In terms of genres, Palworld could not be any farther from Pokemon than it is right now. The only semblance the two games have with one another is the ability to capture creatures. The combat system is extremely rudimentary, especially that the Pokemon serve little more than MMO Pets/Minecraft wolves and are pretty much solely autonomous fighting machines meant to aid you in combat rather than being pets you command and control. The base building system is not as in depth nor as complex as other survival games, even for being in early access. There are some mechanics blatantly ripped off from other games as well, not that this is a problem. This game is little more than ARK with pokemon creatures, to call it pokemon with guns is extremely misleading and disingenuous to the nature of what the game truly is. Lastly don’t get me started with the devs, who have a history of releasing games in half-baked states only to basically abandon their projects some time down the line. What makes you think this game is different? It's really unpolished but the foundation is phenomenal. Once they improve the pal ai, fix bugs, and make the multi-player work better, I think it will be incredible. It's kind of funny because it really doesn't feel like the game has a single original idea or mechanic, but the elements of other games the developers chose to rip off and merge together work so well together and are executed so naturally that it feels like the way these games always should have been.

It's a very empty game. You've basically seen everything you can do after 2 hours of playtime and everything after that is just expecting for something new to come along that gives the game more depth, except there is nothing there. All you find after that are reskinned Pokemon that almost all have the same abilities. It's kinda insanely dumb that this game got this many sales.
Thats early access for you. Barebones af but fun for a while. And since they got lucky it became a small Toober game which is why they now have enough budget to keep updating. Its honestly the smartest way to go as an Indie Studio, if your idea is good enough and you created a working alpha build, doing early access is way more profitable than a normal release.

It's not a question of effort, but of time. Game Freak's development cycles these days are insanely short. Had Palworld released in 2022 as originally intended, it wouldn't be anywhere near as functional as it is now.

Tip: if you hold F your pal will come to you for its skill. You don’t have to chase them to ride them or activate their abilities

@@Tinii That doesn't even really make sense, breaking the box does nothing to the pals inside. It may break some stuff around the base that require a pal box but the pals are still there when you make a new one

The last few pokemon games are bad, don't get me wrong, and Nintendo as a company is atrocious, but Palworld IS blatantly plagiarizing Pokemons designs, like 90% of Pals are the definition of "you can copy my homework, but change a few things so no one notices"

@@logangirard65theres literally over 1000 pokemon and not all of them are original. there is no doubt palworld has taken inspiration from some pokemon but theyre not plagarizing, personally i see a lot of charm and heart put into the designs especially when you see how the pals interact with the world and the player

the sparkling ones with jingling sounds aren't shinies, they're ones with a "Lucky" passive skill which is buffed compared to other passive skills
It’s cool to see this game being in the spotlight now, one of the teachers I had in high school is friends with one of the developers. What a small world we live in.

anyone else think this game kinda sucks? After playing a few hours it just seems like a typical early access survival crafting game but with pokemons.
It's a very empty game. You've basically seen everything you can do after 2 hours of playtime and everything after that is just expecting for something new to come along that gives the game more depth, except there is nothing there. All you find after that are reskinned Pokemon that almost all have the same abilities. It's kinda insanely dumb that this game got this many sales.

Thats early access for you. Barebones af but fun for a while. And since they got lucky it became a small Toober game which is why they now have enough budget to keep updating. Its honestly the smartest way to go as an Indie Studio, if your idea is good enough and you created a working alpha build, doing early access is way more profitable than a normal release.

This game honestly doesnt deserve the hype. It's just ark, but with cute creatures. I really dont get the hype. I tried playing it, and asked for a refund in the first half hour. I already own ARK< why do I need this? I don't have friends, so not worth it for me.

it’s not actually pokemon- it’s more inspired, which is what makes it so interesting. not to say an actual pokemon game on this format wouldn’t be amazing to see though.

It's not a question of effort, but of time. Game Freak's development cycles these days are insanely short. Had Palworld released in 2022 as originally intended, it wouldn't be anywhere near as functional as it is now.

Most fun I’ve had with a game in ages. I couldn’t care less about the “stolen” designs and I couldn’t care less about “muh A.I. bad”, if the game is FUN then it’s FUN, and that’s all that matters. Can’t wait to see where they take this gem.

I played in all my spare time since early access dropped. I have 20 hours and only stopped playing because i was playing on official servers and my character and pals got wiped today.
