The thing at about 5:30 is actually sold as a fish tank. I have one (different shape, same lid, the blue thing on top is an LED light button) that I used for some snails a while back. It is advertised for bettas.
If you think how most people treat Bettas is bad. Look at the hermit crab setups!!! Most do not even give them heat or humidity or the minimum 6 inches of substrate. They usually keep them in a critter keeper and give them a sponge to drink from instead of both fresh water and salt water bowls they can actually submerge in. Let alone the appropriate shells!! While Betas have it bad. Hermit crabs have it worse in my opinion. Especially since more and more people are becoming aware of proper Betta care. Only a select few are aware of proper hermit crab care.
I have to agree there. Used to keep hermit crabs when I was a kid, but learned about the care they actually needed after they had died. I said I would not keep them anymore since I didn't have the ability to keep them correctly. Two years ago, I rescued a couple from a county fair (being sold as prizes at the one game where you throw ping pong balls into glass bottles). One sadly died, but the other is thriving, and he has 5 other crabs to hang out with. They're all purple pinchers, and Dippin, the crab from the fair, has been in my care for nearly two years now. People are always surprised when I tell them how hard they are to care for since most people think they live for a couple of months, eat pellets and drink water from sponges
I’ve seen goldfish put in plastic bags in fairs before but once I saw one and they put the goldfish through a lot of stress. How they would do it is they would throw a ping pong ball into whatever fish bowl and they would win that goldfish. Then they would take the bowl and literally DUMP THE GOLDFISH into a bag and then seal it off. The worst part that I saw was a girl on her phone who wasn’t looking and then put down her phone ON TOP of the fish. I felt so bad for it.
When I was a kid we won goldfish at fairs for hooking a duck . We put them in a small bowl and wondered why they died. Recently given a 25 litre tank and thought I would get some goldfish and I was refused. I was quickly educated and now have the appropriate fish for my tank
Hello soda! I just wanted to say that my boyfriend and I recently got two lovebirds and channels like yours have helped a ton with knowing what's good and bad for birds!
Omg the pictures of the huge fish in the way too small tanks is a weird recurring nightmare for me. It's always my mom's tank and I need to take care of it while she's gone, and the fish are always crazy and try to jump and bite me. My mom wasn't the best fish keeper, but def not that bad.
I works with items for about two weeks in a thrift store, we mostly threw out the stuff that was too dirty by if we could remove some spots and stuff we would, it’s most likely that the frog corpses had gone unnoticed!
Hello! I love your cockatiels. I'd love if you could have a video just showing you interacting and playing with them, or even singing along with them. Maybe a little playtime video, I dunno. Many years ago me and my family raised a lil cockatiel from their parents named C-Jay and Chloe, whom we had for many years before that before we made a nest box for them. Two eggos survived through hatching but one baby passed away soon after. We named the surviving baby Maisy, and another name because we couldn't tell what gender it was. After a while we found out their gender and it was a lil boi, we named him Spencer. But we had to move into a rental house because of a really awful neighbor we had. Spencer learned to say a few words from me working with him all the time and spending all my time with him after school, he was so affectionate and adorable. He was always so curious and singy. After a few years at that rental house and the landlord refusing to take care of a persistent mouse problem, his cage was broken into and he was killed. He was 4 and a half years old, and I was 14 when I found him laying there. It still hurts a lot to think about him even though its been almost six years, he was my best friend when my own wasn't there for me. Tofu looks so much like Spencer that it made me cry. I plan to draw Spencer a memorial picture whenever I can get out of my art block ;v; Hope things are going well.
I’m just curious. What is your emergency plan for your animals? Like in case of a cyclone, do you evacuate your fish into bins or jars? Do you leave your fish? I live in America and am curious what your plan is to keep your animals safe
Thank you for your videos, I learned a lot from you, now my beta fish has a 5.5 gallon tank instead of the one the pet store recommended (1.5 gallon) My fish is so much happier. Again thank you ❤
I'm a veterinary nurse and have always wanted fish. However, even though I'm a vet nurse, I know nothing about keeping fish! I'm too worried that I'd do something wrong and cause the fish upset or even death! That would absolutely break my heart. I wish people would treat fish like other pets!! It seems to me that folks just think fish are these dumb, brainless things that don't feel pain or know what stress is!! It's sad. I keep snakes and dogs because I'm competent and confident at meeting all their needs. I can't say that about keeping fish, so I'll leave that to the professionals and those who absolutely 100% know what their doing!! Absolutely love this channel. Only found you because I saw Petunias rescue video! Thank you so much for saving her. You're an absolute angel who adores all these wonderful creatures, and I can't think of anyone better to have saved her!! Much love, from Wales UK xxxx 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
2:25 they did this on an episode of kitchen nightmares. If it's the same case with this, you most likely catch the lobster and they cook it for you. Very dodgy if you ask me.
I swear to god... I went to a baby shower where the theme was "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue fish." and whoever was in charge of decorating decided to buy a TON of goldfish, stick them in tiny cups, and spread them around the house as decorations... Living.. actual fish.. There wasnt even enough water to cover some of the fish.. My MIL and I ran around the house finding all the fish, putting more water in their pathetic cups... At the end of the night.. everybody was asked if they would like to take one of the fish.. NOBODY raised their hand. So I said "Im taking all of them." I had brought a large plastic fishbowl that I filled with Goldfish (the cheese cracker snack). All 10 fish got jammed in there and I raced home to get them into my 30gal. (I had corys and a Betta in there... downgraded the betta back to his 5gal.) My husband was not happy to suddenly have all these fish, but he understood the situation. Five of them died within 24 hours, likely due to stress, the others did fairly well. Who just buys fish for decorations and has no idea what to do with them after the party? Who the hell buys fish for a party?!
When I was in high school I had a classmate who unfortunately decided to buy a Betta fish for a school project, he was in a tiny tank that was more vertical than horizontal and it broke my heart seeing him swimming around in it, I did my best to help her with researching what kind of things he'd need when she brought him home, he fortunately did survive for her to bring him home and she did give him a bigger and more horizontal tank. I'm still very sad in regards to how he lived in our school but I think my classmate did her best after bringing him home and I was happy that she did actually improve his living conditions even if she wasn't perfect. He unfortunately died around a year after she brought him home. R.I.P Terri I hope you're jumping through paddy fields in heaven I'd like to mention I don't support what she did in the beginning and that fish like any other animal need to be given the proper space and you need to do research before you get any animal, regardless of how easy you think it'll be to take care of them. Animals are not school projects, animals are living beings just like us and deserve the best quality of life.
TLDR Animal Planet can sometimes have very harmful things for animals. Does anyone remember or heard of the show Tanked? For those that don’t know it was basically a show on Animal Planet coming at the start of them making more people content and less animals. It was about these guys making extreme tanks for the fabulously wealthy and sometimes famous. I don’t remember many of the episodes I don’t even remember the faces of the people who made it but one episode stuck with me and even as a young one I knew it was wrong. So what happened was this musician wanted a drum tank which is already yikes because drums aren’t that big for fish but then the kicker he wanted the drum to be playable. 🤦♀️ There was a fish expert on the show I believe at least there was in this episode and he was like Nah fam don’t do this. But the guys were like We are getting paid the big bucks so what do we do? In the end they had to create a unique way for the fish to be in the drum but not be literally killed by being what is almost being beaten to death. (It is probably closer to shaking a baby violently). I think they had some sort of special glass? I just remember stressing because I knew you weren’t supposed to even tap on the glass much less DRUM ON IT ALL DAY. I felt so bad for those poor fish, they are stuck in a glorified fish bowl being subjected to strobe lights, loud sounds, moving constantly, and god knows what else. I almost don’t believe they made it so the fish can’t hear anything or feel the drumming. But you know FiSh d0nT hAb fEEwingZ so who cares? There’s a good reason that show got canceled.
Thinking about getting a beta fish, what should I get for it? I'm already getting a five gallon tank and no other fish, what else? Gravel? Plants? Filter? Thermometer? Water conditioner? Other things?
Remember to cycle the tank before getting the fish! It's very unhealthy for fish to live in uncycled tanks. (If you don't know how to cycle a tank, there are lots of helpful tutorials on youtube). If you already bought the fish, you can buy some beneficial bacteria (i use aquavitro seed), some water conditioner(i use seachem prime), and also a filter. Fish require a lot more than that and can be expensive so i wish you good luck on your fish keeping! :)
@@tavig7410 😭😭😭 I don't have time to cycle it! I'm not buying the fish, I'm getting it from a friend, and the date I'm getting it can't be changed. I've looked up how long it needs to cycle and even jumpstarting it with bacteria, it takes 2 weeks, which I don't have time for. I also may not be able to get a heater for reasons I would rather not explain here.
@@tavig7410 Just wondering, am I actually helping this fish: Current conditions: 1 gallon (probably) bowl Nothing in bowl except for plastic gems at the bottom Old Betta fish food pellets Water changes No other fish No heater No filter Not cycled My conditions: (not yet though, I don't have the fish at the moment) 5 gal tank Filter Maybe heater (probably not though) Gravel Live plants (java Fern I think) New fish food Freeze dried bloodworms Sinking Betta log No other fish Not cycled
I volunteer in a thrift store owned by a charity. I clean whatever I can, but most volunteers don't and even I don't always have time. My manager will often take visibly dirty clothes home to wash if they aren't too bad, but most of the dirty stuff just goes straight into the garbage.
Ever heard of Cat in Blender trend? Basically it’s a video where someone put a LIVE cat in a blender, and turned it on, and you can hear the cat screaming for help as it’s little organs come out and it stops meowing, then it dies, the man then put it in the microwave and watches in joy as they see the cat burn. The man was thankfully arrested though.

