did.
An underutilized character and important discussion overall
The length of this video > Mort’s total screen time in Bob’s Burgers
I’m sure his screen time was more than this, but funny hyperbole!

I like Mort, I wish he had as much screen time as Teddy

@@MissFanCulture I'd love that
I'm a mortician, and I've gotta say, I'd date Mort. He's a cutie.
I can't understand how you can be a mortician. It's a dying business... 😏😆
that joke really knocked me dead
@@stevengalloway8052that joke had me dying of laughter
Great job Amanda! Really great perspective on Mort and the death care industry as a whole.
Not the Lauren the Mortician recommendation 💀

Favorite Bob's Burgers episodes: The Plight Before Christmas, The Amazing Rudy...
Oh gosh, remind me, is “the amazing Rudy” the one where he has to go to dinner with his divorced parents? That one made me cry, for sure

I think mort is an important secondary character, but Louise for sure if a great central character! Love her crazy energy
We’re gonna have a weekend at Mort’s, uh uh weekend at Mort’s.
I love their little choreographed jig during that, too hahaha
Mort is the hottest Bob's Burgers character I love him
He's a man who is sure of himself and has a stable job - what's not to love?!
Amazing Thank You! Please keep up the great work ! :)
Appreciate that feedback, thank you!!!

"How shark was it?"
I enjoy thanks
glad to hear it!
I really don’t suggest anyone ever checking out ask mortician
Do you have alternative suggestions?
Caitlin is awesome, what?
I want to be fish food
It would be cool to be shark food

Great character, wouldn't call him the greatest, sadly essentially nonexistent after season 6 or 7.
I still believe he is the most important character and with the show still active, there is always time for another Mort story to highlight.
Too much discussion about death and grief. Not enough discussion about Mort. Way off topic based on the title and thumb nail
Thanks for the feedback!
