- ‘To Di For’ podcast host Kinsey Schofield has described Meghan Markle’s product launch as “such a disappointment”.
Meghan Markle has teased a first look at her new business venture on social media, sharing images of a jar of strawberry jam.
The Duchess of Sussex unveiled the item this week and gifted jars of her conserves to a range of influencers and socialites.
“I mean how incredibly disappointing,” Ms Schofield told Sky News host Rita Panahi.
“Why all this PR hype?”

What a debacle! PR stunt. She puts out a brand name while it’s pending. Chooses a luxury product that we can go to any farmers mart or local farmer who sells jams. The cooking show is not done in their home, but off sight. She doesn’t cook so most likely she helped someone make 50 jars, took credit, and doesn’t have a local manufacturer. Anyone can make labels off our computers and printers. Listen, we have our own famous chefs and cooks in America that actually do cooking shows in their own homes and sell reliable pretty wares. The “American Riviera” is reportedly that area by Santa Barbara, California. So, the strawberries and other fruit she may use should really be sourced from there. I’m going out on a limb here, but I suspect she isn’t creating these from her own orchard in her own kitchen.

These jars of jam are produced by vast numbers of experienced corporations, in millions of supermarkets all over the world, in specialty shops who feature gifts and special offerings, online for ordering with free shipping, well known food offerings from established public figures, at roadside farm stands across the nation, and best of all, the lovely fresh jams made by loving grandmothers, moms, and church food sales. To start right off competing with a product which has been available for generations seems, well, surprising. I could be wrong, of course. Time will tell.
