The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

I was part of this Rutgers Marching 100 for the 1969 football season. We accompanied Nancy just after the football season was over. They wanted a Midwestern style band and although from New Jersey our director had just come from the University of Michigan and we performed in the style; very different from the Ivy League schools Rutgers would compete against. What a thrill it was as an 18- year old to be on the Ed Sullivan Show in its heyday. I’ve looked for this video many times before, but just found it. The March, 1970 was a rebroadcast. I can’t see myself, but I’m in there with the other trumpet players, but I remember my fraternity brother was the snare drummer in the opening segment of the marching band sequence.
What an amazing experience! Thanks for sharing!!
That's so awesome!!!
OMG I never seen this!!!! Love it!!!!
Charisma runs in the family.
My brother was in Rutgers band and on this stage with her.
Always a treat to see Nancy! I believe she was a phenomonal vocalist.
Phenomenal. The production quality of this video enhances an already wonderful recording by Nancy. This is when the Sullivan show was really stepping it up a notch to produce music videos like MTV would be producing a decade later. This is one of the most effective & best examples. Bravo to Nancy & everyone involved

She's so iconic ✨
It was SO great to this video after 52 years. I was on stage (trumpet) with her, but I haven't been able to find myself yet. I was hoping that someone would finally share this.
What A Happy Beautiful Lovely Video Of Nancy Sinatra 😍❣️💗💞💓💕💘💝🌹🧡💛💚💙💜♥️💖💋❤️
Love Tiffania Porchiazzo And Michael Trombetta ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I have her clothing style and love it!!!
I kept expecting Benny Hill to come running on the stage and start slapping the old guy on the back of his bald head.
Yes!! Jackie. (Slap. Slap. Slap. Slap.)
So pretty.
Such a pretty song around the band interlude.
Always a delight to watch all the parts she plays..She is really so captivating! Thank you for sharing! 💖
Ed was very loyal lo Nancy. He even taped her nightclub act which was aired as an Ed Sullivan special. It was shown the week after the last live ESS in 1971. I don't think that show was ever seen again. The harsh reality was that her career went downhill about as fast as it rose with "Boots" in 1966. Her last Top 40 was "Some Velvet Morning" with Hazlewood in 1967. Her 1968 releases lingered in the lower reaches of the top 100. This song was a 1969 release and by then her records did not chart at all. Such is the nature of pop stardom.
Then switched to RCA in 1971
@@SuperWolsey I recall the ES show. I wish they would release it.
Beautiful performance, magnificient👏
Beautiful 😍
I actually remember this - I had (and have still) her Record of this tune - I thought it was connected to the movie at the time The Boys in the Band but I guess it really wasn't - at any rate, it was a nice record by Nancy -
The 45 we have only includes the beginning and ending of the recording in this video. The band segment appears to have been recorded exclusively for the Ed Sullivan Show. I wish that would have been released as well.
@@shyman99 Yes, the Rutgers Band segment was only recorded for the Ed Sullivan show. We prerecorded the song in a studio and only pretended to play on stage with Nancy. Also, there was no audience when it was video recorded.
@@mtedroberts - Thanks Ted. This is one of my favorite videos on RUclips. I wish someone had the stereo recording of the band segment so a stereo recording of the entire song could be created. What recollections do you have of Nancy and practicing the routine prior to the final take? And who was the lucky gentleman escorting her?
I have only a recollection of Nancy going right next to and either in front of or behind me when she went through the band. I don't remember if we had multiple takes or everything was done on one take. I do remember getting Ed Sullivan's autograph. He seemed very friendly and approachable. I think that was close to the end of his life (1970).
@@mtedroberts - That is so cool! Did you hang on to that autograph? It's Nancy I would have loved to have chatted with back then. But I bet she was in and out of there in the blink of an eye. I don't even know how they had enough men for the band since they were shipping them off to Vietnam at the time. Your heads and faces were covered up that I bet it is tough to pick yourself out of those scenes.
NS is so beautiful
Nancy Sinatra's beauty was totally off the Richter Scale. She was the Farrah Fawcett of the 60's. A total knockout. BTW She was a terrific singer.
Is it possible to post the entire "Ed Sullivan Presents Movin' with Nancy on Stage" special?
pokies before pokies we’re a thing.
Such a bettter version than the one on her Movin' With Nancy album.
💗💗💗
She must've been very cold.
Ah, look another man who doesn't understand women's anatomies or women's fashion......🙄
(Spoiler alert: it's just the cut of the garment - bras were included)
В те годы,и так откровенно без лифчика,однако!
Rutgers Marching Band! Go RU!! Unfortunately, this song doesn't work for Nancy Sinatra. ☹
Geez. After Lee she completely drowned.
Tom Smith, answer my question, dude.
Nancy states that she loves all the boys in the band. I wonder if they ever allowed her to play the pink oboe, or perhaps the skin flute?
You can see how the world was so influenced by the Beatles
The Monkees' "Listen To The Band" is what influenced this song.
Weak Singer-all lip synch. Sullivan almost always demanded live singing but you dont have a strong voice you pre tape!
