I'm 62 and I agree that cross training help improve performance. I never did weight training before, but, since starting gym (strength & floor) workouts, My FTP (functional threshold power) compared to identical training rides last year has risen 47 Watts and sprinting watts are up 200 W. The gains are 33% to 38% improvement since last year same rides at same month of the year. Just because I exercise at the gym a little bit more. My riding speed up 2 mph... all good and feel great!

Congratulations! That's wonderful progress on the bike and in the gym!