No, so long as the Fish still have plenty of space and can survive there's no issue with a bioactive aquarium. They are a bit harder to clean though for obvious reasons.
I was watching a different reddit video where someone used live gold fish in wedding centerpieces and the guest posted about it because they were dying and gasping for air. Sick
Help my canary bird layed a egg in the food bowl and I accidentally broke it. I’m not a breeder and I’m not looking for baby birds so did I do a good thing?
@@CutesyDaisy how many do you have!?! Are they all in the same cage? Canaries don't ideally go in the same space....they're not overly sociable like other birds. And if you're not looking to breed then you for SURE shouldn't be keeping a male canary with any females (and you should get a vet to help you figure out which they are if you're not sure - 100%) males can attack females who are not ready to nest. And producing eggs can be a dangerous process for the canary hen. Like, they usually produce 3-5 eggs so the fact there was 1 either was very unusual, means it wasn't fertilised, or means whichever Canary laid it is in a lot of trouble. They ideally should all be kept separately anyway but males should deffo all be alone, and females can kinda survive in pairs in large cages. They can be kept in the same room but it sort of depends how many you have! Basically to sum it up I think you should seperate your birds
Hello, just came across this You Tube Channel with a video depicting a sopping wet kitten and duckling “discovered” on a Vietnamese country road in a puddle in the rain. It seems to follow a rather disturbing pattern of a plethora of videos posted about a year ago….so I went to look at the Channel. All the most recent videos seemed to follow the same format, no spoken words, over screen yellow text in a nice font, protagonist driving slowly on motorbike and “hearing or seeing” something…. Although I am not Vietnamese….this is my wife’s account….I have been there three times before so things like metal gates, concrete power poles and patterened concrete footpath pavers gave it away as Viet Nam. When I looked at the channel, all the recent videos, from the last few months or so followed that same disturbing “recipe” seen about a year back….but when I went back to the channel’s older vodeos from 12 to 18 months back they were much more “normal” videos of a rural family with a few pig stys and some cattle….the whole family seemed to be contributing to the content, hovever the recent stuff all seems to be just one family member. I asked my wife, fram Sai Gon in the South to come an listen to the family…in a video where they are tossing tiles up to roof a new house extension….she told me that the accent was from the North, further up than Da Nang. We then watched a few of the recent videos together to try to determine if the puppy was the same in each video…but the patterning on all thee puppies we looked at was different, but they were all the same Vietmanese breed and all about the sane age…so possibly from the same lotter. My old landlord’s, (also Vietmanese) sister had a dog of this breed when I visited her Sai Gon home in 1993 I recall. I could go on an on about the appauling Cruelty I saw on the three occassions I was over there but it would probably get this comment deleted. Generally dogs and cats are kept in the house, but never fed….they are not pets but vermin exterminators…least this is how it was in the past…I think younger Vietnamese in the big cities are now far more savvy about animal welfare. Rabies is still “a thing” over there and you do need to be “mindful” of that when you are around animals whilst there. Here in Australia, (Tasmania) rabies and hydatids were wiped out decedes ago by vert concerted Government campaigns. Out in rural areas of VN attitudes change far more slowly. I have never seen such smart cats as in VN. At my sister in law’s, they had a Skinny little cat as aratter and mouser, this cat did not like me as a I would mock it’s meow…..It would leap out and claw my lags as I passed my sister in law’s doorway, but if my brother in law went past it did not claw him…it could definitely tell who I was from other family members. Lazy cats here in Tasmania probably can too, but they don’t really care much as long as they are warm and there is food in their bowl each evening. When my sister in law came to visit us here in Tas for the first time a few years ago, we took her out to some tourist attractions and on the way we passed a Vet’s clinic. Someone in the car tolde her in Vietnamese what it was, she was so AMAZED she asked us to go bak and stop so she could get a close look at this “hospital” for ANIMALS…..she felt it was so “absurd”. That channel has The title, “Pieces Of Life”, some of the videos are… pdf2hFSoMsQ iQDJuIxbSiA here is one of the older ones that are legit GHSNM9UCIaI. The “I’s” are capital “I’s” not lower case “L’s”.

