Was just thinking about Roger today for some reason...hard to believe it's been a year. Always amazed me how much he and Dave's vocals resembled each other - made their harmonies simply amazing...😊😊
Epsato he didnt just toast he did backing vocals as well. Ive seen The Beat in its present form with Ranking Roger with his son about 10 times and whilst not Dave Wakelin they can still bang out the tunes to a great standard.
Roger Rankings new music with the Beat proves he was more than just a "toaster" . So so good, they're better than Wakelings version of the Beat live as well. Just my opinion though!
Epsato obviously knows nothing about music, Ranking Rogers solo album i rate above anything by the beat or General Public, You must be a commercialised fool
***** he was huge in gay underground culture in the 1980, he came from a band called general Public which was about as big as you could get in the gay music scene. Im not criticizing the guy here, I dont care if he is gay or not but the video is so strange in light of those facts.
aegisgfx Well, I'm a gay guy out since 1989 and I've never heard any other gay guy talk about General Public or Ranking Roger and doubt I know anyone who knows who they were (Hey, I like them that's why I'm here). House music was huge huge huge in gay clubs back then not this stuff.
Ron Anon general public for sure was huge in the gay underground.. but hey I dont care that they were gay in fact I appreciate the hell out of gay culture and gay music
The album's awful! Watchutalkingaboutwillis? Roger's best work was with English Beat and with General Public. He had one decent song on his solo album, which was the single. I've got that beast on LP and cringe when it goes to the next track!
I'm saddened. Roger had an amazing stage presence. Loved everything he ever did.
Great single, why was this not a hit?!?
RiP Roger grew up listing to you in the 80s in high school
Sad day in music. His music gave us great melodies and rhythm combined. RIP Roger.
so thankful that your talent will live on. RIP Roger
I met him at a club in 1988 and he was wearing the same radio-hat that he’s wearing in this video. Nice guy. Gave me an autograph which I still have.
I had no idea! I love Ranking Roger. RIP.
I was all over this and "Just Play Music" by Big Audio Dynamite in 1988. So good.
RIP Roger
Just love this record and video. Brings back many great memories of those times. I still have the 45 ❤
Thank you Roger. You will be missed by many.
I LOVE 💕 THIS SONF! It’s what brought me to RUclips
1/2 of General Public 👌
Who thumbed this down? God I miss the 80’s
Excellent editing for the time. It's still very seamless. Thank you

Remember having the 12" of this. One of the best records not to get into the top 40!
RIP Sweet Soul...
I wish Ranking Roger would make a US tour. I wold love to hear all those English Beat songs and his as well.

RIP RR 😢
Just heard the terrible news today! Rest in Peace, Roger
I toast this clip as being one of the best unintended homages to every Whitesnake video ever made.
This should have had a lot more air play.
Seen This on KDOC'S 56's Request Video show in Stereo in 1988.
Epsato he didnt just toast he did backing vocals as well.

Also, I.R.S. Records = Best Record Label of the 80s, if not all time.
Vai com deus ranking Roger tinha uma ótima voz parecia com do cantor seal
I Enjoyed “The ‘Beat”!

IS Roger “Alive” now?
Wasn't this guy in general public?
yes he was
jangohump English Beat.
He did it all.. He's Rankin Bloody Roger!
Dam So sad
IS ‘Roger “alive”?
Jump around... jump around... fun tune.
Who were the girls? Brunette is (or was) hot!
Paul M. Is “Gay”?
The English Beat still tours. David Wakeling's the voice behind all those English Beat songs. Roger just did the "toasting."
Roger Rankings new music with the Beat proves he was more than just a "toaster" . So so good, they're better than Wakelings version of the Beat live as well. Just my opinion though!

Putting super hot females in a song made by and for gay guys was a baaad idea...

Yes I agree, I love gay music. I just feel this video is weird..

The late 80s were terrible.
Awful.
