These early Ren songs are so underestimated. This song is wonderful and so is "Humble" and "Ocean" and "Fire" and "Love Music" parts 1 - 3. "Dear God" is another gem that gets overlooked. Oh, and "Penitence" and "Heretic" and the greatest of them all is "It's Alright"; the video version where they go into town to spread some love.
This is actually my favourite song of Ren's. I am totally sold on his authentic talent and I am blown away, like most, with his inimitable abilities with word, music, melody, harmony ... but this is HUGE - Ren is such a sensive soul and may God Bless him. I think that Ren's lyrical poetry gives everyone a sense of authentic belonging, of not being alone. The media/social media has so much to answer for when it comes to a lot of mental health issues that people (especially the younger generations) are suffering with. I agree with some of the comments I've read. This is one of my favorite songs from Ren with a great message. I know, even as a man (or years ago...a young man), I felt insecure because I didn't have the chiseled jawline, six-pack abs, and ripped body I would see in movies. I couldn't even imagine the pressures put on women either young or older. It's so much worse. And kudos to you for rejecting getting implants and your youthful retort likely stopped men dead in their tracks. Everyone has beauty just how they are. Sure, I wish I were thinner and more toned now at 50, but I'm not. I try to improve, but now I judge my beauty in how I treat others and, honestly, that's where true beauty lies. I was, originally, going to use this piece as a lesson for my students. But, I would be honored if I could use your reaction to the song as part of the lesson. It seems heartfelt and real. You're a beautiful soul. You see the twisted and respect the poetry. I would've been dead at 17 if I didn't have this outlet with real music. I feel blessed to be someone that feels like you( I'm an atheiest , so that's impressive). It's okay if you don't agree to me doing this. I was and will never be the same since age 19, but I have to count my blessings, lick my wounds, belong with the world and carry on. On a positive note, the experience makes what would ordinarily be major problems for some look like minor issues perspectively.
And we appreciate your efforts. Reaction videos and artists like Ren and NF helped me turn a corner during the plandemic. Was in a pretty dark place during that time and walking about seven to ten miles a day and reaction videos where the only thing keeping my insanity at bay..... My Nf friend. This is one of my top 3 Ren songs, at no point can you ever question if this mans not a true lyricist. And yes ma’am the knowledge we gain from out gathered experiences play a huge role in our lives, as a parent you naturally want better for your children but have to come to the truth of no matter what advice and experience you share with them, ultimately they will make their own choices and decisions and those will becomes their experience. I don't think I have ever respected a musician more, who makes music that isn't the genre I usually listen to. But as they say, good music is good music. And his more guitar and piano driven songs where he doesn't rap, like Chalk Outlines, How To Be Me, and Crutch, aren't that far away from the music I usually listen to.

I worry about my teen daughter getting this even more amplified by social media than my sister grew up with pre-internet (yes I'm old). Love this song by Ren. Here's two more that I think you'll really enjoy; 'Crucify Your Culture' and 'Girls!'. Girls is one of his least viewed videos, but I love the song; so much so that I used it as some of my intro music to Chapter 24. Boobs have never equated to beauty. I think it's so sad when this culture brings about a feeling of inadequacy in women who, then, feel the need to enhance. I can understand reductions a bit better but there are very few men that would turn away a beautiful soul just because she had a small chest. I pray that we aren't screwing too much with the wonderful Tomboys out in the world today. It used to just be a thing and everyone I knew grew into a beautiful woman. Sure, there was some stigma about not being feminine enough, but I think MOST of that came from older people and other women themselves. Today, they are denigrated from two sides. A tomboy is either not feminine enough or should think about transitioning to a boy. I wish tomboys were just left alone to become who THEY want to be.
I mean it's all about what makes you happy. When I was young I liked playing games outdoors AND play with Barbies. I had Ninja toys AND my little pony. I enjoyed both and my parents loved it! It wasn't until high school where I felt pressure to dress and behave differently. But... that's also when I liked rebelling the most so... I got out of everything quit alright. I still like to wear dresses, I still like to wear make up, and I also LOVE the "rock chick" look. I feel like it represents me right now, with what I feel right now. So I wish more people will wear what THEY feel like. (As long as it's not offending or hurting anyone else, but that's another subject).

