It has always been one pf my personal favorites, but if you fire your weapons you have made an error or gotten jumped by someone. A cyclops, especially the two seaters with command console is far more valuable directing other units than wading in slinging AC20 rounds. I normally replace the AC20 on mine with M pods front and back. It keeps fast little bastards from jumping you too easily and frees up some weight to allow for extra armor in some form, be it normal means, hardened armor, modular armor package or even a shield. One that I have as a specialty unit has no offensive weapons really, it mounts a few machine guns, M pods, ECM, AMS and APDS with multiple C3 master systems acting as a mobile command outpost that can usually hold out for a friendly to murderify the attacking unit.
I don’t ever remember seeing this one. It’s interesting to me how some of the models and artwork resemble pit droids from Star Wars. Or rather, pit droids resemble the Cyclops. This is another one of those mechs that I think adds verisimilitude to the Battletech universe. It’s an analogue to real command and control units (like an AWACS) on the modern battlefield.
Hello Grim. Back in, oh, 1990? 1991? The person acting as 'Battlemaster' for our playing group allowed me to salvage a Cyclops Mech. I was not impressed with its performance. Although I will admit that it would make a good HQ Mech for larger units like Regiments of Battlemechs, it was almost useless to me as a Merc Commander. So, eventually I traded it for a pair of Wolfhounds and a pair of Panthers. I had far more use for those Mech types than a Mech so narrowly defined as to be only useful as a rear line HQ unit. Given a choice between a Cyclops and an Awesome, the Awesome wins every time. just saying, spoken Frank-ly
My favorite mech of all time. Took some liberty with the weapons load out. Basically made a clan version of the mech. Used that ride till I stopped playing around the time Wizkids took over.
The penultimate tactical command battlemech. It is not the fragile armor and somewhat weak weapon loadout that is notable about the cyclops, but rather its battle computer that can help a commander to keep tabs on the battlefield and command his forces. My modification to the 3025 unit's armament is to drop the SRM 4 and replace the LRM 10 with an LRM 15 to make it into a decent long range harasser, while keeping the AC 20 and medium lasers to use on those who get too close for their own good.
Back when we played tabletop it never showed up, we felt the rarity just didn't make sense. Then 3050 happened and our mercenaries got wrecked. It's decent in the video game.
You really should have wished us all a Cyclops day, instead! In all seriousness, it is best used in reserve as a Command Mech, rather than a primary combatant. The best way to do so, is to replace the AC 20 with anything that has better range. A Low-Tech solution for me is to replace the AC 20 and its ammo with 2 PPC's and 2 Heat Sinks and 1 Ton of Armor.
In the Battletech Advanced mod for the 2018 game, there's a mission where two assault mechs fight against each other while you go in to pick them off. Unfortunately, one of my mechs blew out the cyclops' ammo and the rest of the mech with it and I had to settle with a Mackie lol
listing to all This videos about mechs Wille i play battelehtech its grata thanks for your work. listent to som of your book readings as well love the serices you thet with von carstain vampire
I love when fighting besides good assault mech pilots, emphasis on good, because for the last 2 years any time I play Mech Warrior online, I have to deal with a bunch of morons on my team that either shoot me in the back or a jump, no jump packs mind you, in front of mire when I am firing and I am like "WHY WOULD YOU TANK MY SALVO BLAST FOR THE ENEMY" or "WHERE ARE YOU AIMING"

One of my fav mechs on my first play through of Mech warrior 5 mercenaries. Hero mech variety CP-S with two Gauss rifles, 3 medium lasers and an srm4.
the cyclops is okish but for a 90 ton assault mech its lacking in firepower Great video GDN thanks again for all your hard work
Thanks for watching.
Well it's got the same issues as any other 3025-era 90+ ton Mech trying to go at 4/6 speed. The engine is simply too heavy. Something's got to give.
Love it. I'm rocking 2 in MW5 right now and really love them.

Thank you.

One of my favorite early rides. 3025/3050 were the best ones IMHO.

Sounds interesting :)
I use the SLDF version on battletech often. I dont have one for the tabletop tho.
The Cyclops always remind me of my mount, the Raven. They are specialist force multipliers, not brawlers or weapons platforms.

Glad you enjoy it!
the cycops should have a bulleye attached to the head cos that is the first thing everyone aims for
The cockpit IS the bullseye, after a fashion :D
Like the K varient used one as a player

0:58 Harmony Gold didn't even want this mech...
Its fun when loaded with SRMs in MWO, but its paper armor can be frustrating.
I prefer mine with LBX and RAC2, LRMS and Large Lasers.
👍
These fuck up medium and light mechs in mw5
One of the best LRM trucks i've driven in MWO...
i know it's an abomination so spare me.
No worries.
An interesting mech. Seems to be a bit off balanced for an assault mech.
Seems more like a specialist mech, not one for the front line.