3:40 I had these when I got my first betta fish. They are basically Orbees with bacteria in them. They say they "encourage foraging behaviours"
Love you soda❤, you helped me take care of my fish and told me what to avoid❤
I plan to draw Spencer a memorial picture whenever I can get out of my art block ;v;
Hope things are going well.
DASHCON BETTA FISH BALLPIT 💀
I’m just curious. What is your emergency plan for your animals? Like in case of a cyclone, do you evacuate your fish into bins or jars? Do you leave your fish? I live in America and am curious what your plan is to keep your animals safe
My birds Love watching this channel because of the birds!
So I said "Im taking all of them."
I had brought a large plastic fishbowl that I filled with Goldfish (the cheese cracker snack).
You so deserved that break. Thank you for the informational videos ❤
The tank that the person put in the donations looks exactly like the see-through rubbish bin with the goldfish in it from time stamp 5:13
I wish people would stop giving away fish like they were toy's 💔😥
"Oh cool you have plants in your fishtank?"
"Nah bro, we have fish in our plant tank"
XD
Hi Soda! I adopted some Cory catfish yesterday because you have some too!
R.I.P Terri I hope you're jumping through paddy fields in heaven
I'd like to mention I don't support what she did in the beginning and that fish like any other animal need to be given the proper space and you need to do research before you get any animal, regardless of how easy you think it'll be to take care of them.
3:54 it took me a while to figure it out but I’m pretty sure they mean pooped out the bead, not popped out the dead. Could be wrong though.
My LFS has an adoption program - so you can get surrendered fish for free if you have a good home for them :)
Thinking about getting a beta fish, what should I get for it? I'm already getting a five gallon tank and no other fish, what else?
Gravel?
Plants?
Filter?
Thermometer?
Water conditioner?
Other things?
Please please please tell me
Remember to cycle the tank before getting the fish!
@@tavig7410 oh wait you can cycle it with the fish. Phew.
@@tavig7410 Just wondering, am I actually helping this fish:
Current conditions:
1 gallon (probably) bowl
Nothing in bowl except for plastic gems at the bottom
Old Betta fish food pellets
Water changes