I was, originally, going to use this piece as a lesson for my students. But, I would be honored if I could use your reaction to the song as part of the lesson. It seems heartfelt and real. You're a beautiful soul. You see the twisted and respect the poetry. I would've been dead at 17 if I didn't have this outlet with real music. I feel blessed to be someone that feels like you( I'm an atheiest , so that's impressive). It's okay if you don't agree to me doing this. It's part of your own personal journey and I would never try to take away from that. I'd show them freckled angels or for Joe, but I'd be a mess. I feel the more emotion you can attach to learning, the better they learn. Also, if you say yes, I'm going to probably show them the freckled angels reaction. My heart broke, but it mended quickly knowing that my empathy could be shared and cultivated.

They are at quite a high level of English, but they are at quite a high level of emotional understanding as well. I appreciate you taking the time to even respond. Just to pull on your beautiful heart-stings a little more, I told my students I was "moving away" next week. They screamed NO! Why! You can't do this! I was and will never be the same since age 19, but I have to count my blessings, lick my wounds, belong with the world and carry on. On a positive note, the experience makes what would ordinarily be major problems for some look like minor issues perspectively.

It is charming.and a fascinating look at what I guess Rome used to be like when not many people had cars and the world was a simpler more innocent place.
My Nf friend. This is one of my top 3 Ren songs, at no point can you ever question if this mans not a true lyricist. And yes ma’am the knowledge we gain from out gathered experiences play a huge role in our lives, as a parent you naturally want better for your children but have to come to the truth of no matter what advice and experience you share with them, ultimately they will make their own choices and decisions and those will becomes their experience. So I just hope that we leave them with enough tools to handle and overcome them. Until next time lady!

@@ronireacts_to_all Yup, I did! 😁He is correct in Hi Ren, he really is doing something great, and people will remember him, and not just because of his amazing talent and music, but also because of the person he is. I don't think I have ever respected a musician more, who makes music that isn't the genre I usually listen to. But as they say, good music is good music. And his more guitar and piano driven songs where he doesn't rap, like Chalk Outlines, How To Be Me, and Crutch, aren't that far away from the music I usually listen to.

I worry about my teen daughter getting this even more amplified by social media than my sister grew up with pre-internet (yes I'm old). Although Ren uses the story of a young girl in the song, he also alludes to his own experience and I'm sure his heavily-freckled friend Joe was inspiration for some of this - he does mention "dominoes" in his song "For Joe".
Oh I missed that when I listened to "For Joe". I'll have another listen.
Love this song by Ren. Here's two more that I think you'll really enjoy; 'Crucify Your Culture' and 'Girls!'. Girls is one of his least viewed videos, but I love the song; so much so that I used it as some of my intro music to Chapter 24. The other thing I wanted to tell you is that the videos of mine that you listened to were part of Book 2. Book 1, as well as Book 2, are in 'play lists'. Hope that helps. ttyl

He does the Ren Rolla Coaster showing his music industry friends 3 Ren songs always starting with \hi Ren, then a big push then a rap song...Hunger etc.. HE came to the conclusion that to capture that "First time" watching Ren feeling by seeing the reactions on his friends faces... it works really well as we all get to see that first reaction to Hi Ren... do you have anyone that would be willing to be on camera and that has not heard of Ren? Some of the reactions are priceless.

Boobs have never equated to beauty. I think it's so sad when this culture brings about a feeling of inadequacy in women who, then, feel the need to enhance. I can understand reductions a bit better but there are very few men that would turn away a beautiful soul just because she had a small chest.
I pray that we aren't screwing too much with the wonderful Tomboys out in the world today. It used to just be a thing and everyone I knew grew into a beautiful woman. Sure, there was some stigma about not being feminine enough, but I think MOST of that came from older people and other women themselves. Today, they are denigrated from two sides. A tomboy is either not feminine enough or should think about transitioning to a boy. I wish tomboys were just left alone to become who THEY want to be.
I mean it's all about what makes you happy.
When I was young I liked playing games outdoors AND play with Barbies. I had Ninja toys AND my little pony.
I enjoyed both and my parents loved it! It wasn't until high school where I felt pressure to dress and behave differently. But... that's also when I liked rebelling the most so... I got out of everything quit alright.
I still like to wear dresses, I still like to wear make up, and I also LOVE the "rock chick" look. I feel like it represents me right now, with what I feel right now.
So I wish more people will wear what THEY feel like. (As long as it's not offending or hurting anyone else, but that's another subject).
