Personally trained with guru ricketts and spunk in va beach ....for many years ....god bless...guru Ricketts thank you so much , you will be remembered and your legacy is alive in all those you teached, may peace be upon you.
Superb. I loved the moves, the clips, the discussion, the humblness, the principles the system and the man Rickets. Very well putt together. Whih I could fly over and train with him. Mind you, I've been doing Fili sticks for 30 years, and watching the tube. I love truth.
I grew up in Pasil. Cebu City . Most of the notable names of Kali were practically my neighbors. The Romo's, Saavedra's, Marrangas and the Canete's. Growing up in the 70's Kali was not really known so I took up Karate instead. I could have learn from the Master themselves. Except for Cacoy Canete none of these guys have schools anyway.
Thank you very much for uploading. I have the following four questions regarding the weapons though (I mean on average): 1)How long are they (blade length, overall length)? 2) How heavy are they? 3) How thick are their spines? 4) Are they considered machetes, short swords, or knives? What are they called? Thank you very much in advance for taking the time to answer my questions.
1. Blade length is determined based on your individual dimensions... the easiest way to measure is the full length should be equal to the distance from your armpit to your fingertips with your arm fully extended. 2. Depends on the blade profile, no specific weight is required (I don't recall the weight of the ones in the video as I haven't handled them in years... they are steel training swords so they are on the heavier side compared to aluminum ones). 3. Again, depends on the sword... our style does not require the use of a particular sword or machete. On functional Sansibars they tend to start out around 3/8ths inch thickness prior to distal taper from the ones I've handled. The particular sansibar in the video above are a bit on the thinner side but I don't remember exact thickness as I haven't handled that one in years. 4. The swords being used in the video above are called a Sansibar, and they are a type of short sword. Other swords which are commonly used are Barongs, Pinute's, and any other type of sword/machete you wish to utilize.

In lupao, nueva Ecija I think there's still a bladed weapon festival. I'm not sure what new forms to learn from there but I think this has not yet been archived I hope someone will before the old masters gone forever

That's high level.... Beautiful !
I'm fortunate to have met him a few times and trained with some of his guys.
incredible demonstrations. I learned with Archie Luz in Toronto, wish I could learn more!!
Yeah this is a fighting art! It’s hard. It hurts to really learn it. You will feel pain! But it will be retained in your flesh, bone and marrow.
KI is a really good style to learn!
Rip master chris
Loved your teaching❤

there was no kali in the 70`s only Arnis or Eskrima. KAli is pure historic falsification, a term coined by Floro Villabrille.