No heater
No filter
Not cycled
My conditions: (not yet though, I don't have the fish at the moment)
5 gal tank
Filter
Maybe heater (probably not though)
Gravel
Live plants (java Fern I think)
New fish food
Freeze dried bloodworms
Sinking Betta log
No other fish
Not cycled

1:50 that actually is a good tank size, but it isn’t a good tank for those specific fish
Yes you should do this live that would be so much fun!
Or just… buy fish fertilizer? It’s like $11 for a bottle that lasts for at least 14 gallons of water. Probably more.
We love it when Soda posts a new educational video!! ❤
American pet stores will let you do anything. There are some owners that have standards and won't sell to just anyone, but most don't.
10:28 Oh there goes my anxiety 😬😬
Every fish needs a ballpit 😂😭

To be fair the lobster claw machine fascinated me as a kid you get to win your own dinner
There is already a claw machine fishtank
I volunteer in a thrift store owned by a charity. I clean whatever I can, but most volunteers don't and even I don't always have time. My manager will often take visibly dirty clothes home to wash if they aren't too bad, but most of the dirty stuff just goes straight into the garbage.
no joke tho, fishpoop is great for plants!!
Holy shit! Frog corpses in the ExoTerra?!

Might as well just put the tank on the floor if they were just going to put it on that.

Why do I always watch these kinda videos when I'm eating 😭
Ahh yes, take your breaks.
My mum had the gift of killing fish no matter what we did to help
Some restaurants have lobster claw machines so you can get one and then they will cook it for ya and that just does not sit right with me. I get it people eat animals that is fine but, that is just weird.
Don’t know if they’re still around, but there are some videos on RUclips of people playing the machines at restaurants
I dunno about America or NZ but as someone who worked in a secondhand store in the UK yeah, they do wash the donations.
that claw machine read "10yuan for one try, scan QR code to pay''That is actually a thing in my country and you can actually catch one 😂 Someone on a Chinese social media actually had success doing this.Sadly people starts to do this with goldfish and glofish......which is fucked up😔
I have a question what happened to the rainbow factory?
I need people’s opinions would a bio active enclosure that has a food chain in it be considered cruel for example plants > aphids > green anole?
No, so long as the Fish still have plenty of space and can survive there's no issue with a bioactive aquarium. They are a bit harder to clean though for obvious reasons.
@@lucyla9947 well the smaller creatures would die like Minos or brine shrimp
I was watching a different reddit video where someone used live gold fish in wedding centerpieces and the guest posted about it because they were dying and gasping for air. Sick
Help my canary bird layed a egg in the food bowl and I accidentally broke it. I’m not a breeder and I’m not looking for baby birds so did I do a good thing?
I mean, it doesn't really matter. It was an accident and it's done now. Worrying won't change it. So you might as well move on from it tbh
@@sophiehobley828 what should I do when my birds lay eggs later on in life?
@@CutesyDaisy are you keeping male birds and female birds together?
@@sophiehobley828 yeah, my mom got one male and the rest are females, some idk the gender of
@@CutesyDaisy how many do you have!?!
